It's really hard to tell based on the minimal information you've given us. However, judging from what you've written I can point out a few of my concerns. First off, your objective should not be 'owning' the room. I'm not quite sure what you mean by this but this is not the African savannah. You don't need to be 'the Alpha male' and you don't need to be asserting your presence or dominance in this context. Try to change your mindset from 'owning a room' to 'have a good time with friends'. Second…

I was partly kidding. But when you're starting 2 out of 5 main points with "This might sound vague.." you may want to think about saying some tangible stuff instead. Most of the guys who need this advise, myself included, can use the practical stuff more than the abstract ideas of "be this, be that".

I don't disagree with your thoughts. When you put it like that I agree and I can understand. But when I see it in posts like "How do I escalate kino with a girl who has a boyfriend?" it kinda pisses me off. I've seen people throwing around the expression Alpha like they're trying to be the leader of a pack of dogs or something. That's the kind of thing that worries me about this sub-reddit. Its almost a douchebag factory. I have nothing against most of the people and posts here, but I think gets…

Regardless of how this pans out I think you've done the right thing by being straightforward and honest with her. From your explanation it sounds like she may still be clinging on to some emotional baggage, your honesty in effect also allows her to be open with you. Maybe she wasn't ready to move things at the pace you'd like, but you've taken the first step and now the ball is basically in her court. Until then, stay relaxed and don't fret over it. If you're overly pushy you're likely to just p…

There was a time when I planned conversations like this. I would go through them anticipating the girl's responses. I would often talk out loud in the shower before a date to practice saying it naturally. The reality is that most conversations don't go that way. Most of the girls I know would look at you funny if you suddenly started with that strawberry fields bullshit. In theory it sounds do-able but it's better to follow seddit's main advice; be yourself, be confident (even if you don't feel …

Thanks for the tip, I think I've got listening down pat though. What I was really trying to say is that sometimes you can't really help being that dude despite your intentions. Breadrising has made a nice point by saying... There is quite a blurry line between one-upping and being generally excited about sharing an experience. Ultimately patience is key. Listen carefully, and like you said you will have time to tell your story when it suits the situation. Appreciate the insight.

I dislike one-uppers as much as the next guy, but from time to time I find myself 'being that guy'. I moved around a lot as a kid, and to keep things short I got to meet some cool people and go to some interesting places along the way. Sometimes when I'm talking to people I feel like I'm doing it unconsciously. Them; "Oh yeah we went on vacation and it was like 35 degrees Celsius man, so fucking hot!" Me; "Oh man this one time when I was living in Tunisia it went up to 49! the tar on the roads w…

Coffee in daylight. Build rapport. Discuss interesting movies, music or books that you conveniently have at home. Suggest going to your place to further 'discuss' movie/book/music etc. End coffee. Man up, don't hesitate and hold her hand as you lead the way out of the cafe. Small gesture that's gonna escalate the physical side of things quite quickly. You don't even need to say anything because the action alone will basically tell her you are into her. Get home. Let go of her hand sometime in be…

I agree with you on your opinion reggie. I'm not trying to paint everyone on this subreddit as a jerk, I'm just sad that this is becoming the go-to place for douchebags.
