Huh, relatable. Funny how that works I guess.

That seems pretty shitty. Can I ask for an example of what you mean by a forward approach? kinda curious.

I don't think that this holds much truth in the adult world, but maybe college. Most single adult men when surveyed say they like it when a woman approaches them. I've only ever seen women claim that approaching is masculine behavior.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 01:32 AM

Men who don't participate in the behavior have no influence over it.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 01:12 AM

Whenever you are an adult, it means you conduct yourself as an adult towards others regardless of their behavior towards you. If you can only be an adult when it's easy to be one, I have bad news.

I just don't see how anyone can make a difference as long as most women feel men need to initiate for them to feel attraction. If that bias doesn't get examined for what it absolutely is, it won't change. The men who don't engage in the dynamic have absolutely zero control over it.

Most women use selector dating strategies. Which is why people say that.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/26 01:05 AM

You can say "it's their problem" but then they turn into mega fascists and help elect a pdf president. You don't need to be perfect to be worthy of a relationship. I feel HORRIBLE for anyone in your life.

it's a selection bias issue if you can't find a singular man who isn't mentally ill. maybe, like many chronically single people, you're bad at dating?

most violence is man vs man. men are socialized to be aware of this and get punished if ppl don't think they can protect themselves
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/26 05:53 AM

That's honestly kind of sad. People are pretty cool whenever you take an interest in them and help them feel comfortable. It's a mutual respect sort of thing

We implicitly enforce it by constantly infantilizing women. and I include women in that we.

There really needs to be a better way to distinguish intersectional feminists from pop feminists. The former was almost entirely critical of twilight, while the latter would consider any criticism misogyny.

You say that like a kid being assaulted isn't a problem what the fuck
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 07:16 PM

The point is that people need help with specific behaviors to be more proactive, because "just be yourself" was leading these men to isolation. Outside of cringey tactics, the only solution would be for women to choose partners more proactively, but women either say they already do regardless of what data says, or claim that is impossible for women to be biologically attracted to men without traditional initiation or something.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 07:00 PM
1

Part of why the decent 25% red pill exists is because a lot of people in general benefit from specific instructions. Calling it a tactic frames it weirdly, but also appeals to the low-key autistic sorts who this appeals to.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 06:53 PM
1

I'm cool with approaching as a gendered topic, but I can only feel good about it cuz I shame both men and women about complaining when their passive strategies don't work. Maybe it's biological? I kinda doubt it, but either way, it's low agency behavior and cringey. I wouldn't even wanna befriend someone who feels good about being passive
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/26 06:48 PM

Is this a serious argument? "if men want equality why aren't they trying to figure out how to make artificial uteruses so that they can share the burden of child birth?" Just become a seahorse is a new one, I'll give you that lmfao
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/26 06:26 PM

Requiring a performance that shouldn't reasonably exist in a person's day to day life (ie I need to someone to make me feel a way before I could even fathom having a relationship with them) is what causes some women to fall in with these types of men consistently. Most men aren't interested in performing emotionally sensitive pick up artistry, it's dehumanizing on both ends even if you do have "good" intentions.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/26 06:23 PM

You're using the exception to frame the argument.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/26 01:58 PM
4

I think that pathologizing the behavior is probably smarter. Men who are passive don't deserve relationships, and women who are passive deserve to mostly get attention from men who play the numbers game. All is well.

No, I did add a disclaimer that your preferences would be shallow if the only thing you changed was something like a height or weight preference, and you said that wasn't the case. I think it's okay to have superficial preferences provided that you're honest about it and what it implies so that people can act accordingly.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/26 04:53 AM
1

I'll set aside the fact you tried to pivot into shaming me without even clarifying what your standards were. Just to be clear, then, you wouldn't describe having height / weight preferences as shallow in men/women? It's not that big of a deal to be shallow. I have shallow preferences. But I'm not low-key cowardly about admitting minor and ordinary flaws 🤣 Get a grip, read these comments to your therapist or husband lmfao
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/26 10:39 PM
1

Exclusionary preferences is when men and women project delusional projections as some sort of ego move. IE insisting on unrealistic beauty standards (be it endowment, height, youth, or race) on the population they actually live inside. And I don't know about solutions, but inside this interaction, based on what you're saying my ask as a person would be for you to label yourself as shallow. Assuming that your preferences were physical attributes, then I think it's important to recognize that you'…

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I think the problem i see sociologically is that preferences don't form in a vacuum. In the same way that men have preferences rooted in internalized misogyny and historic patriarchy, women do too. And so it creates a double bind, right? It's difficult for even a person like me, who is frankly less interested in dating, to raise concerns with the way preferences are framed. Projecting exclusionary preferences in dating which are counterintuitive to your stated…

Are you in support of the atomization of the genders?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/26 08:48 PM

Not really, millions of women engage in relationships with average men everyday. I would agree though, that surrounding yourself with toxic people is a bad dating strategy.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/26 07:28 PM
5

Some women are advocating for that* Many women are community oriented and proactively social without discriminating based on gender perceptions.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/26 06:50 PM
6

the average man doesn't have more institutional power to enact or affect any of those things. it's weird to spend this much time defending misandry. "yes the hatred of people based on immutable characteristics is bad" lol
/r/PurplePillDebate19/07/26 12:51 AM
1

That's fair, I should've said that passivity and/or a fantasized view of romance that prevent someone from fully engaging with options that do exist is the normalized stance for single women on average.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/26 06:26 PM
1

no, they're single because they haven't put themselves in situations to achieve romantic success. same as single men. stop pretending one gender has less agency than the other to look good. stop pretending one gender has less responsibility to society. pick mes and ideologues oh my

Okay, but when it's women saying it, it's just education and doesn't imply anything about them. very cool.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/26 12:42 PM
1

this is actually just a covertly narcissistic stance at scale. weaponizing victim stance is an obnoxious thing to deal with at THIS level of insistence,
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/26 12:40 PM
2

Your language does not amount to challenging violent behavior against women. men and women are not monoliths. when you reference statistics and use them to make bigoted statements that justify seeing a person as a member of some "bad" group, rather than as a person, it's just bigotry. misogyny being bad doesn't make you automatically correct.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 02:27 PM
2

Stats are fine and incredibly useful for institutional intervention on behalf of society. But saying that people's biases are justified and then referencing stats is a shitty thing to do. My feelings aren't hurt because none of this describes me. But you are acting like a sexist bigot. Same as when dudes do it. Gross.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 02:14 PM
0

you are absolutely referencing statistics as a reason why sweeping generalizations would be something other than bigotry. It's the exame same bullshit white people pulled with race.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 02:03 PM
2

Most men who are rejected do not stalk, harass, or kill people. huh?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 01:54 PM
1

we are talking about the sharing of information designed to destabilize the partner's sense of self-worth. in fact, I'm starting to think you're a narcissist too. because you literally cannot comprehend the fact that you are doing this
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 01:46 PM
1

You don't get to mention consent and erase context. And that statement still does nothing to address the question why you specifically struggle to recognize negative romantic behavior in women.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/07/26 04:50 AM
3

And also, if a man told his current partner how he used to always go down on his exes, but he doesn't do it anymore and he won't do it for her, that would also be obviously shitty behavior. You are using a gendered framework in a way that flattens individual out of existence in discourse. it is harmful and problematic.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:46 PM
3

Yes validating. Sexual validation inside of your committed relationship is normal. Receiving sexual pleasure is normally a part of being sexually validated.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:43 PM
3

Because misogyny and patriarchy are the reason that men and women are meant to have distinct roles in dating in the first place. shifting around the burden of who feels flattened by that isn't an acceptable endstate imo
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:41 PM
1

No, that's a false comparison, and projects bigoted underlying biases.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:33 PM
4

That would not explain why you would bring up your non-comparable sex life with past partners. You're being obtuse.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:30 PM
3

If you are bringing up the fact that you used to do these things that you know your partner finds validating, and how you don't want to do them for YOUR CURRENT PARTNER then you have a serious problem with adult agency and emotional responsibility. Obviously people should not want to date someone like that. It does not explain your reluctance to criticize the behavior that's actually being discussed. Whenever you double down, it does seem like an attempt to gaslight.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:29 PM
2

That does not explain your absolute reluctance to recognize the shitty behavior many women bring to the table. Functional men don't have this same problem with running defense for dysfunctional members of their own gender. It's bizarre.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 08:27 PM
2

That does not explain why the change is being weaponized, nor does it explain why you specifically are running defense for this type of behavior instead of simply saying that's generally a bad way to treat a partner. Because you can actually acknowledge that OP is being a lil sex pesty and the above at the same time.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 03:29 PM
2

Sure, internalized misogyny would be a subconscious belief that men are meant to have more individual agency than women in various ways.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 03:26 PM
1

Okay, but do you understand why it's frustrating to have every conversation reframed into > well what was your part in this? Multiple things can be true at once. Most people could use better relational skills, it's not a one gender thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 03:11 PM
2

That wouldn't explain why you specifically are spending time and effort normalizing antisocial behavior.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 01:42 PM
2

He's asking why women try to normalize this type of behavior based on gender. If a person was generous towards past partners, but acts with way less care towards current partners, while also making it known that this is the case, they're a bad partner. It's not that deep.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 01:41 PM
3

The OP said it was an ex lol
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 01:37 PM
1

It does, women have stronger in group biases by default, so they tend to actually support each other in the face of unfairness. Men don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 02:52 AM
7

Youre a person who has standards which the average woman is being encouraged not to meet. Wanting a partner who is proactively interested in you is not unreasonable. Many men simply find chasing degrading, and are extremely frustrated to discover that women mostly just want to be chased in a way that minimizes their own agency, but doesn't make them uncomfortable. The internalized misogyny is out of this world.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 02:49 AM
1

why is this user not banned?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/26 02:46 AM

Because men compete with each other and relying on someone else to overcome the unfairness is unrealistic.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/26 10:38 PM
1

You're skipping the point, that many men feel increasingly uncomfortable with traditional expectations of what they do with their body in the same way women often do, but in different areas of life. The pressure and framing as "bear minimum" are making people feel emotionally bad and exploited. talking past that is the problem. you are making people feel exploited when you avoid engaging with this. it's not so bad for a group of people who is willing to change what they expect from others, to ex…

Sounds like a self-defeating pov
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/26 03:25 PM
1

People don't get to decide what healthy standards look like in general. Personal preferences don't erode the aggregate measures of what stable connection tends to look like. That said, the complaint is usually about dishonesty about what the standards even are. It's not unreasonable to say that since most people's communication skills are not good, that most women's communication skills are not good. it's not that deep.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/26 03:24 PM
5

Okay, this is gonna sound crazy, but, people have different lives from you, and some of them are more negative in experience. Do you really think you're uniquely moral and better than the people who are frustrated with thr post pandemic social environment and saying it's too performative?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/26 03:22 PM
1

I appreciate this. I really, really wish people with this POV would be more legibly hostile towards the "girlies". like this is cool, but idk it's weird how quiet women are towards the homophobic / bigoted girlies.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/26 01:52 PM

That has nothing to do with the question you were just asked. It's not a question of gender, it's a question of indivual character. And yours is bad. All you do is project hatred and find additional excuses for your bigotry while towing the line to avoid getting banned.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/26 01:43 PM

No, there's no reason to bring gay men into that. You can say that many men don't put in enough effort without disparaging gay relationships, the fuck is wrong with you?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/26 01:41 PM

They gave you an example. Telling people to go be gay because you dislike their preferences as a heterosexual man is homophobic. Gay men are gay because they find men sexually attractive. You are homophobic because you not only attempt to leverage homosexuality to shame straight men, but you play dumb after the fact. These viewpoints are bigoted and are typically associated with high levels of personal narcissism. A real diet is normally the thing that helps people in your position, stop consumi…

That's not confidence, that's belligerence. Women who can't tell the difference are not desirable. One of my biggest frustrations is the fear to call people stupid in all walks of life. Are we surprised that stupid women want stupid men? The only surprising factor is how scared people are to recognize how dumb the median person is. This is dangerously close to "I'm a good person, so whenever I fantasize about someone it's not objectifying them, duh" tier logic.

Okay, but consent doesn't change what objectification is.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/26 07:14 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/26 07:13 PM

from a male pov, it's harder to identify who is interested in receiving this type of interest from you and who does not. on an individual level, it's a skill issue, men who complain Abt it need more emotional intelligence. overcorrecting in either direction (always flirt vs never flirt) is annoying. but also, if a woman isn't actually capable of pulling the type of emotionally intelligent man who can navigate ambiguity, she may want to consider whether she is actually as relationally intelligent…

I go back and forth on this. The manosphere self-cannibalizes more than any other space I know of. Even leftists, and I would've said that's impossible. But being a star in the manosphere has a very short lifespan compared to most spaces.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/26 04:06 PM

That makes a lot of sense. It's still bad discourse, though. "This seems true as a generalization" into "Well I'm not personally like that, so you're wrong," Is just gonna create a different type of circle jerk. It's not really discourse at all. If someone wants to explain WHY they are an exception, and what motivates them to not be a part of the trend, that would be different. But I don't think it's fair to frame a snarky "nuh uh, skill issue" as legitimate debate/discourse.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/26 04:01 PM

I think a lot of people who insist on alternative dating for everyone are all coded similarly. Manosphere, sex work positive feminism, and polyamory content spheres are probably the most prevalent. I don't think males empowerment, sex worker liberation, or ethical non-monogamy are bad things, but the way many content creators push it as "This is how all of us are supposed to be, look what THEY took from you, look how much they hate you" is problematic, and none of the communities are particularl…

Why do you only mention manosphere content as a toxic grift? People are not prepared for decent people to take a hard look at ALL the weirdos who are piping gross propaganda to children. /r/PurplePillDebate30/04/26 02:51 PM

You do realize that a debate involves acknowledging what the other person is saying, and involves at least a high school reading level? You really do think reddit is real life, based on these reddit ass comebacks. 😭 "Ummmmmmm that's technically a post not a message." female redditors oh gosh
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/26 01:40 AM

That's fine, but I don't think that deliberately misunderstanding generalizations accomplishes that. It just seems pedantic, and confuses the topic at hand.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/26 12:24 AM

I think you may be confused: this was in direct response to your post reply to me in which you said I should tell that to the men of this subreddit. Do you often have a hard time identifying with criticisms that are pointed at you specifically? You seem like a mean person who is constantly looking to score points against whoever you are talking to.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/26 12:22 AM

I think it's fair to say that your situation is an outlier, and generalizations aren't meant to address outliers. I don't do traditional relationships personally, but I think it would be unfair of me to ask the absolute majority of people who do to switch language norms to center me.
