You would be a hypocrite if you, too, were in sex/porn work. Many guys would have just as many sexual partners as the woman in question if the opportunity presented itself. Many guys already have but are still placing judgement on the woman. This, too, is hypocrisy. The problem arises when you hold another person to a higher standard than you hold yourself based on their gender. This goes both ways and is a common grievance in this subreddit.

I can't be 100% sure about the sexual selection as it may be based on behavior but I do not believe there is a genetic component to it and I think that's the key when discussing anything related to biology. Since we have numerous cases of men that don't have these types of hang ups when it comes to female chastity, I would have to say that it is most likely an overwhelming psychological phenomenon. That doesn't mean your grief is any less valid, but that there is a more tangible component.

Actually, as shitty as it is physical characteristics do matter in light of biology. It's the reason sexual selection exists - the passing on of genes in hopes of making another person that will in turn also reproduce. Having a small penis is not an optimal trait to have otherwise you wouldn't have used it as an example. A woman can tell it is small even in the dark. I don't think the number of partners would matter to you if you were married to the same woman for 30 years and had a history with…

So would you suggest that women just not tell their partner how many people they've been with? You're suggesting that there is no judgement so what harm is there in not knowing?

I can understand where you're coming from but the examples in my head have a logical conclusion as to why that person is not the ideal mate. Some things I could think of that would be a deal breaker: bad driver, hates animals/kids, rude, disrespectful to his mom, can't hold a job or maintain a license, etc. but placing standards of chastity on a woman that the person in question does not hold to themselves is something completely different. It is hypocritical, oppressive, and hurtful in many way…

This isn't any different from a woman finding a man attractive only to find out his penis is small and that really affecting her. She wants to move past it, but can't. Same here. Please note your edits so I can reply accordingly. I am very sympathetic to your situation, but I still see it more as a symptom than a preference. I would not want to be with someone that could not accept me for all that I am and have been. She likely felt shame for your decision and inability to get over it. Our minds…

It probably has more to do with your upbringing than you might attribute to biology.

Because it's not really a preference but a trivial idealogy. We can change our opinions when we are given evidence and counterarguments that suggest we are wrong. Being the higher-thinking humans that we are, it is possible to get away from this type of thinking. Many people have done it and it's not because they are defective. For many people it's an ongoing struggle, but the first step is to be conscious of the problem.

this has NOTHING to do with rape, so dont even start. This topic has a lot to do with social psychology. A lot of guys are saying it's a preference and leave out the why. When we break it down enough guys really don't know why it is a big deal for them. A lot of guys can get past it because they haven't been as indoctrinated to think of women in a certain way. The fact is that social pressure to stay clean and pure for only one gender causes social shame even for rape victims. It is a damaging w…

Perhaps you should ask the billions of people who have continued to have sex with the same vagina without noticing/caring how tight or loose it is. No one is taking measurements because nobody gives a fuck except for the guys here. The fact that you think this is an actual problem suggests that you are sexually inexperienced and should go outside. I own a vagina so I'd think I'd know a little bit about the vagina department. I have also talked to OB/GYNs who have reinforced the fact that vaginas…

This insinuates that you think of women as something for your consumption. Not trying to make you look like an asshole, but perhaps you should revisit this type of thinking and consider why it's wrong. Rape victims are often discouraged from coming forward because they've been taught as young girls that girls who aren't virgins are viewed as "chewed gum." Sometimes preferences set a trajectory of discrimination and this, in general, hurts society and is a step away from equality which is what we…

I am proof. Had 2 kids, husband can't tell a difference. It's like nature wanted it that way or something.

So this is an interesting topic that I have brought up with some colleagues as an intellectual discussion. It has shifted from "well of course if she's slept with a lot of guys what's to stop her from continuing this pattern after marriage?" to "well maybe it's a primal instinct to avoid a woman who sleeps around so that it's easier to determine paternity" to "well actually I don't know why I care I just do." This is a phenomenon that goes far back into history, and is the source of much discrim…
