I find the women only screenings ironic given that Amazonians wanted to be separate and WW felt they should integrate. That's all I'll say about that. Otherwise...I personally don't think WW added much value to female empowerment in this movie. Looks very one sided to anyone that knows how to fight. She begins the one leg takedown and he doesn't attempt to strike her back showing he's been preprogrammed not to hit girls. She then she pretty much suplexes him and he still doesn't strike back. At the end you can hear him talking meaning he's neither knocked out not nonsensical just trying to defend his head. If he actually raised his hand to strike her back this would have been a different story.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, a huge contributing factor to that is obesity. I only bring this up because we shouldn't be pushing for our society to further saturate with fat acceptance by marketing to boys. While those Barbies aren't exactly obese, it's following a trend towards the acceptance of obesity. Personally I think dolls shouldn't be a standard to judges oneself against but if that is what is happening we should tailor the tool to promote a healthy lifestyle…

I understand that it makes no difference to the narrative, I was just pointed to the first few lines were the writer is unable to get the story out of their thoughts. Have they even considered that what they are about to construct doesn't even rely on facts of what happened or are the comfortable not only building a narrative but ignoring that it potentially springs from something that didn't even happen as presented?

Have any of you guys actually read the story behind this? All the boys have been released from jail because neither the father not daughter could pick them out of a line up and the boys say they came across the woman and her father having sex and asked to join. Cellphone clips taken by one of the suspects somewhat confirms this claim. If anything, both the father and daughter could be considered monsters here.

Eh, I've personally never gotten that from my fiancés family as they all know she has next to no home making skills. Occasionally some of her friends do say things like that. I let it wash over me because it doesn't really phase me. She on the other hand is quick to correct them its pretty odd. Moral of the story, just don't give a fuck, unless it bothers you than speak up and point out you are an adult not a child or dog. That usually gets the point across

I think you are missing the point. Not all men will find the lack of male spaces an issue. You and i are among them, however, this clearly isn't the case for everyone. Then again how did you meet and establish these relationships? What about men that lack confidence to speak to anyone around women for fear of being overheard and ending up in a situation where they've offended someone. While this may be farfetched, this is the reality for people, one that can be exacerbated.

What do you mean by that? The 'colonization' of male spaces may not be something feminist intentionally do but it is a result of the campaigns to have girls and women forced into places men and boys have exclusively to themselves.

While I agree they have been kicking ass I think there is way less about their success and way more about pandering to a female audience. Role models are great but role models in sports should be more of a shining beacon of the inequality between men and women than as a way to say women are amazing too. Also really hate that hope solo was there even though the president didn't say her name.

For starters I have not read the article. But I have always questioned the notion that men just need to talk more about their feelings and suicide rates will go down given that those same people will go on and say that women 'attempt' to commit suicide at a higher rate. Well if talking was the answer, wouldn't the group that is generally know for expressing ones feelings be less likely to even attempt suicide?
