7	“Happy Marriage” The only people I know who are happily married drink alcohol every night. They avoid any type of meaningful conversations and just want to escape. Am I just around the wrong people or is this the only way to sustain a long term relationship? My wife and I have been married since 1995. 3 kids since then, youngest is now 18 and out of the house leaving just the two of us at home now. We occasionally socially drink but it is way more the exception than the rule. We talk and have good discussions often. Personally I think one of the keys to our marriage having been so good for so long is we both understand and feed the core needs of the other in the reality that is vs the reality some wish existed. 4	Miserable at 22. Plenty of good advice here as I see it but wanted to add one thing. Yes you started young and “missed out” on some of your “free” younger years, but If you turn your marriage around the plus side is you’ll be in your early 40’s with adult children and I think most men who take the lead in their lives will tell you your 40’s can be some of the best years of their lives.
