I don't think you should instinctively combat one-itis. That said, you fell for this girl when you were 18. You're 22 now. There's a chance you're just remembering the best moments, and there's an even greater chance that you were just young and stupid and infatuated, and you remember that feeling now. Or, she could be your soul mate, who knows. Just temper your expectations.

She picked you over some other dude. He could have been a deformed creep with 3 eyes, a hunchback, and was clubbing baby seals in the picture. There's no guarantee she "liked" you, just preferred it to whatever the alternative was. So don't get your hopes up. And since your hopes aren't up, you have nothing to lose when you message her. In fact, since she's seen your picture before but likely doesn't remember it, that subconscious familiarity may work in your favor.

Exactly, it's heavy handed. And after a smart, entertaining (albeit AFC cringe-worthy) movie, it was frustrating to have such a corny ending beat you over the head with the moral.

I like the first response best.

Approach guys! Girls that break the ice and talk to me is a big turn on (if I would be attracted to them anyway). It shows a sign of confidence and a sense that you're not a girl that feels she needs to be approached and competed for.

That's really unintuitive, considering the anti-gay culture, or at least the threat of being classified as effeminate/homosexual, seems to be stronger in the male community than female.

Agreed. I took classical voice lessons in college and I don't even realize the things I do to project effortlessly until people asked me about them (use of your diaphragm, shaping your mouth, etc.).

You have a bit of the wrong attitude/perception about PUA. MUCH more importantly, you have the wrong attitude/perception about friendship and social behavior. You shouldn't be trying to pick up women if you have no friends to go out with. You should be making friends. There are PLENTY of ways to make friends in NYC if you don't know anyone or work with anyone your age: -- Alumni club for your school -- Co-ed recreational sports leagues, most of which accept single entrants and match them up on t…

It is much harder to change your social value when everyone already knows everybody. This is a good point worth repeating. A lot PU is constructing her perception of you based around the mystery of you two not knowing each other. In most high schools, everyone knows almost everyone else, if not has a good friend that knows you. So I'd agree that the more important points are the ones listed--ask girls out, touch girls, go for the kiss. And worry less about impressing girls and more about becomin…

Exactly. Even if it's not girls, but any opportunities. I do something after work every day. I find someone to see or something to do, and I really enjoy that. When you flake, especially for an unimportant reason, you're showing a lack of respect for my time. If I make plans with you, I stick with them regardless of whether I "feel like it" the day of. It's the responsible, respectful thing to do.

Exactly. Girls have their defenses up because guys are expected to hit on girls. Guys won't be threatened by girls, if a girl talks to me randomly, and I get the sense she's interested, if I'm interested I'll engage her and go from there. If not, I'll still be cordial, and just say "take care" and get out of there when I'm done being there. You don't have to worry about rejection or an awkward "why are you talking to me" kind of reaction that girls give guys.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
