I can see the legal arguement, the reason people would use the company would be the fact the drivers were female. The question is whether the courts think that demand is legitimate. It doesn't matter either way, they're not getting drivers, they're going to have to jack up wages and with it prices.

Spot on, the hysteria about pedophiles is completely misguided, the worst is the policy about solo flying kids on planes, of all the places to try to molest a child a plane has got to be the dumbest, you're in a very public area where you can't escape and they know exactly who you are so any creep can be rapidly arrested before they deboard to plane.

People seem to forget that we live in societies with heirarchies of rules, constitution trumps laws, laws trump corporate policies, just like there are often laws on the books that wouldn't stand up in law there are corporate policies like that as well. When BA tried to pull that shit they were knocked down in court faster then they could evac a plane. Just because a rule exists doesn't mean it won't be smacked down by a higher one, this happens ALL THE TIME. There are a tonne of places in the U…

I would, ALL of my views are up for questioning, being open minded is the only way to proporly vet your ideas, my ideas have changed in the past, societies have changed, it's simply statistically unlikely that at this point where I/society think I'm/we're "right" and all previous views were wrong that this is the "real" state of "right". I have therefor deduced that fixing ideas is only valuable if we know those are the right ones, since we can't know that (100s of others have decide they were "…

The greatest arguement against "my body, my choice" is bringing up 1000 personal liberties people like that hate. Prostitution, wearing a shirt with boobs on it, doing porn. Horshoe theory, the extreme left seems to hate individual freedoms as much as the extreme right.

The trick to propaganda is simple Be bold, people don't expect you to be bold in a lie. Keep repeating the lie. Use the lie as if it was an everyday fact. Don't recognise any opposition as having legitimacy. Since your opposition has no basis "reveal" the bigotry that leads to their views.

This is a nice picture of the kind of feminism that stole a movement from the suffragettes, it's for upper class mainstream women in first world countries. The women who actually live in patriarchial societies (like Saudi Arabia) are ignored, genital mutiliation, having major fundamental rights removed, ignored. It's about the minor problems of wealthy women in the first world. Poor women from the ghetto can't get into college? That's nothing compared to the real issue that a rich girl is the on…

I massively agree, the suffaragettes who marched and fought hard for voting rights were amazing.

It's about forming an explanation about something after it happens, if women were only be selected it would also be sexist. If you want legitimacy to your theories (ie. "patriarchy theory") then you need to make testable predictions. If gender/womens studies was a legitimate field it would make clear predictions about what patriarchy would cause.

The word means different things to different people, the debate over what a feminist is has no purpose, it's fucking retarded. Words exist to describe things, to communicate information about ourselves. When someone says they're a feminist it doesn't tell use what they actually think. A rose is just as sweet by any other name, we should judge people by their views and actions, not their label.

This is what needs to be made the top issue, get in the media and very clearly put MRA groups behind this, get up there and clearly outline why the SQ is wrong. This brands us, it means people will associate us with this campaign. That branding can be used to overcome slander.

I agree, a factor (age, gender, etc) should either be open to discriminate on or not, end of story (I see rules of disability "discrimination to be seperate). I think what you're getting at is the question over factors you can or cannot control (ie. you can't control your age, gender, but you can control being a "hoon"). I think we need to look at it case by case, some people are just shit drivers, even with effort and practice they still suck, you could argue they shouldn't have to pay more bec…

It's as simple as this, either businesses should be allowed to profile based on a factor or not. Both have legitimate arguements but what can't be defended is inconsistancy. Similar stupidity also fucks over young drivers, you normally can't discriminate against older people but it's totally fine to discriminate against younger people.

The old "these people won't negotiate with me" bullshit, what you do is that in any kind of negotiation you make unreasonable demands and then when those are rejected you claim the other party has no intention of coming to an agreement.

That's the thing, if it's brought up then they will pay lip service to how it's wrong but they won't actually do anything, when men try to change the way the movement to serve men as well they are "derailing" and "focusing on minor issues" and finally if you make your own movement then you are opposing feminism and are a misogynist. You can make the arguement that 90% of criminals are victims of circumstance quite easily, but the fact remains that enforcement of laws is neccesary for the functioning of our society and that even though someone is probably a victim of circumstance the stability of society demands they be tried.

But if the arguement is "when women are seperate from men they don't get harrassed" then having 2 seats doesn't cut it. Either it's not enough of a problem and this is bullshit or it is a serious enough problem and this is a token solution. The real reason it's only 2 seats is that people look at a small gesture like that and see it as a positive thing.

I think a balence can be achieved, college isn't just learning facts it's also about a wide range of other activities and developing students into well rounded individuals as well as normalising a lifestyle that uses free time in organized activities. Exactly, these are personal relationships and no-one has the right to try to force their views on it. The reason some people don't want the option to filter by weight is because they don't want to be filtered out, it's like someone without any experience in a field not wanting employers to be able to filter job applicants by experience.

Social justice (an offshoot of acedemic feminism) is all about using multiple definitions of words to get their way, they knew "curvy" meant actual .7 waist to hip ratios. So they steal that word and to describe their mountains of lard.

The problem is that there is a biologically ingrained preference for thin women and tall men, that's a scientific fact. What the fat acceptance movement is trying to do is remove all the negative aspects of being fat even if it requires special treatment (ie. free 2nd airline seat). They also want men (lets face it, FA is pretty much just women) to find them attractive. I think the reason women select by height online so much is because it's pretty easy to bullshit stuff like "likes to travel", "enjoys cinema", most of that is total bullshit, anyone can gear a profile full of stuff like that to draw people in. Height is different, women want height, they know when a guy says "I'm 6'2" that he's gonna be tall. If you claimed to be 6'2 and rocked up to dinner then she's gonna quickly work out you were lying.

This. It's one thing to ban profiling based on gender (ie. You can't try out to be a firefighter because you're a girl) but another thing to change standards in order to get an equal outcome (lower standards for women). Similar problem in the military, there's a lot of countries that allow women in every role (as they should) but few are there because carrying an insanely heavy pack for miles isn't that achievable.

Let me get my idea straight, if you have a live child born then it's your job to take care of it. The only exemption is if you can prove someone tricked/forced you into it. An abortion prevents a child existing and so for the purposes of this conversation I considier it birth control. If a woman can't have an abortion due to medical reasons then she should still be forced to support the child. Adoption is fine if both parents agree to it, if one parent refuses to care for a child then the other …

Abortion is the superior option, it means there is never a child in want of a family.
/r/MensRights10/11/13 11:45 PM

Yes, look back at my thought experiment, if she was unable to have an abortion for medical reasons she should also have to raise the child. The determining factor is that you have a child in this world and you should take care of it.
/r/MensRights10/11/13 11:26 PM

No, the way I see it if you have a live birthed child you should care for it, if you can prevent that child being born (abortion) then that is an acceptable choice. I would have one.
/r/MensRights10/11/13 11:12 PM
-1

The way I see it unless you can prove in court that you did not consent to creating the child (rape or if you could theoretically prove she lied about being on birth control) then you are respoonsible for it. In my thought experiment the woman doesn't get to choose either, the apparent right to choose to not be parent does not exist as far as I'm concerned. If your kid exists, you take care of it. If you can prove that another person did something wrong to you to cause that child to exist (rape,…
/r/MensRights10/11/13 10:44 PM

I oppose this, the reason I support abortion rights isn't over being able to avoid parenthood, it's about being able to do what you want with your own body. That's why hypothetically if a woman was unable to have an abortion for medical reasons she still has to raise the child/pay child support. The reason having an abortion isn't the same as being a "deadbeat dad" is because being a deadbeat parent means a live child is being deprived of resources, an abortion does not do this.

The way I see it the best solution is to make marriage a situation where unless otherwise agreed divorce means 50:50 split (maybe some exemptions where one spouse purposefully burns down the house when they storm out or whatever) of property. The best form of propaganda isn't when to focus on directly telling somone something, it's when you use every mechanism to act like it is an established fact so that dissenters feel like they are a lone nutter. If feminists spent all their time screaming in peoples faces to say their right then people would assume there's an oppisiton, and seek it out. But when they do stuff like this, and act like their ideology is established facts then people get the idea that it is established facts.

I think the way we see freedom and the way they see freedom is differently. Our concept of freedom is free speech irrespective of who you are or what you are saying as long as you don't directly harm others (so vandalism is not okay). The way they see freedom of speech is that it's a means to their ideological end and that the only factor that effects whether or not speech of any kind is valid is how much it pushes the feminist agenda.

In Australia you can make 6 figure salaries as a high school graduate out at the mines, it's horrible work in every facet except for the fact that the pay (for unskilled work) is just insane, even more if you have a minor skill (like a chef). The thing is, the people at these jobs are like 80% or 90% male, women simply don't want to go up there, I don't blame them, I wouldn't, it's shitty.

Even if you were to accept the idea that there is widespread one sided discrimination this doesn't "fix" that, it's not like they can majically determine who was discriminated against and give them a pay raise, this isn't going to even out this supposed discrimination, it will make it worse.
/r/MensRights15/10/13 06:24 AM
3

The fact of the matter is that discrimination is VERY hard to prove in almost all cases, you must show that individual cases an employer chose someone on the basis of sex, how do you prove that? Well unless they do something dumb like saying "no men" then you would have to show that they thought you were a better employee but didn't hire you because you were male. Not realistically possible.
/r/MensRights30/09/13 01:47 AM

Because it's not unreasonable that the most qualified applicant were women and/or that women were disproportionatly attracted to the job. I'm talking about a restaraunt where the owner has 4 or 5 wait staff, sure when you get to a chain or larger place then mathamatically you can say that they are almost certainly discriminating but at low numbers the chance that the owner isn't discriminating is mathamatically too high to prosecute.
/r/MensRights30/09/13 01:25 AM
2

It's usually illegal, the problem is that for small businesses it's essentially impossible to prove anything except extremely obvious discrimination, the above pic could be won in court but it's not hard for an owner to interview everyone and only hire the women, it's quite hard to prove discrimination since you would have to show that the owner knew you were more qualified in every single way.

I hate how people think if they reclassify something then you make it just as bad as the other things you put it with. Recatagorising sexist jokes as violence does not make them as bad as violence, if we reclassify jaywalking as a crime against humanity it does not mean that jaywalking is as evil as genocide. The reason violence is bad is because it is fucking violence, we can relabel violence as "yutpurry" but it is still wrong.

Hooters is basically a strip club, their business sells food that in served by attractive young women in few clothes. They are allowed to discriminate because the factors that you usually aren't allowed to discriminate on the basis of (age, gender, attractiveness) are directly related to the job. It's like how a director can issue casting for a "young black male over 6 foot tall". Pretty sure a standard sushi bar is not comparable to hooters.

I'm actually going to try to break down why this is wrong, the reason that we see punishing criminals is alright is because of due process. We can say with a lot of certainty that someone in prison did the crime, they had due process, therefor it's alright to punish them. When you abandon the due process the punisher loses that legitimacy, there's a substantial chance that the person is innocent, therefor punishment is wrong.

If consent is given then that's the end of the matter (unless the person giving consent is unable to, too much alcohol, underage, being threatened), its fine. The way I see it its about burdens of proof, if no-one is doubting paternity (ie married couple with trust) then the husband is accepting to be the father, if the named father contests though then the way I see it the mother is making a claim about the responsibility and the burden should be on her. Therefor she should pay for a paternity test if the named father contests. It shouldn't be the burden of a named father to prove themselves not to be the father if named. You also have to remember pe…

So your logic is that since you can't know for sure that no is meant as no that therfore you should ignore no? If there is no consent its no, if its ambigous then you ask a clear question, if its clearly yes then go for it. Its your job to seek consent of an individual to interact with them, its like a legal contract, the burden is on the person initiating to make sure the other party is into it.

We could change every word in anti-rape bills to "lollipop" and it wouldn't change how horrible the crime is. Similarly by calling everything under the sun "rap…

Our problem is that in Australia we often don't care about things so only the nutters actually take action. There's tonnes of shit like this in Aus and we need to start calling it.

They don't want to exist within any definition of science, most of these "intellectuals" would last at most 5 minutes within a scientific environment. I do science, we don't fuck around and if you spout bullshit I and others are gonna call it. What we considier truth should be based on science not humanities or other methods of "truth finding" that feminism resembles. Your "investigation" into the world is not comparable to science, you do not get to sit at the same table. Science fucking works,…

Vote, not just in gov.t elections but those for non-gov.t things like college clubs or even sporting clubs. I am part of a student club that has some fucked up policies (womens only tournaments, quotas at the other tournaments) and I make sure I never vote for anyone who takes part in these activities or condones them. Argue, don't just give up when some nutjob starts off on their patriachy and oppression rant, the reason creationism (its not that different, its a group that starts from a stupid…

That same "womens programs" shit is rife in the debating community to, our club board has a "womans officier" (must be a woman and gets to vote on motions), we have womens quotas for tournaments (subsidised tournaments) and "womens meetings" to decide how to spend club money on "womens debating tournament". Thats right club money is being spent on programs men can't access based purely off our gender. Then whenever they are criticised they put on the whole "women are discriminated against" and "…

Its stupid, rape is a very serious offence and having a university taking care of the acusation is wrong for everyone because their procedures fail to both ensure due process for the accused and lack the ability to proporly investigate to find the culprit.

Guys (and women) this is not going to stop until we are willing to change our votes over it. You know why gun laws never pass in the US despite having popular support, because democrats who like guns are more likely to change their votes to republican if the democrats support gun laws then gun hating republicans are to change their votes to democrats. Pro-gun people keep winning (despite being a minority) because they are willing to change their votes, they call their representative and say "you…

My debating club has a "womans officier" and runs "womens debating tournaments" and every major tournament has a "womens meeting" and a "womens debate". This is because women are systamatically discriminated against. Yes, the people who go on and on about how women are discriminated against and pressured out of debating then get together and have an explicetly discriminatory meeting about running an explicetly discriminatory tournament.

I don't care for semantics, this guy is in a relationship with a minor, she cannot consent to being in this "relationship". If she was 18 I would be in agreement but she is not of legal age and this sicko needs to be hunted down.

Its not just the professors, my debating team, as you would expect, questions ideas but when it comes to feminism and "privlidge" they seem to go into a kind of trance of groupthink and spend every word they can get out to denounce any criticism of feminism or "privlidge".

If I could employ women to do the same job for less pay why would I hire men?
/r/MensRights02/05/13 06:25 AM

No because in "3rd wave feminism land" this man who doesn't want to work these hours is a pathetic loser but a woman who wants the executive job and the executive pay but not the executive, how do I say this? Work? is a hero standing up for equal pay. In all seriousness we should be payed on merit, why you refuse to work particular hours is irrelevent.

Why is it so wrong for people who are unable to work long unpredictable hours and interupt their careers to be payed less for lower jobs? If you can't do 8 hours of overtime and jump on a plane overseas with 10 minutes notice then you are a worse employee then someone who can. Having kids does this to you. Simply not being willing to do so makes you a worse employee.

Don't do that, its surprising how well accepted a stupid idea can be if its normalised and repeated enough. Whenever an idea is not challenged in society it continues to be accepted, I would say some 80% of people are sheep, they might be smart but they are still sheep and don't instictively challenge things. Most people base at least some of their views on the legitimacy of an idea on how much dissent there is. Dissent may be unpopular, I have and will lose friends for dissenting, but its far b…

Don't just object to a womens officier because theres no mens officier, object to it by challenging the idea that women are being discriminated against. We make post after post talking about how stupid some feminism ideas are but unless we public engage and challenge them their stupid ideas will stand as fact. Remember the reason that propaganda often succeeds isn't because it makes sense, we often look back and ask ourselves how stupid people must have been to beleive it. But people didn't bele…

Opose all AA
/r/MensRights17/04/13 01:39 AM

Yes technically this is better then just women getting AA but by endorsing it we ARE ENDORSING AA, when much smaller levels of AA are endorsed and publicised like this then it also spreads the idea that men benefit as much as women (when obviously this isn't the case) and that therfore our criticism of things like womens quotas are hypocritical or void. Femo-facists already have positive public opinion we shouldn't helo that along.

If an individual receives a position within an organisation with AA that they would not receive if the organisation lacked AA then they are being hired of someone else.
