It sounds like you've mistaken being an arrogant/insecure poser for being beta. Accept that so you can learn from it, don't just get offended by it. I found it interesting that one was a bartender. I'd expect that higher value to be attributed to that fact. As a prominent focal point, she would receive extra attention, therefore perceiving her value to be higher. I don't think it would transfer in any significant way outside the bar though.
