It’s meant to be an insult to make fun of a men who romantically put women on a pedestal for much less socially and emotionally in return. Typically aimed at men doing things you would normally do for a girlfriend. Such as paying for meals/tickets etc. But instead doing so for a woman who has no intention of romantic reciprocation. No, it’s just a gendered insult. It started as purely playful banter/teasing. But like all these things, got out of hand and gets overused. To the point it can make…

Okay grandad.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/25 09:58 PM

Are the vast majority of women unhappy in their gender role in heterosexual dating? That’s quite a loaded statement. With a lot of assumptions and implications about the typical relationship and dynamics within it. I mean maybe.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/25 12:45 PM

I think there’s an element of underlying truth to all of it. But I think that it’s massively extrapolated by the fact that most men who are perfectly content and happy in life and in happy relationships are not on red/black/purple pill communities . I’d hesitate to call them troglodytes, but I think these spaces are full of men who haven’t found their feet in life yet. And whether from loneliness or frustration turn to pill communities to vent. And that’s fed upon by larger red pill commercial a…

In the real world where I live, I don’t see this. What I see are more women taking positions of responsibility where men would have previously had them. And more women thriving independently of men. So I think it creates an illusion that men are failing, when really it’s just starting to balance out a historical norm. That said… there is good evidence that men are increasingly doing worse in school and higher education (if going to university at all). I also do think that there’s an identity cri…

The point about resources and a healthy environment is really pertinent.

This is such an immature world view. People get more unattractive as they age, absolute shocker. Women probably have it worse than men because human societies have much higher beauty standards for woman for a variety of biological and social reasons. There are probably more older men punching by virtue of a few attractive characteristics they’ve obtained with age. But an expiration date!? Fuck that. No such thing; everyone is different and that’s a horrible way to put it. Anecdotally it’s not tr…

Eh… I mean I guess it’s kinda boring if you see the same thing over and over. They do all sound a bit like they’re written by a single mum who’s desperate for an actual connection. But tbh, none are really red flags. It’s hard to think of something original as a one liner to get someone’s attention. I don’t blame some women for going for the first thing that comes to their mind or a bit of sass. Or just using friends profiles for inspiration. And if you’re even slightly attractive as a woman, it…

What do you think about the way the military works, where an officer is commissioned to lead a platoon of soldiers who each have their own individual specialisms (e.g., machine gunner, mortar team, etc…) Where the officer is trained to be a “leader” but is usually younger than you, less experienced and likely not better than you at your specific role. Their only achievement is spending a year doing an officers training scheme where they learn to lead in a combat scenario and then instantly injec…

I kind of mean both and the answer is murkey because a lot of the time yes and a lot of the time no. Ask yourself if as a woman, if you’d be attracted to masculine behaviour? A guy being rough, laddish, boisterous. Maybe he likes cars or fighting or sports, maybe he’s gentlemanly or “brave” in a stereotypical masculine sense. The answer I would guess you’d say, is that you’re attracted to some of those traits but not all of them. That it depends on the context, the specific man, how he does it. …

Most men who are straight are attracted to femininity. Some format of social signal that you’re a woman and not a man. But that comes in all shapes, sizes, personalities and expressions. That’s dependant on cultural background, upbringing, experience and personal preference. Acting feminine as in stereotypical nurturing, soft washes the dishes type is absolutely 100% not a prerequisite in any way. Some men are attracted to that, hats off to them. Those things can signal that you’re fitting into …

I can’t think of a single real person in my life who actually hates their opposite gender. People bitch as all people do, but in the end, get along if and when they talk to each other and spend time together. It’s just weird creepy divisive internet takes like this and some red pill men that push these angles. People with grudges who have nothing better do.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/25 09:53 PM

Come on dude. That was actually a pretty reasonable red pill take.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/25 09:47 PM

Remember that people go through life desiring & imagining their future with a partner, children, a family, etc… Then imagine just accepting they’ll never have that. I don’t know about you? But as a child, when my parents talked about my future… it was always when you have children, when you get married, when you have a family of your own. Not if you get married. Make of that phrasing what you will. I wonder what sort of effect that phrasing has on young men and women and how they see themselves …

I think most men realise this, but just ignore it because they don’t want to address the actual problem. Which is so many men have essentially no social life. They don’t play sports, they partake in hardly any mixed gender spaces, the friends they do have they only see in-frequently, so they don’t network outside their tiny bubbles. So these lonely guys just end up downloading dating apps because it’s an easy way to access a sort of dating market, and make themselves feel like they’re trying to …

This is exactly it. In most countries having children is cheap, in the UK and much of Europe, there is financial support available. Enough to keep your children largely out of poverty, in education and maintain a basic lifestyle. In even poorer countries having children is likely a net financial gain, since they’ll probably end up working to support the household too once they’re old enough. What’s expensive is giving your children the sort of lifestyle we’ve now become accustomed to seeing chil…

Sure but you’ve got to remember that most men on this sub aren’t getting online dates very easily. For me, trying to find a woman on tinder I’m attracted to, who will match with me, and agree to a date is a bloody tall order. Happens like once a year. The point this person is making is that most men really struggle forming quick reciprocal connections with women they’re attracted to. Such as in clubs, bars or on dating apps. You see reports of this all the time on this sub. And if they want the …

The term “incel” was coined by a woman to describe herself in 1997. It was a completely harmless word with hardly any social implications until a bunch of creepy lonely men banded together on Reddit to propagate a bunch of misogyny. Them and the subsequent communities that followed tarnished the name for the foreseeable future with creepy weirdo. Then a bunch of rapists and murders who identified as incels tarnished it even further. There was never a group of female “incels” or “femcels” who did…

Yeah it’s a risk. But what do people expect? Getting married is a grown up thing to do, that you should think very seriously about why you want to do it. The whole concept of marriage is that it’s supposed to be a permanent “spiritual” agreement to join two people together as one in the eyes of the law and “god”. Depending on religious context. And in doing so you tie yourself legally, spiritually, and financially to someone else. Marriage today doesn’t carry the societal importance or permanenc…

I think it’s pretty obvious why people get upset. There’s nothing really wrong with having unrealistic standards, other than perhaps being naive. But if you’re an average man who’s struggling to find a relationship, and all he keeps hearing online is that women’s expectations are what he stuggles to or cant attain, then he’s obviously going to be sad about it. Where men actually go wrong, is that most people not just women have high standards on paper. But the reality is that people fall in love…

It’s not about blaming women. It’s just about recognising that boys are likely better off and less vulnerable when they have a father figure in their lives. People who say women can’t raise boys are missing the point. It’s just about boys (who will become men) having good role models who are men, which they’re less likely to have if they’re raised by women. Mother/father relationships break down for a variety of reasons. It’s not about blaming either side.

Not married but been in a happy relationship for 4 years. I’m 24, straight and began dating my girlfriend at college/university in the UK. I’m also a shortass (5’7) and don’t have an amazing job or anything. I think that a lot of people on this sub genuinely don’t spend much time outside and in social groups like sports teams, mixed office teams or in other social clubs. The only reason I’m spending time on this sub recently is because I’m on leave from work and haven’t got much going on. I play…

Because porn is in many ways, a pretty terrible and harmful industry [1] [2] [3]. Women typically watch less porn and most porn is male orientated. A vast quantity of men either currently watch porn or have watched a significant amount of porn in their lives. Especially younger men. By its nature it’s addictive for men. It makes sense that men are more defensive of an activity they partake in. Whereas women are less invested and more readily see porn for what it quite often is, something that’s …

Even though it might objectively be “not possible for everybody” I think it’s a really bad attitude to have. That some people should just be resigned to never feeling love or intimacy. I sympathise with those who lash out in frustration or vent things that might be unreasonable or not properly thought through. I genuinely believe that it’s possible for everyone to find a relationship, even if it’s highly unlikely. And I don’t think it’s really that helpful to tell people they’re just unlucky los…

You’re thinking way too deeply about the kneeling to propose gesture. For 99% of people in the 21st century this is just a gesture based on historical culture. A way of sincerely proposing the question “will you marry me”. You don’t even have to do it like that, it’s just a cultural norm. And even if it’s not in certain cases, if you’ve got to the point that you want to marry a person. Surely you know them well enough to ascertain whether you’re being “dominated” against your will. You should ha…

As u/Ok_Use7 said in their comment, if you navigate the world looking at everything like it’s a power imbalance and assessing implied “servitude”, you’ll live a miserable life. If you can’t make a first move without feeling humiliated or like a servant, what are you even doing? Life is full of tit for tats, gestures based on imbalanced traditions, and people of varying levels of “power”. Sometimes these things become disgustingly toxic, but a lot the time it doesn’t. And people can live out perf…

Hard disagree. Men don’t seek out paid sex because they don’t want the stigma, or they don’t want to feel lessened themselves for doing so. Average looking doesn’t mean anything, by definition, most men and women are average looking. It doesn’t follow that they’re cheap. If my girlfriend suddenly told me I had to pay for sex, I’d just flatly refuse, not because she’s somehow average looking.

There’s no such thing. There are stereotypical masculine traits and stereotypical feminine traits. All generalised and often with exceptions. There are people who are born with xy chromosomes who embody those typical masculine traits based on societies expectations and biological drives. You might hold a “real man” as someone who identifies as a man, has a number of masculine traits, but chooses to exercise them in a positive way that benefits his society, relationships, and has limited negative…

Women can and do. Apparently you do. Totally reasonable. But I don’t think sex is as transactional as you and people on this sub make it out to be. Many women don’t want sex to feel like a product or an offering. They feel it cheapens an act that to them is intimate, significant and important. Furthermore, many men will refuse to pay for sex because they themselves feel the intimacy is lessened by it. In which case as a woman (who might want intimate sex), you’re ruling out intimacy on the basis…
