A guy approached me in the makeup section of a grocery store, of all places, and began with this really uncomfortable small talk. Unfortunately for him, I am awkward as fuck and happened to be in a bad mood that day, so I just stared at him and walked away without a word. Was this dude just camped out by the nail polish, hoping to get a date? I don't understand why they waste their time.

Oh my god, I'm cringing at your description. I'd love to have sex at some point but the world is crawling with dusty weirdos.

Please stop dealing with him. You have a good heart and he is talking advantage of it, even if he's not doing so maliciously. He needs professional help and it's his responsibility to get it.

These seem innocuous and slightly annoying habits, but it generally means that the person assumes someone else will clean up after them. It's deeply disrespectful and entitled behavior. Just little things that tell her "I don't give a fuck about you."

This reminds me of my first job out of college as an admin assistant. One of our clients would always call me "little lady" and it seemed so charming at the time.... I cringe looking back on it now. The disrespect! It's disturbing how this is such a common way of flirting. You must be very beautiful and strong for this dude to neg you like this.

It's sad, and a common solution on that sub is to simply lower one's expectations because other aspects of the relationship are "fine." I don't have room to talk because I'm in a DB situation myself, but I'm trying to grow some self respect, slowly but surely.

I was going to suggest this. Creative pursuits and physical activity can channel some of that sexual energy.

Every woman I've met has been admirable in some way, and I see the beauty in all of them. There's a bit of goddess in every woman.

Wow, you are an inspiration. You had a vision and put in the work, and now you're living the life you always wanted. I wish you continued success!

Compare this to the countless women (myself included) who have stayed with a struggling partner because we care about their wellbeing and don't want to leave them at their lowest point. Some men are actually demonic. Also, what a weird situation to be dreaming up in the first place.

Thanks friend! I know that things will get better soon.

I've been in a slump lately, so it's been difficult to get into anything creative. Instead I'm focusing more on practical tasks like putting together a donation pile and beautifying my bedroom. I had a piece of beautiful orange taffeta sitting around, and I've hung it above my desk. Hopefully it will become a dream board of sorts. This period of isolation has been an opportunity to focus on meditative cleaning and getting my life back together.

My sister loves Carole and Tuesday! Princess Tutu sounds really interesting; I love ballet.

It reinforces a lot of harmful fantasies about what to expect from women, and yes there's a lot that's pedophilia-adjacent (I'd say straight up pedophilia sometimes). Out of curiosity, what shows DO you recommend?

This is amazing advice, and so simple and sensible.

When they view your emotions, needs and interest as less real than their own. A man has subjectivity but women don't. In other words... each person is the protagonist of their own story, but some men only view women as NPC's. It's just incredibly low empathy, and unfortunately it's widespread.

Maybe you're developing crushes on strangers because they haven't had a chance to disappoint you, and they likely never will because you know nothing will come of it. It's safe to fantasize.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Woman have so much compassion and love to give, and I'm glad you're giving that love to yourself.

It's Matthew McConaughey from True Detective, with added "Jesus hair."

hugs I will read the shit out of that essay. This is another industry where unhealthy competition between women is encouraged. They want to keep you guys fighting over the same scraps while the men build each other up. Edited bc I kneecapped my own FDS comment 🙄

Porn is at least partially to blame. Any time I've seen porn where they try to do anything for the woman's pleasure, it's more like the guy is doing something to her. So much aggressive fingering, and the whole obsession with squirting has taught men a lot of bad habits. And most lesbian porn is worse.

Any time I've had a friendship with a man, I ended up feeling drained emotionally. It's like these guys knew they needed therapy but didn't want to put in the money or effort. They add nothing to my life and cannot extend the same compassion or interest that female friends can. There are many quality men out there but most will just take from you.

It's honestly so disappointing but it happens every time. And they're usually so transparent about it, not even trying to pretend they're interested in your actual friendship.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
