I appreciate that he cites a legitimate source and breaks down what he's saying, but this ultimately boils down to "be yourself". Still valuable to be aware of I suppose, especially if you have a tendency to be a people pleaser.

Holy christ, I had no idea something so simple could have such huge repercussions.

Hahaha, similar idea very different medication. Our brain's are incredibly powerful, it's a shame we can't just will our brains to release the particular neurotransmitter we want to feel or even willing induce a hallucinogenic experience (though I don't think our brains could actually produce hallucinogen inducing chemicals). I've never done shrooms, but from what I hear it sounds like it can have a big impact on one's perspective, and I mean that is a positive way.

Medications do work, they're just not the instantaneous success people expect them to be. In the case of anti-depressants they help give you a moderate sense of well-being (SSRI - leading to serotonin build up). That isn't suppose to be the end step, it's merely a stepping stool to help you get over the actual distressing issue. In cases of legitimate clinical depression people are often so emotionally distressed they won't do things. Things that intrinsically make people happy or improve their …

That's essentially the basis of cognitive-behavioral therapy and it's an incredibly practical and simple approach to improving oneself mentally. That is to say, it provides a reasonable and effective format for improving oneself I don't mean to say it will necessarily be easy. You essentially are analyzing your thoughts because your thoughts become your actions and your actions lead to certain results which lead to further thoughts that influence further actions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co…

8 months seems pretty lenient considering what the repercussions would have been if the officer were found guilty. Does the fact that she was potentially going to accuse him of rape get factored in at all? His life could have been pretty extensively ruined, but because the blackmailing didn't work out she only has to pay for that?

It's not that I'm looking for an excuse, I go out all the time with friends and have been actively hanging out with women I'm interested in. It's more that my social skills are lacking as a result of not having been engaged in as many social situations due to being introverted. It's a matter of practice but it's just exhausting and discouraging seeing how easily extroverts flow in conversation. Not to mention when competing for women extroverts have tended to win out (from what I've seen) as the…

Yeah, I believe the practice thing is probably the most important, but it has just been difficult to get practice in when socializing is something I'm interested in doing on a less than regular basis.

Enjoying being the center of attention is a core difference between the two. Introverts aren't necessarily shy but prefer meaningful micro interactions, whereas extroverts enjoy larger scale social exchanges. I tend to think of it as an introvert is constantly burning an "x resource" and the more people or the more overwhelming the environment the more rapidly the resource is exhausted. Extroverts by definition, are people who derive energy from interaction with others, which is why it's introve…

Being the center of attention in large groups of people is pretty close to the epitome of extroversion, but at the same time introversion and extroversion is a spectrum so I don't doubt your self-evaluation. Still I'd say you're probably more extroverted than you realize. I don't use it as an excuse to avoid social situations in fact at times I can be quite lively and into group conversations, but this burns my social resource quickly and an hour or two later I'm more just observing the conversa…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
