I meant that whenever someone makes a statement about themselves, I think about the likeliness of it being true and whether it sounds right or not instead of just trusting people

I wasn't involved directly. All I was told was the guy gave the police access to his records. This happened in the US and he was with Verizon, I believe. I think the police did get a warrant just to be safe, but the guy was completely compliant and helping the investigation. He might have provided the content of some texts from his phone but they definitely did also get phone records from the company which backed his innocence.

I don't know about other women, but the one I knew was just fucked up. After she was discovered to be lying, her parents put her in the top mental health facility in the state. It's a private hospital you can't even just show up to. You have to be evaluated by several professionals before they even start official treatment of you. We eventually found out she had a bunch of mental issues that ranged from common stuff like depression and anxiety to possibly some harcore stuff like anti-social pers…

I can't speak for all carriers and obviously I didn't see the records myself, I was told this second hand from the case counselor (since she was a minor, one was immediately assigned to her). He was with Verizon I believe and since the guy that was being accused was an adult, all he had to do was call Verizon and give permission for the police to have his records, IIRC.
