I would be very confused if somebody asked me why I went to Disney by myself. I'm a man and have been going with family, friends, and alone for years. Sometimes, when visiting as an adult the people I've traveled with to Orlando or family there couldn't/ didn't care to go walk around all day in the summer heat.

I think the bigger problem is that there's sooo many stereotypical roles in media that just don't line up with facts. They're not necessarily supposed to and one doesn't need to create meaning in their personal life based on popular culture. Wherever you got that info you should try to find out what age that changes (3yo?) and start the paperwork out now...
