Sorry that you were victimized...

Just googled it, and it looks like that technology (gestation via incubator) doesn't exist just yet so men would still need women as surrogates... either way, I get the feeling that we're in for some pain, if you're optimistic then that's great

There are always sperm banks and simps that can allow them to keep reproducing... Nature + modern technology is putting them in a fairly advantageous position. Again, maybe I'm being too pessimistic, but I seem to notice that a lot of these women seem to make an exception for the top 10% to 1% of men and reserve their misandry for the rest of us...

The other possibility is that the way things are going, she will come across a lot of boys/men who society has programmed to be subservient and lots of other women who uphold and reinforce her beliefs and that this group could become large enough and powerful enough to be insulated from consequences. I don't mean to be pessimistic but I fear that us men are in for an era of further marginalization and maybe eventually oppression that breaks a lot of us for generations... I hope I'm wrong but wit…

I was going to say the same thing. They will play it down as a single example in a sea of patriarchal oppression or say that they women and girls are more vulnerable (relatively) and that men will already be prioritized due to systemic privilege or come up with some other mental gymnastics to carry on with their agenda. Honestly, this is something I am seeing across the entire left, they just want to get ahead at someone's expense while maintaining the facade of virtue, and it's disgusting and I…

Okay, I think I get what you're saying, past prejudice cannot be reconciled with the reverse prejudice now it can only be reconciled by letting go of all prejudices. For my part, I also think that working to give people what they need right now (without prejudice or discrimination) i.e. policies that take care of people's basic needs and allow them to exist and progress in a space free of discrimination/prejudice is how we actually get to a fair, balanced, and for lack of a better word progressi…

Sorry , that sucks that you were abused. All abuse is bad and no one should get a pass for it because their gender / sex is seen as more sympathetic. You deserve to be heard and to be vindicated, but as you know life is often not fair or righteous.

I commend you for calling out misogyny. I hear what you are saying about the limitations and even risks of being an ally (and often stay quite for this reason) and also understand how toxic shaming can become. Also I certainly don't want to push anyone including yourself as I've been pushed quite a bit myself and don't want to experience this further either so your feelings about this resonate. I just want to engage and learn from others. Your perspective was valuable towards this. I appreciate …

I was thinking more access to the labor market and capital for survival and to an extent at least a little more access to power but I understand that a lot of the power was concentrated in the hands of a few and that most everyone else was struggling.

I appreciate what you're saying. At some point it becomes too cumbersome to do all the oppression calculus and it really just makes sense to work on bringing people together and focus on meeting peoples needs so that we can move forward. Thanks for taking the time out to answer my question. It's helpful to get this perspective.

It seems women are more coordinated when it comes to acting collectively. I think one thing that could help is for men to start supporting each other (this sub is a great example) and also withdraw association from the men who do this, especially when those men find themselves cast out (and honestly women who do this as well), there needs to be some consequences to throwing other men under the bus. Admittedly, we are limited in how much leverage we can exercise, but we need to start somewhere.

I may get downvoted for this too but I think that men are in an inferior position to women right now. Women through years of collective liberation are able to access and express the full range of human emotion/energy from masculine to feminine including the roles they can play in society. In addition they are the ones who can gestate life which requires more labor. Consequently I think men crave sex more (biologically) and are at a loss for intimacy (socially conditioned). Further with women out…

I was also wondering this and also why women would be okay with their men being part of the "all other men group" to every other woman. I think in their mind it's like a group affiliation thing wherein by being connected to them, their man, becomes part of an implied group of men that are the good ones, and that every other men that hasn't been vouched for by a women, particularly a sufficiently progressive/feminist woman. Then, they (the unvouched for men) are guilty by association until proven…

u/Beginning_Addition_3 u/ExcitableSarcasm I have heard some people say that it's different because of the history of marginilization. Men had collective privilege over women, whites had collective privilege over blacks therefore comparing prejudice towards blacks to prejudice towards men is not accounting for the direction of net oppression in both cases, i.e. women can be subversive towards men but whites cannot be subversive towards blacks. It kind of makes sense to me. Can you please let me k…

At the risk of sounding like a simp, do we call out misogyny ever? Maybe we just assume that we cannot influence the men who act in misogynistic ways, silently categorize ourselves as different and righteous, and then move forward. I'm not trying to give women who are being hateful a pass but what if we're really not holding ourselves and other men accountable? What do you think? I really want your honest opinion on this? If I'm wrong can you please tell me why?

On a tangential note, I think that we need 3rd spaces again. If we had more of this and could connect with our fellow humans we wouldn't be exposed to all these internet gurus and their crazy takes all the time. Also, might be good to have unions back (or increased) as it would make is easier to earn a living and have some more time to connect with our fellow humans!

Yes, I've heard other progressives say the same thing. I think many of us men (including myself) are coping somewhat with our loss of status. Also, even though we have made gains to dismantle a lot of the patriarchy, especially those that harm women, we as a society, including feminists, are still holding up some of the norms that harm men, because in the aggregate, women/powerful men/ and even some progressive men may be benefiting from the exploitation of middle and lower class men under these…

This slightly a tangent but when I hear a lot of behaviors that women/society complain about like having to their male partners/coworkers how to do things or repeatedly having to stay on top of them, the behaviors they are often complaining about seem like they could be stemming from Neurodiversity/disability and somehow women who have these are somehow either able to mask better or are considered more sympathetic (in some cases)

That might be the way to go then. Just have three separate spaces to accomodate each population.

Okay, I didn't see that part. Thanks for pointing that out. I see your where you're coming from. These things can certainly snowball into some of the scenarios where we are seeing women openly calling men second class beings or even worse and they are celebrated by parts of the progressive left for it. Fair enough.

I understand people's sense of outrage. Does the fact that it is one room in the facility for one hour two days a week, change how anyone views it? The rest of the facility is available to men. If I'm understanding the argument correctly the fear is stemming from men being stronger, and perhaps more prone to physical violence (though I understand this claim is challenged and perhaps false) and this helps women and non-binary who are historically and perhaps currently marginalized (maybe non-bina…

I have to disagree, I feel affinity for them the more struggle I have to go through. They were ruthlessly exploited and decimated. That one girl ended up killing herself. The pain and suffering that they must have experienced is awful. We had actual slavery where black people were brutalized, raped, tortured, and killed. and people held picnics right next to their slain bodies. How can you say that current-day feminism is anything close to this?

I agree, he is way worse and Andrea Dworkin was actually the victim of abuse as well and may have been quite traumatized. WTS, the underlying point that misandry does exist and is minimized in many feminist circles resonates with me for sure.

I saw the video and if what she describes is true then there probably are a lot of men who are not very keen on contributing to their partner and kids… cause there were a lot of women who talked about leaving and being much happier. I think that we’re caught in a rough period where our women’s dependency on us and our relative roles are changing and our society did not prepare us. I can look back and can see how I reflected some of these negative traits earlier in my life. WTS I also think that …

I love how the older generation of men who enjoyed all this privilege are so quick to throw younger men under the bus and how they are often lauded for it. It seems like those of us of the historically privileged groups who are struggling the most seem to receive the brunt of the attack, if that makes sense. Also, I wish that intersectionality would focus on class a lot more, as that covers a significantly larger swath of the population, but that seems to have to wait until white women of the el…

I appreciate that you take the responsibility off of groups(men, women, etc) and mention that most of us are struggling under the boot of a small powerful group but just in different ways. I'm glad that you could come to this position and that you were brave enough to state it here. IMHO, we need more Feminists and Men's advocates to be able to stake out common ground so that we can all ward off extremists from both camps.

"If you want to be big boss lady, doesn't it stand to reason that you should be finding a nurturing, tender natured man who will keep house and home and support your career?" If I'm not mistaken this is another complaint of feminism, that there are not enough men who can step outside their prescribed gender roles to take up more caretaking / domestic labor... Just curious, What do you think of the Forward Party as an alternative to the current duopoly? Most people dislike both parties and the Forward Party seems pragmatic (to me anyway) and might be able to unite enough people to push a few solutions through and get us unstuck. They also say "Well women are individuals and can't be responsible for the actions of other women" but continue to treat men like a monolith. They are so belligerent about it and their behavior is never considered hostile. I was thinking something similar, I empathize with them and can only imagine some of the pain that comes experiencing misogyny their whole life but I also feel like most of their misandry won’t get aimed at the misogynists who hold the most power and make life difficult for all of us and instead a lot (and maybe most) of it will be aimed at men like us who would have rather allied with them to affect change but instead most of us will end up more hurt and angry and bitter

I have so much to say about intersectionality and yet so little time to write it out. Suffice to say that I despise it, not because of its intended purpose, but because of how grievously it has failed in its mission. I mean this without hyperbole---I have never seen an idealogy so outrageously go against its own mission as severely as intersectionality. They use shaming language to trigger embarrassment and guilt for not doing as they say or target the masculinity of their victim to push him into affirming it via doing their bidding. They are manipulative, ruthless and absolutely callous when it comes to dealing with male humans, but the tactics they use are tailor made to entrap men into becoming their allies and even hating their own gender. But then the exact same concept is labeled "internalized misogyny" if the subject is women, and there an agenda is made crystal clear. Do you mind elaborating on this and giving some examples?
