I'm aware that the article is a bit over a year old, though I wasn't aware that linking "old news" was frowned upon.. As I wrote in my first post here, I did try to search to see if the article/case had been posted before. Totally aware of that :-) But as you said, her being a woman may cause them to favor her, and that's what I think might have happened here. There's more than enough data available indicating that women get lesser sentences for crimes than men, and even though I don't have any statistics available on this; I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that they also have a higher chance of being found not guilty as in this case.
