I'm responding to a view I've seen everywhere. If you agree with me no need for you to listen. Also, is it no longer a discussion if points are made emphatically? If not, throw rhetoric out the window, you've found a sub of pure logicians... (haha okay you can hardly call my writing 'rhetoric' but you must see my point)

Well, you have your mind made up. Life's too short. I'm going to continue advising people to think about how they express themselves to strangers in the hope of making people a bit nicer to each other.

Yes you're right of course, that perception of rape maybe isn't helpful. But sexual assault is much more common, on the streets and in night clubs and everywhere else. It happens to friends of mine every few months. You're also undoubtedly right about the violent crimes. But that doesn't make this any less what I was saying it is. Your implication, perhaps unintentional, was that 'because crimes happen mostly to men, threatening behaviour towards women is okay'...

Jesus guys, listen. Yes, some 40% of this is maybe meant to make her feel good about herself. But most of it is obviously not - it's peacocking at best, threatening at worst. This is the real world. People get raped. All the time. They get sexually assaulted even more often. And that makes people quite rightly nervous.
