It's the first I've heard of this, so I looked the story up. The saddest part is that I can't even pretend that I'm surprised.

"911, what's your emergency?" "An innocent male child is playing, happy and content. Please send the police to correct this."

I'm curious to read some of the responses to this, if there are any. How do I get to it without wading through 25,000+ comments?

Reminds me of Mom. Her first impulse is to ask for help on stuff without at least attempting to figure it out on her own first. Granted, I can see her not wanting to screw up her car or electrical work, but there're plenty of Youtube videos on unclogging toilets or bicycle maintenance to learn from.

Whether she's getting free room and board from a man or from the state, either way she's fulfilling pretty much all her potential.

Considering how overused the word "deserve" is, it's funny how little the concept is understood.

So maybe a stupid question, and maybe irrelevant to the subject, but why was the "a" in "male" and "female" blacked out?

His "rock" is just going to drag him to rock bottom unless he lets go of it. How many red flags do men need to see what should be obvious?

Sorry, can someone explain step-sister's line of reasoning to me? "I'm afraid folks'll hear about me having sex with my boyfriend, so I'll accuse my step-brother of molestation." I guess I'm not seeing how the lie she told covers up her sex life.

That's weird. Is she assuming that when the author writes about a single female character, he thinks that it applies to ALL females?

I've come to hate that subreddit. Maybe twice I've read a good entry, but everything else is either unsubtle humblebragging or or so obviously an asshole story that I don't understand what they get out of posting it.

"Tell", or "Ask"? Either way, she disservices herself by making herself dependent on others for so simple a task, and she disservices you and your dad by making you her providers for so simple a task. Has she outgrown that behavior?

Related tangentially: Some years ago at a Christmas celebration with extended family, there were a handful of toddlers who did that odd, semi-unpredictable thing where they all start crying and wailing at once. Went on for bout ten minutes, so I went outside. My cousin's son of about ten years old, and elder brother to one of the criers, was already out there taking refuge. He said to me "You're so lucky you don't have kids." Since he was showing such premature wisdom, I decided to reward him …

My favorite part is that they're serious. They think they're aware, informed and savvy political operators out to change the world's wrongs. They're only half a step removed from the newborn wing of the maternity ward when all the infants start crying at once.

Agreed. The reactions seem really understated. The husband acts somewhat believably, because he "suspected", but either the wife and plumber are bad actors, or they legit do not care that much at getting caught. I'd give it 50/50.

Why do others even care? I never got that. I've no intention of dating again, and for most women, it doesn't affect them in anyway. And the few who would want to date me, there're billions of alternatives out there. As for therapists, I think most mean well, but ALWAYS take their services with a cup of salt. No one knows you better than YOU.

I'm piggybacking on this post: Maybe someone here knows what movie/show contains this scene. Guy and girl are in a diner on a first date, maybe blind date. Guy says something about himself, like people do when they're getting to know each other. Girl gets an attitude and says something like "If that's suppose to impress me, you need to try a lot harder!" Guy then demolishes her and compares her to a waitress in the restaurant that's struggling though a shitty life and essentially says the waitre…

"...don't have a savings to fall back on because no one saw this coming." Aren't savings MEANT for the things you don't see coming? Isn't that WHY people save? "...SW goddesses...making men feel like they're transcending their bodies..." Way too melodramatic and pseudo-deep. Let's not repaint your job as a noble enterprise.

Funny how they think appealing to masculine virtues like strength will work to manipulate men, when it's not even relevant. This isn't a matter of strength, it's a matter of depreciating value. Would a car salesman try to sell a clunker by suggesting run-down lemons with 200k miles are only for strong, real men?

A self-important chick who wants a man to grovel, she wants to turn her life into a lazy Austen novel. She thinks that she's Elizabeth, with Darcy on the way -- But doesn't know the vapid hoe's chance now slips away. Demand too much, but offer naught, just nag and shriek and fuss, Her most abhorrent dream comes true: "Now Darcy's one of us!"

When the feelings bubble up, just remember that they'll pass in time. Simply remembering that feelings are temporary will actually help speed the process along.

MGTOW is a big part of three lessons I've learned in the last ten years (which to my shame I should've learned a long time ago) I don't have to please everyone. I am the cause of my own validation. Thinking for myself. I can hear advice and points of view from everyone, but it's my right and responsibility to come to my own conclusions. "Authority" and "expertise" don't make mortals into gods. Simple living makes life not only easier, but it makes acting with virtue easier. Though I'm not a true…

Someone smarter than me please explain something: If I'm talking TO someone, I'll refer to them as "you", yes? If I'm talking ABOUT them, that's third person, so they're likely NOT GOING TO BE THERE TO HEAR IT. Why is this an issue?
/r/MGTOW10/03/20 12:06 AM

The funniest one is the third one down: Money/things v. people/quality of life. How do women define quality of life EXCEPT through terms of money and things?

I did their ads in the Ponca City News about 6 months ago for their grand opening. Daxton and Scott are both great, down to earth guys, (and they do great straight razor shaves) and it sucks they can't operate for even a year before someone whines about them.

"deserve". I don't think I ever did anything so terrible I deserve a punishment like this article suggests.
/r/MGTOW14/02/20 01:10 PM

It's something easy to learn that looks complicated, so as to give the illusion of expertise and competence, but so subjective and wishy-washy that they can stretch it just enough that even when challenged they can still be "right".

A little off topic, but every time these award shows come up, the word "snubbed" gets thrown about. A lot. Are they using it wrong, or am I misunderstanding it? I thought a snub was an intentional insult, but I don't see how lack of nomination is an insult. It's just the nature of awards that some things are judged better than others. Or am I giving the whole thing more thought than it deserves?

I was surprised actually. I drove from Ponca City, OK (typical Great Plains flatlands) to Independence last July. Beautiful green hills, almost looked like Scotland. So much more to Kansas than corn and wheat and sunflowers.

Society's "advice" should always be taken with a huge chunk of salt. Too many people use society as an authority to lean on without acknowledging how fickle, nebulous and unreliable it is.

I just mean that psychology is a field that lends itself pretty readily to what you described. I've heard numerous psych majors, particularly women, lecture and "diagnose" their friends, family and uni mates after a semester or two of introductory courses.
