I don’t even know the twisted logic of it all, but it’s something like a woman being sexist against women, in this case I’m sexist against myself lol.

I’m a woman in her 50s and I don’t feel I’ve ever experienced sexism. I’ve always been confident (but shy) and just assumed I can do whatever my brothers did - and I have! No one has held me back or made me feel bad for being female. I’ve dealt with plenty of assholes of both genders, sure. And like you, my worst bosses were women - I was treated terribly by one in particular. When I posted on another sub about not experiencing sexism of course other women said I had and was either lying or igno…

100%. There are a couple things that we really focus on with our son - treat others how you’d like to be treated, and you teach people how to treat you. That’s the foundation he can build on.

I can say that there are women out there doing things, such as myself. I work at a charitable foundation and I help to make sure that the foundation gives funds to men's rights groups (there aren't many but a new men's centre sprang up in our community (we gave them a grant to get them off the ground) a few years ago, and there are a few others in my country), and we do not donate to women's (feminist) groups. When I get an application from a non-profit like the Scouts, for instance, and they as…

Yeah, I have signs as well, but different ones than my husband - I've read that it's common for people with disorders like ADHD to marry, I guess because they can relate to each other in many ways, and have more patience for each others' quirks. Who knows, just something to think about, and as I said, some of the organizational tips may help. Best of luck!

That's funny, it's so much easier to make phone calls and do the budget entries, etc., from my job, too - I'm a bookkeeper, so I'm used to it. That's one of the reasons I haven't really pushed for him to take over yet. I also actually enjoy working with numbers. But like I said, I'm also tired of carrying the mental burden. One of the reasons that my husband struggles with impulse shopping and had his secret credit cards was because he has ADHD. I have to say, your husband's behaviour sounds sim…

You are not alone. I control my family's finances as well. My husband has gotten himself into debt in the past and has done the secret credit card thing as well. He is currently a stay at home dad, and I would like him to take over the financial reigns because I don't like feeling like his mother in this regard. I'm also tired of having all of the responsibility and worry. Do you think your husband is capable of changing and learning? I do think my husband is, but I'm scared to let go. I'm inter…

I had a meeting with the president of one of our universities here in Canada last week, and he said that they have had to start limiting the number of women they accept or else they'd only have women attend - its been this way for a few years at least (he didn't specify when they started). He said that they secretly have lower entrance requirements for men. He said its a serious problem across Canada. He felt the school systems were geared towards girls, and boys were suffering as a result. It w…

It's been a few years so I don't remember exactly, but someone did suggest that hormones should be investigated - at the time my son's doctor was sending him to a urologist and a paediatrician who specialises in Anxiety Disorders and was refusing to test his thyroid, cortisol, etc. So that did help me start investigating that area more thoroughly. There are a few articles about Crowdmed helping people, I'm on mobile right now but when I get on my laptop I'll add a link.

Crowdmed took our case for free - they gave me some good leads but missed the actual diagnosis. I turned out to be Hashimoto's but the symptoms were so strange that it was really hard to figure out - it started with severe genital pain for about a year, then progressed to seizures, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks then weight gain and more stretch marks, body and face swelling - just weird stuff that his family doctor can't even believe is thyroid related but it is.

There is a website called Crowdmed that crowd sources a diagnosis. You can pay, but they also take cases for free if they're compelling enough. My son spent 2 years bedridden and in pain. He was a teenager (still is). He had to drop out of high school. He saw a ton of specialists and no one could figure out what he had. I did my own research 4-8 hours a day and narrowed it down to a few things. I found a doctor who would listen to me and test him for what I thought it was. I was right. It's been…
