People care when someone is spreading so far they are using an extra seat someone else needs. I even stated that you can spread as long as you don't end up in front of the other seat when someone needs it. It's not hard to do. Manspreading isn't an issue of legs not smushed together. But even if you're taking up half of another seat, no one else is gonna sit there so you're still taking up two seats when someone could be using the other.
