This might not be popular, but I think you need to unplug. If you can afford it, I'd take some time off and go somewhere to get your head straight. If you're suicidal, this might be a professional retreat. Or it could be an extended break. The point is, you need to disrupt you're thoughts. Get away for a bit. You will come back more refreshed.

I wouldn't leave the kid. Do the right thing and stick around for him. Raising him properly and being a rock for him will be your biggest contribution in life.

Yes - I'm not running away. Just getting prepared if things go south. The kids are my top priority. The problem is, at least what I'm anticipating, is my feminist wife might think this is a war. You know, "I'll show him" type attitude. I hope it won't lead to this. It seems the minority of men come out of divorce okay in Cali, so I'm just prepping now. Sounds like the attorney is fleecing you. 65k is a lot to not see the finish line. Grant it, I don't know crap. I'm only at the beginning of the journey in Cali.. Maybe consult another attorney to verify his moves....

If you don't have children, run. If children aren't involved yet then absolutely get a divorce NOW. She's broken and not repairable. There is no changing someone that is damaged from early trauma. Even if you'll lose money in the process, divorce her...
