A stoic person doesn't "want" anything, nor are they motivated by a drive to avoid negative consequences for themselves. Think of us as conscientious objectors in this "fight". Sleeping in my car is preferable to taking any action that might be perceived as being in my own interest.

The oldest story in the book. I was dating a girl, after about six weeks she started to worry that I was going to break up with her, so she activated her ironclad security policy. Our son was born nine months later.

Why would they do that? I understand that some men find it enjoyable but have some self-respect.

My wife propositioned me for sexual intercourse. Normally I make an excuse such as not having showered, or not having brushed my teeth. But on this Tuesday, I felt so tired from constantly making excuses, so I said "I just don't want to". She drained the account and filed the papers that week.

It will be helpful for you and he to stop thinking of money and possessions as yours. Then, being generous becomes a lot easier.

It would be morally reprehensible, of course.

Seems mean-spirited. If he doesn't require that money, what reason should he keep it from her? Sounds like a three year old who will destroy his cookie before sharing it.

You may scoff, but I am satisfied with my situation. And you are not, with yours. So who is coming out ahead here?

I make it work with 275 a week after support is taken. If I ever start to struggle with it, I am confident that I can find a job for the evenings and one for the weekends.

The man receives the "benefit" during the marriage, the woman receives punitive damages for enduring it. Assuming you make at least as much as I do ($38,000 before taxes) you'll be perfectly fine. I pay about 57 percent of my income by order, and maybe another 6-7 percent by choice with what's left after all of my bills are paid. I have a room to live in, access to a kitchen and a bathroom, hot water, and I can drive myself to work. When I want to use the internet I'm a short drive from a colleg…

Fifty percent isn't bad at all. Just pay what you owe, choose to demonstrate to your son how to not be a weasel, but to be a man.

The most involved recipes I have tried all include the phrase "puncture film for ventilation" and a warning to allow the item to sit a few minutes before removal from the microwave. That being said, more often a can of Pringles for supper fills the stomach effectively. Why don't more people know this?

I discovered that the closest participating attorney would be driving 2.5 hours round trip for every hearing. And he has never done a divorce case before, but was willing to try it.

Prostitutes are the only women who will do this. Which is good, you would not be able to respect a significant other if you knew they had done it.

I proposed to my first girlfriend in the "afterglow" of my first sexual experience. It seemed like a logical decision at the time. Despite being married, she agreed. It's 12 years later and she remains married.

You are as unattractive to them as they are to you - nobody looks good at that age. However, the less attractive they are, the less likely they are to reject you. And you won't have any competition.

Some people, this person too, apparently, are traumatized by being abandoned as a child, so their reactions can tend to be overwrought. We don't know what they have gone through.

There is no cause to negatively impact their lives, possibly irreparably. Seek therapy with the goal of complete forgiveness for both of them. And nobody is impressed by your red faced assertions that Bangladeshis come here to rape our precious children.

Understandable. I haven't seen my children in almost a month. You have to jump through the legal hoops they set up for you or you'll never see daylight. Delayed gratification. We're men, we can handle it.

The way I am choosing to look at it is at least with alimony and child support I will know exactly how much and when. The current situation I look at my checking account and find some random number that has no connection to the amount that should be there. Might be two dollars, might be two hundred. Who am I kidding, it's never two hundred. But at least when we are divorced I can budget around it.

Because it is expected that the man will provide for his family, without complaints. And there aren't any jobs out there that qualify as "slaving". 80 hours a week is on average about twelve hours a day, a reasonable amount.

And that's okay. We'll handle anything harmful or unfair without a word of complaint, because to do otherwise would bring shame.

Self respect is important, and a man will never be mentally healthy if he can't support himself and his family. To be honest I am not certain I would be able to ask for help regardless of how many hours I worked, but it isn't fair to hold others to unreasonable expectations.

$7.25 an hour, I assume. The point is that he needs to make every last effort to make those payments. My standard is that if you are working 80 hours a week and you still can't meet all of your obligations, then you can hold your head up while asking for assistance.

Indeed. My wife had me committed to a psychiatric hospital for a week and had the locks changed. In the interest of not causing a traumatic scene in front of the children I declined to break the door down, but I will be behind the eight ball for the foreseeable future as a result.
