It's advice that comes from some level of expertise or experience and rarely fits into a single sentence without lots of caveats. Furthermore it seems that dating advice (for men) that might work falls into this uncomfortable area that people don't want to say out loud. Thinking about it some more: I don't know. I know that the oft-repeated one liners don't work (eg the ones in the OP). Some of the TRP stuff might work (to make the initial connection only), but it might also be that if you need …

You don't reconcile them. They're not real advice. When someone says one of those things what you should hear is "I have never had this problem so I have no idea." Or they did have this problem but it was so long ago that they forgot what it was like.

the frustration of one's romantic feelings going unfulfilled will likely interfere with their ability to enjoy/appreciate those benefits. Maybe if there had been no romantic interest then they wouldn't have interacted in the first place? The only thing that kept one side interested was the potential of a romantic partnership, but outside of that they don't have enough in common to keep the friendship mutually satisfying.

Why is it anybody's responsibility to defend the country? Yet men get conscripted anyway. Why is it anybody's responsibility to pay taxes for all these social services? Men seem to pay a larger share while receiving fewer benefits. None of these have to happen, but without them society will be radically different. Whether it's better or not is anybody's guess.

Some of the economic reasons have been replaced by the government. There are all these social benefits that were previously filled by family. Women seem to also benefit more from this social spending than men.

does it ever occur to them that they just maintain a few active social spheres and hobbies - each with a core group, and a bunch of ancillary friends that come and go - and eventually they'll meet a lot of people, socialize, banter and flirt, and test the waters, and eventually one day someone they're interested in will reciprocate, and the two of them can branch off, have a good long convo in a social setting, exchange contact info, keep up the conversation, and make plans of their own. "Spend …

Then maybe statistics should improve its methods instead of throwing their hands in the air. It is obvious to everyone that if 1000 women graduate from college, but only 100 men then this is not gender equal. If your statistics cannot indicate this then they are flawed statistics. If statistics in general cannot do this then we should throw it in the trash. So if you can tell me how to interpret a proportion of countries where the difference between women doing as good or better than men is and …

and how proportions work, a proportion is a number between 0<=p<=1. As such, if the proportion of countries where women are treated as well as men is as good if not better than men is greater than 1, there is no actual meaning to that in mathematical terms. Proportions work just fine mathematically above 1. 3/4 of a pizza and 5/4 of a pizza are both meaningful. If the issue is that you can't plot it as percentages then you can always just flip it around when they would exceed 100%: if more women…

We shouldn’t declare the sex recession over based on just a single year of data—especially a single year that relied on new survey methods—and a fairly small sub-sample of 229 respondents. From the article. The graph has a steep drop off. Mayhaps the new survey methods changed the results?

At almost 40 he has no interest in someone who is still figuring life and themselves out, someone who is not yet fully fleshed out and knows exactly who they are and who still might change a lot in the coming years. This only makes sense on paper. This is something people say that makes everyone else nod in agreement but doesn't hold up to scrutiny. someone who can't relate to work trouble If you've only ever done office work then can you relate to someone doing hard physical labor? That's easy to say when you won't be forced to fight in war and get more benefits from the government. There's a reason women value status and money in men. It would be fine if government didn't favor one gender over the other.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/25 01:52 PM

But he should still pay taxes that seems to benefit women more than men? There's no going-the-other-way in modern society when the government forces you to participate.

or am I really hornier than most? Yes you are. Sex drive itself and attraction are two different things. I'm horny, just not TO YOU. Perhaps this takes different forms in different people? My attraction range certainly widens if I'm horny.

You're describing the consequences of the "women are wonderful" effect. Men (and women) treat women better than men. They don't treat men worse on purpose, they just don't go out of their way to treat them well like they do with women. It's a subtle difference, but it still matters.

Men frequently settle. It's uncommon for a man to end up with a woman that meets all their standards. Many of the men who don't settle end up alone. Most men don't have that many options to be choosy.

People in different age categories often have nothing in common Nothing in common? Not a single thing at all? Do people outside of your age group live on another planet? Do they not go to the same gyms, do the same exercises, run on the same paths, use the same websites, listen to the same music, watch the same movies, drink the same coffee, hike on the same trails, drive the same cars?

I like super skinny guys who eat a ton and don't gain weight. Just a bit of muscle and bones. That in itself is hard to find in older guys. This isn't a thing. Metabolism doesn't slow down until people are in their 60s. Staying skinny while eating a lot is always a question of the amount of exercise they do.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/24 08:32 AM

Funny how the advice for men is that it's all about personality and all these other things, but when women talk about it it's categorically "I wouldn't date someone more than a few years older than me" without any nuance. I've met young and old people that I get along with. There was never anything about concrete age numbers that was the deciding factor.

/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/24 06:52 PM

If you are looking for a relationship it makes sense to hold off sex this is true for men and women actually. Why? What do you gain by not having sex with someone that you're attracted to? Not having sex with him sends the signal that you aren't that interested. If another girl came along and had sex with him immediately then you would lose any chance of a relationship with him because the other girl showed him appreciation first. To say that a woman is being manipulative because she didn’t wait…

And I'm not even mentioning what women have to suffer Like living longer, getting more government benefits, less likely to be a target of violence, easy dating, 4x fewer suicides etc. Truly terrible suffering. and there hasn't been a draft for ages. Tell that to the Ukrainian guys dying in a ditch while Ukrainian women are partying in western Europe.

Women aren't forced at gunpoint into conscription or war and having one child isn't enough. The replacement rate is 2.1 per woman.

If I could choose to be a man or a woman I would pick woman 9 times out of 10. we live in a man's world I disagree. Society seems to bend over backwards to accommodate women. Every male space and hobby gets turned into being inclusive meanwhile more women's exclusive spaces are created. Women live longer, get a larger share of benefits while paying less into the system. Women have better opportunities to earn money when you're not doing that well. Less likely to be a victim of violence too. Then…

Up till the 80s women couldn’t hold a bank account in their name most places They started being able to in the 60s and in 1974 the Equal Credit Opportunity Act made it national law. On another note 61% of adults had a bank account in 2015 globally.

I don't see men protecting and serving more than women though. Conscription? The draft? Selective service? Miliary service? The police? Firefighters? Men pay the majority of taxes while receiving the minority of government services. then I'm going to say "women sacrifice their bodies to have children" so don't bother But they aren't. Every western country is below replacement rate in fertility.

are men's issues just doomed to never get attention? Yes. Humans appear to be inherently biased in favor of women. As long as there's a large group of humans the welfare of women will be placed above men's. It doesn't always manifest itself in a good way for women, but I do believe that this bias exists. can we even do anything to push back against society's apathy? Your answers in this thread completely contradict that. You genuinely believe that men should be responsible for any offspring by consenting to sex, but women should not. You're holding a (sexist) double standard. The double standard makes any arguments with you moot because you're starting from different assumptions.

It might kick in a bit later for some people or not at all. I don’t think in 2 year as I get ready to leave for college I would loose my value. Your values should arise from what you want and do, not from what you decide beforehand. If you do feel that kind of a pull then don't try to rigidly follow values you've set yourself.

You control working out which has a lot to do with how attractive you are to women You can't control your height or the shape of your jaw. The jawline is one of the most important factors of attractiveness in men. Losing weight can help, but there's only so much it can do if the bone structure isn't there. You can't control your dick size either.

Oh, I do meet people that I have some interests in common with, but it's only some overlaps. your ego inflates you above other people Perhaps that's true, but this doesn't seem relevant. When these “ rich tall men” are taken they are taken. They don’t have 4 wives. This would be the case if marriage was for life. Divorce means that a man could have 4 wives. She was up against countries with male leadership in globally patriarchal society. How does that change anything? We're talking about her starting the war. We can though if we look at the general behaviour of women and to our genetic ancestors (Like chimps vs bonobos). Chimps and bonobos are not our genetic ancestors. They are our genetic cousins or siblings. They are much more similar to each other than us though. I will grant you that bonobos are less violent than chimpanzees, but bonobos are …

That's such a convenient excuse. The queen is the authoritarian leader of the most powerful force in the kingdom. She wasn't a victim. It was her choice to fight. I'm not trying to say that women are exceptionally warmongering. We don't have enough data for that, but we can see that women aren't so different from men when it comes to conflict and competition.

You're completely dismissive of their issues, yet you expect understanding and compassion for yours. To many men the issues you listed don't seem like a big deal. Some men even find it desirable to be on the receiving end of catcalls. The negative attention men get belittles and threatens them. It's more likely to transform into physical violence too.
