All the women of color I know are desperate for white men and have said demeaning things about men of their own race. Most of them are dating white men, unsurprisingly. It just makes me feel uncomfortable knowing any woman of color I date is only with me because hse couldn't get the coveted white guy and is settling for me.

But if I moved to India and had a kid that was a visible ethnic minority If you are a white person then you will most likely be treated BETTER than the native population in India. Your half white child would absolutely get better treatment simply because whiteness is desired in those parts of the world.

Your girlfriend should also be shutting these kinds of comments down My issue is how prevalent that sentiment was. Is my girlfriend supposed to go around shutting down every single comment? Is she supposed to lecture all her family and friends? It wasn't just one or two bad apples, but a shared sentiment where her 'community' of white people felt confused why she was dating a brown guy. That sentiment isn't going to disappear overnight even if she tells them off.

With respect, it isn't the same if it was the other away around. I appreciate white men do face their own struggles when dating non-white women, but there is far more animosity towards non-white men dating white women than white men dating non-white women.
