That's my original point entirely. If, as an employer, I have this girl working for me, that means that she must meet this bottom line. My point is that output only qualifies you for the job, and should not factor into individual pay, as was the original topic. You can't expect every employee that works for you to all have the exact same output.

That's true, and the bottom line being raised is a reasonable point of business. Obviously you want to hire the best you can. All I'm saying is that if two employees both meet the bottom line standard then they are both entitled to the same base pay. Any discretions beyond that are up to the employer, and ideally should be based on the individual's effort and performance. I wouldn't say so. If you're being fair about it you have to base it off of effort over output. The way I see it output decides whether you can keep the job, you either meet the requirements or you go somewhere else. Beyond that the only thing that matters is effort. In your scenario, both workers are at maximum capacity. Both giving it 100 percent. Why should B make less money? You get paid a flat rate based on time rather than on the quality of duties performed in that time. You are either capable of performing the required duties or you are not. As I said before I am a very skinny guy, and I'm not very strong. I would equate my strength to that of an average woman. Is this really sexism? I mean biologically, men are naturally larger and stronger. There isn't anything we can do about that, socially. Its why we don't expect women to get jobs doing things like construction. There are exceptions of course, like me (being rail thin and just about strong enough to open a bottle of ketchup.) and athletic women, of course, but both of these are extreme cases. Its not something we can just ignore under the pretext of political correctness.
