21 "she's" in your post. You aren't trying to change yourself, you're trying to change your wife. You already know that you need to figure out how to stop viewing everything you're doing as it relates to your wife. No woman or man should be your measuring stick. This is part of what guys on here mean when they talk about frame. You realize right now, you are the type of guy that might change the flavor ice cream he ordered if his wife looked at him a certain way, or if he thought that it might m…

OYS #18 Lifts have remained constant, but I am upping the weight this week. I am doing some new back stretches pre-workout that are helping to mitigate the tightness I sometimes felt especially after DL and BBR. I feel stronger and have been eating much cleaner over the last 20 days to start and show a bit more definition overall. Reading I took a brief hiatus on the MRP material for a couple of weeks and read a historical novel about sailing while on vacation. I'd forgotten how I enjoy reading …

I am very much a work in progress, but you have a mindset I had a few months ago. You are planning your whole day around something you can’t control, so much so that you come here to ask for how to act. Sex isn’t a goal for a man. It’s an impulse, or a byproduct of him doing what he wants. No harm in building an environment conducive to what you want, but clearly all you want is to be validated.

OYS #17 5'7, 146lbs, married 9 years, no kids. Physical: (5x5) 155 BP, 180 Squat, 100 OHP, 110 BBR I have kept up the routine, and added protein intake do to some advice received on here. I feel stronger than I have in years physically which I enjoy. I will be picking up deadlift again beginning next week - I didn't want to risk another injury as this weekend I have a golf trip planned. I am not doing well at using my calorie counting app, especially over the holiday break (US). I will re-apply …

Seems like sound advice and the conclusion I eventually came to. Appreciate the reply, and will continue with the game plan.

OYS #15 Physical: (all 5x5) BP - 150, Squat 180, OHP 95, BBR 110 I have been squeamish about getting back on dead lifts after tweaking my back a couple of times. I have looked up proper form, but will probably practice form and slowly increase weight starting this week. Other lifts have leveled out a bit, but getting OHP over 100 tomorrow. Had some good advice from one of you last week about tracking fitness goals and ways to make some quick gains, which I'm putting into practice this week. For …

Good note. I've just started tracking, but what I need to pin down is how much I need to be consuming while doing 5x5 lifts 3-4 times weekly. Protein I don't know for certain - positive I'm getting over 75g daily. I'll find a resource to see how to set a weight target for what I'm doing and in turn a calorie and protein amount target to achieve that. It appears I've done it backwards. I need to find out what the guy I want to turn into should weigh.

Agree I've been too fixated on sex and wife. I do have a good social game, friends that just I hang out with, golf, fishing, sports club, etc. Diet was average until recently (mostly cooking at home, but didn't make an effort to not eat a junk meal when out with friends), was generally eating more protein and getting over 2200 calories. Recently avoiding carb loaded foods / sugar and eating cleaner. "Just for me" - is something I'm looking at, especially as I'm re-reading that piece of NMMNG. Ou…

OYS 14 Physical: (all 5x5) BP - 145, Squat 180, OHP 95, BBR 105, DL 140 Mental: I had a comment about discipline last week, and it resonated this week. I don't have good frame and discipline at this point. Case in point, I drank too much one night this week after getting a little cocky with some recent good progress and sent a drunk text to an old female co-worker (who I apologized for inconveniencing the next morning). I think I am a month or so away from the point that I realized that I had fa…

OYS 13 34, 5'7, 146lbs, Married 9 years, no kids Physical: (all 5x5) BP - 140lbs, Squat 180lbs, OHP 95lbs, BBR 100lbs, DL 150lbs Mental: I'm going through NMMNG again and doing the practices in it. My mental state alternates between extreme motivation to do more and hurry up and become "not the nice guy", depression in the fact I have been for so long and this is why I am not attractive to my wife, and worry that I've waited too long to implement or that it won't stick this time. I've cut porn o…

My significant other has some of the same "hang-ups" that you seem to be running into. I've had periods of high frequency and desire and low. I've been married for almost a decade, but obviously I'm here because my needs weren't being met and knew that something needed to change. Good advice on the thread - it's not something you can talk your way out of, and you should stop with the negative self talk. If you're a bad lay, you can fix that. If you're fat, you can fix that. Eventually, you'll be…

OYS #12 34, 5'7, married 9 years, no kids Physical: Bench 145, Squat 170, bbr 115, ohp 105, all 5x5 I'll be rotating in dead lifts this week. Poor strength numbers on that and my squat, so I'll continue to work on form and get that weight up. Plateau this week on almost all lifts, mostly due to limited gym equipment at the hotel I stayed at during a work trip, and skipping a lift day due to sickness. Mental: Re-reading NMMNG and taking my time with it. I'm not as angry at myself and any manipula…

Validation seeking - I notice that my initiations a lot of the time come from a place of wanting to prove to myself that I am making positive changes and that my wife is more attracted to me. Due to this, I overthink things and either go in too meek or too aggressive than I should. This past week, I waited until I was sure that I basically just had an urge to fuck for no reason other than that, and tapped into that energy and let it guide my initiation. No, I believe if I had already dispelled m…

OYS #11 34, 5'7, married 9 years, no kids Physical: Bench 145 5x5, Squat 170 5x5, bbr 110 5x5, ohp 95 5x5 I've been steady this week. I haven't added weight as I'm getting some slight pain in some of the lifts and I need to get my form sorted out this week to continue improving there. Rotating in dead lifts again next week. I've done alright on diet, essentially eating a lot of protein two meals a day to hold steady. I plan on lowering calorie intake starting mid June to cut before a beach trip …

OYS #10 34, 5'7, married 9 years, no kids Physical: Bench 145lbs 5x5, Squat 170lbs 5x5, bbr 110lbs 5x5 I've started working out in the mornings 3-4 times each week. This is new to me as I usually sleep till around 8:15 and workout in the afternoons. I think I'm more productive when I wake up earlier and eat and hit the gym though. I take less time showering and get a few things done before the work day begins. I'm going to work in some cardio and eat a little less to tone up before heading to a …

I am looking a bit more muscular and need to continue to eat high amounts of protein and keep my diet pretty clean. I am taking a week off of dead lifts after tweaking a lower back muscle again from trying to come back to it too quickly last week. Frustrating, but I am able to do other lifts…

I'm also curious about this. In my case there was some serious ego death that needed to happen. Part of what slowed me down was thinking I was already close and just needed to take a few short steps. Took me a while to understand that I was way further down the ladder than I thought. Time will tell if I can get my shit together.

Conflating making good decisions with having or holding frame. Well put, thank you. Emotional theatrics. Yep. That was especially cringe worthy.

I have rested and plan to get back at it today, but still it was a very annoying set back during the first time that I am actually seeing some weight gain progress in some of these lifts. Will focus on form and continue to eat a lot of good food. Paying a few extra bucks for a decent hair cut. I've been bu…
