Ya, that's my mistake, sorry. I'm not American and I think I mixed him up with another guy.

Not the same, but not nearly as bad. And what criticism he received would be mostly as a result of him being a politician. But it's nice to see you acknowledge these are two different situations.

1.a This didn't happen in France. 1.b I'm skeptical that this is in any way common any more. 2.My mistake, I'm not American, but the fact that he is a politician still means people hold him to higher standards, it's just the nature of the game. 3.In the second instance, points 1 and 2 still stand. As I said before, the scandal wasn't as much about nude photos leaking as it was the circumstances surrounding the release. If we put weiner in the exact same situation as what happened to these girls,…

Context is everything, and like it or not the context is very different in these two cases. Let's look at the specific reasons he was shamed. He was sending the nude pictures to other women while he was married. He is a Republican running on a socially conservative platform making his actions incredibly hypocritical. He leaked his own nudes by accidentally tweeting them. The simple fact that he took nudes were not the center of the controversy, it was all of the circumstances around why the pict…

Surely someone who viciously attacks the head of an unconscious body is worse than the thug who attacks the upright conscious 'body'. They are both bad, but I personally think, and the majority including the courts would agree, a person who knocks two people unconscious without provocation, is a greater danger to society. Of course they both deserve to see the inside of a jail cell and hopefully they both receive a healthy jail sentence. But you have a REAL tough time arguing anything about the …

Physically attacking someone is much more serious than threatening someone. The man who did the attacking is responsible for his own actions and he is the one who initiated the attack on both men and rendered them both unconscious. The women's several kicks to the head may or may not have done additional damage, but we don't know since there is not enough information. Point is, the women certainly holds a lot of responsibility here, but in terms of the seriousness of the crimes, this man committ…

Ya, I have to say it looks like OP is trying to be misleading with this. The only one who didn't get bail was the instigator and main aggressor in the incident. I don't think sexism is playing any role here.

Well perhaps your experience isnt indicative of the majority of women. Ive seen relationships wherr the guy was a dick and vice versa, none of them ever work out for either person. But there are plenty of successful relationships out there where the two people treat each other with respect and share the balance of power.

Thats your problem, you have this idea that all women are the same and they all treat men like shit. Most women dont treat men like this and those who do are just as bad as red pillers.

Well I can say it's never happened to me when I've been with my wife, only when she is alone. And like I said, this isn't something that women usually open up about because it's an embarrassing and degrading experience. The only woman who's ever talked to me about it is my wife. She also tells me that all of her friends have similar experiences.

Do you think that might have something to do with the fact that you are with them? Most guys aren't going to catcall a girl if she is with other people, especially guys. I didn't think it happened much either, but my wife now tells me about it and she gets cat called fairly regularly and she never dresses in what you might call a provocative manner. These aren't guys approaching for an innocent conversation, these are guys who get off from intimidating women and getting a rise out of them. She a…

A very small minority of women blog about not being able to find men. It's hardly representative of the overall population. Just like a small minority of young males complain on reddit about always getting friend zoned. And on dating sites, it's older people in general who use them. Obviously younger women have an easier time finding dates, but that doesn't mean that most successful women aren't in relationships. Also, just because someone is dating online, it doesn't mean they have trouble gett…

I'm not telling you what you're attracted to, I'm telling you why. And do you have any stats to back up what your saying about "successful women", or is this just based on what you see in movies?

There is no other reason that you would be unattracted to a women solely because she is successful. You even try and stereotype all successful women as old unattractive bitches to try to rationalize it to yourself. You probably fear rejection and have a poor self image and are afraid that no attractive woman would ever want you, so you make up this stereotype that you think applies to all of them to rationalize rejecting them before they reject you. For the record, I married a psychologist and s…

So are you too stupid to see that the world isn't completely black and white, or does the reality of the world just scare you too much to acknowledge it? One thing I can tell for sure is that you've never spent much time around women who are successful. Not too surprising really.

We tried to do similar things before, back when the Europeans settled Africa and the Americas and tried to kill the native culture and turn the "savages" into "civilized" people. It's generally seen as a shameful part of our history. It's not our place to walk into another culture and dictate which of their traditions are appropriate and which are not (within reason anyway). You may see acts of body modification as barbaric and outdated, but to these people, it's a way of life, and it's entirely…

Video games present health risks. Kids have seizures, can get addicted, can develope joint injuries. Since video games are unnecessary and pose health risks, then shouldn't we ban them for minors?

There are risks in doing anything, but we let parents make the decisions as to how much risk they want to take with their child (to a certain extent). Circumcision is a very routine and low risk procedure, so I don't see risk as being a very big factor here.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/14 01:45 AM

Well that has a very adverse effect on half the population. Circumcision doesn't really come with any adverse effects. This is how I look at it. Look at some African and south American tribes, for example, that practice body modification for cultural or religious reasons. Many of these begin with young children, but nobody is out there putting a stop to it because we feel it's wrong to intervene and tell these people that they need to stop their long held traditions. I think it's equally wrong t…

I see what you mean, but I think the fact that it's important to people as a long time cultural or religious tradition is enough reason to allow it.

That is certainly true. I guess I can fault you for using that to your advantage.

I have no problem with it, I think it should be up to the parents. Generally I think people make too big a deal out of it, I don't see it as being some kind of horrendous procedure that some people make it out to be. It's a minor procedure resulting in a small alteration and there doesn't seem to be any definitive research to suggest it effects pleasure. So if it's not detrimental and is a minor alteration I don't see much reason to ban it.

I had the same experience when I was in engineering school. All the girls I worked with really pulled their weight and wouldn't mind taking leadership roles. I really don't buy the argument that girls just try to use men all the time as that has definitely not been my experience in life.

For the same reason that a 3-year old's doodle isn't as highly regarded as Van Gogh's painting. This isn't a very satisfactory answer. If I understand this correctly, you're saying that because it takes less skill for a girl to pick up a guy, that she should not do it? Can you expand on this, because it doesn't seem like good reasoning to me. If life circumstances make it so that I can accomplish something easier than other people, why should I not take advantage of that opportunity? I came from…

Fair enough. Maybe this is only a subset of the users, but it seems as though some condemn women who have many partners while promoting that men sleep with many women. Maybe this isn't the norm though. Would you then consider many (most?) TRPers to be sluts then?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/14 07:18 PM

So is it accurate to say that you prefer to date people with a low partner count, but you don't find anything unethical, immoral, etc. With a woman who chooses to have many partners?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/14 05:47 PM
2

That analogy really doesn't make any sense because encouraging guys to sleep with women and discouraging them from getting a sex change are two unrelated topics. I'm not saying that a partners promiscuity shouldn't be an issue for you. I'm just questioning why you care so much, as if it's the single most important aspect of judging a partner. And I'm also questioning why you think it's wrong for a woman to be promiscuous but it's ok, and even encouraged for a man to act that way.

For me, I won't say that their "number" means nothing. But there are a lot more things that have more weight. Generally, if I like a girl and we have good chemistry, it doesn't matter what her number is. So it's far from a make or break for me.

Of course your average girl will have a much easier time getting laid than your average guy, I won't argue with you there. What I don't understand is why that makes any difference. Speaking generally, most people enjoy sex. Is it fair to expect people to hold back on sex just because it's easier for them to get it than it is for you? I don't think we should fault people for taking advantage of a positive situation they find themselves in, and I don't think it speaks negatively about their charac…

Well let's not beat around the bush here. You posted this to make a point; that it's stupid to say you can't ever consider sexual history when choosing a partner. I don't think anything should be off limits when you judge a potential partner, it's all personal preference. But when you guys talk about this subject, it goes beyond you just preferring not to be with a girl who's had a lot of partners. You guys act, or at least this is how most people interpret it, that you are disgusted and offende…

In general I don't think there is an issue with having different criteria depending on what kind of relationship you are looking for. I think TRP gets into trouble for two reasons. The first is focussing too heavily on a womans "number". Not to say it shouldn't matter, but everything should be taken into context and there are a whole lot of other attributes that should matter more. You guys focus on it to the point where it becomes slut shaming and you look like old timey sexist assholes to ever…

To me, TRPers seems like the male equivalent of radfems. Lot's of stereotyping, sexism, extreme views, etc. Radfems are too progressive and TRPers are too regressive.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/14 02:15 AM

Context is everything. I don't think it's so much that sexual history should never be a factor when judging a potential partner, it's more of how you judge it and weigh it against other factors. It seems like TRP makes WAY to big of a deal out of sexual history when there are (IMO) other way more important factors to judge by.

I have no doubt the RP tactics work on some women, but I'm quite sure that it does not work on the majority. I have had much success in the past going against pretty much all of TRP rules. The reason is that all women are different (surprise, surprise). Yes, there are plenty of girls out there who will actually go after the quiet, socially awkward guy. This is of course anecdotal, but then TRP is pretty much based on anecdotal accounts as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/14 01:58 AM

It seems like you guys really generalize on this point. Yes, there are definitely girls out there who go for genuine douche bags over "nice guys", but I believe this is only a small subset. From what I've gathered by reading some TRP stuff, you guys seem to have a very narrow minded view of how women act. It seems as though you take all of the negative female stereotypes and apply them as fact to all women. This is purely anecdotal, but you would probably consider me a "nice guy", I'm pretty qui…

There isn't really a difference between a marriage and a relationship. Marriage is just a symbolic and traditional step some people choose to take to show commitment. What a woman brings to a marriage is the same thing she brings to a long term relationship, which is the same thing a man brings to a long term relationship; companionship, love, happiness. I'm not really sure if you want to be convinced that you should get into a LTR or just specifically marriage. I'm not a female and I'm not marr…

Wow, I guess this is what happens when someone learns everything they know about women from trp. Protip: trp is full of shit. Despite what they tell you, all women are not the same. I guarantee you that there are plenty of women who have similar ideals. Spend more time getting to know women and less time reading about them on trp and I guarantee you, you will find someone.

Well being acquitted doesn't mean you are innocent, it just means there wasn't enough evidence to find you guilty.
