Well if a lot of the problems they feel is caused by patriarchy - a social system in which the male is the primary authority figure, then one of the primary objectives would be to try to increase the number of females in the highest positions, with hopes of a trickle-down effect and change over the whole society? I can understand why the rules are there in r/feminism, there are 18.8k subscribers and around 40-60 viewers at a time, for something that's a big movement irl, compared to a subreddit like this which has 66k subscribers and 300-360 viewers at a time. I don't see much point in trying to debate something if it's made clear they are uninterested, you can tell it would be fruitless just a few lines down. I'm wondering, is George Takei's statement a negative towards men? Just a statement concerning rape of women? It doesn't help that people take such crazy measures when drama appears on the internet, she's been made a victim, and I'm sure the two guys will be coming off even worse because of it. At the end of the day a few people get to be smug about the guy being fired, a few people get to be smug about her being fired, and I'm sure a lot of people got some weird satisfaction of sending threats to her too, but for the people involved, everyone loses.

It wouldn't surprise me if there is evidence/research that shows your thoughts and opinions are influenced by your environment. I imagine if the only form of interaction a person had with others was via voice chat on Call of Duty, then maybe they might. But that facebook post is batshit crazy.

It's all a bit mixed. From what I read/see in the media it seems like false rape gets a lot more attention than rape, although from what I hear coming from India, it seems to be the other way around. I wouldn't cry foul just because this particular story isn't the most shocking news. Rape happens, false charges happen, India is fucked up.
