What was dating like after being divorced?Im 40 with 2 kids, Im in good shape. I havent had any luck on the apps. I dont feel anything and the swiping isnt good for my soul. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/07/26 03:36 AM
It's very lonely being a single guyFor me it's a grind but I dont very often get a night off from the kids . Dating isnt my thing. Ive made some male friends and go to the gym but most of the time I miss adult conversation and sex. It sucks. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/26 10:24 AM
To everyone going through it right now, there IS light at the end of the tunnel. I promiseIm in my third year now, I hope there's light for me but at the moment it still feels like Im in the hole. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/06/26 08:37 AM
Always the sameI'm in a similar situation, I think online dating is a waste of time for me but I imagine works well if you are good looking or outgoing and comfortable with the self marketing aspects/strategy that needs to go with it. I think some of us just won't shine or stand out here. As a single dad with very little time I wouldn't waste my energy there, I'd spend it joining a club for an interest I liked that also had women in it. That said I don't even have the time or energy for that myself so I will h… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/05/26 07:06 AM
5 years post-divorce and I still feel psychologically trapped/stuck.I think you just get better at carrying the weight. Im over 2 years seperated. I work out, I have new hobbies, I have new friends, I read occasionally. I miss my old life and feel bad for my kids. Honestly it still feels like a nightmare which I wake up to every day. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/05/26 03:57 PM
There is hope guysIts been two years for me, I dont see my life turning around yet but let's see in five years. I think work and not a little luck is needed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/05/26 06:41 AM
Do you need to hear this?Im two years in. Glad it got better for you. Ive done the same things which has helped but life has not opened up for me yet. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/04/26 04:31 PM
How to you get over her?I haven't its been two years. The gym helped make day to day easier but I wouldn't say that I have moved on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/04/26 04:22 PM
Does this happen to anyone else?Similar situation, I have become a bit of an asshole as I dont care about observing niceties or being friendly coparents with my ex and her Ap come partner. It also doesn't bother me that they probably consider me an asshole to deal with because that is fair in my mind. That said I wouldnt engage in personal attacks. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/04/26 12:00 PM
Was the divorce your fault?I made mistakes as did she but she lied and cheated for over a year. I take ownership of my side for the relationship being in jeopardy but she nuked it in the end. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/04/26 08:11 AM
Broken heart needs reassuranceI feel you should go to therapy if you can afford it, I've lived with these thoughts for more than 2 years and I'm not a happy person anymore. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/26 08:25 AM
Today I RealisedI have felt these feelings too, what heled me was finding a way to accept that sex was part of my past and try to focus on leaving that and the possibility of a future relationship behind. I try to put those thoughts in a box in my mind and deal with what I can be positive about. Won't lie though it was painful for a long time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/03/26 11:00 AM
Emotional AttachmentsI think the pain doesn't really go away but you get accustomed to it, I still dream about what could have been and the times I had that were good and I also have nightmares about the cheating and lying with her AP. I feel sorry for my kids and myself some nights even though I know its not helpful. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/26 10:37 AM
Anyone else just feel exhausted…Im two years in, but im not so much exhausted day to day but rather depressed. Exercise has helped with keeping the energy needed for doing it all solo, found some new guy friends for support, new hobbies etc but hasn't done anything for my confidence or hope for the future. They say its a season but doesn't feel that way at least to me. Hope it does get better for you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/26 10:24 AM
How do I start to see women again?I see woman I like but I dont have the confidence or energy to put myself out there. I hope with time that may change but seems unlikely. Im quite a bit older now and feel less resilient than I was. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/03/26 08:25 AM
My STBXW lied (again)My ex lies all the time about this stuff and everything. Eventually even my son now calls her a liar frequently and I dont feel its right to correct him or gently shut it down anymore. Eventually it will feel good they dont show up as its one less unpredictable dynamic you have to deal with. You expect them to not follow through and act accordingly. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/02/26 02:45 AM
How do you manage life with 3 kids after divorce?I only have two but I did most of the work with my first anyway who is ND. I get about 70% and she does 30. Its hard yeah I see my career trajectory kinda drifting away as I have to put my kids first but still worth the sacrifice. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/02/26 10:01 AM
Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Agree or disagree?Disagree, being betrayed and having to coparent with that person is a life sentence. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/02/26 09:52 AM
Anyone out there find happiness, success, love, etc. after divorce? Two years seperated (minimum here before divorce) I haven't found happiness but im not as depressed as at the beginning if you can call that a win. No success or love that part of me died I think. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/02/26 09:44 AM
Is your self worth in the toilet? Its been two years for me. Im happier in sone ways but have no confidence with the opposite sex. Working out, new hobbies, self help. I've kinda had to accept that part of my life is over but its still depressing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/01/26 10:04 AM
Feeling so lonely it and depression hits meI don't get how you guys have the confidence to start dating, 2 years out and basically I still feel.crushed.l by the cheating and discard. She was my first everything and even though Im fitter now inside im still the same anxious person perhaps even more so than pre marriage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/10/25 10:29 AM
Anniversary is todayThis is kinda how I feel, didn't sign on to parent alone and never contemplated it. Now I have to work out how to be a good sole parent with the possibility of doing it on my own forever. Being a good dad is great but you miss having another adult or partner to talk to and lean on - now its all on you. I still hate my cheating ex so keep communication minimal. Feels pretty unfair when they ambush you move on with someone else dishonestly while you are married and they don't have to parent alone … | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 11:22 PM
My Friend Said Something That Made Me Smile….I wish I could believe it. My life still feels pretty shit after 2 years. Sure I have freedom but it I feel like I fill it with mostly meaningless endeavors in the end as none of it felt as fuflling as when there was a family unit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/10/25 10:20 AM
My marriage ended in a fog of lies and confusionThis is why I stuck it out so long. She was and still is the only woman who ever showed any real interest in me- pathetic I know, but once kids come along I stuck it out hoping better days would be around the corner but it felt like as soon as we hit tough times and I couldn't meet her needs it was over. The future faking I find the worst, I didn't find out there was a label for this until after we were done, and it still continues... | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/10/25 06:14 AM
My marriage ended in a fog of lies and confusionMy wife lied constantly, I used to brush it off as a cultural thing. While I wasn't perfect this dishonesty ate away at our relationship. She cheated, stuck with the AP and still lies about to it this day. She doesn't owe me the truth now that we're separated (initiated by me) but I don't understand why she continues lying. Honestly, it still irritates me now, and I don't know when she is telling the truth and now assume she is lying most of the time. It sucks with shared custody because calling… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/10/25 05:58 AM
