It started out as a largely online community whose members reinforced their own biases. It’s not surprising marketers saw money to be made off the back of a pickup-adjacent community and started selling to them. I don’t think it’s a complete grift in the way the business ‘gurus’ you mentioned are in that there is a highly organic membership which created the sub in the first place.

This is not purplepilldebate. Why not post this there? Debating hypergamy is not what this sub is for.

‘The Red Pill’ is a cult-like sub on this site that mixes tired pick up advice, pseudoscience and misogyny with a peppering of self-help cliches to spread an approach to relationships that’s based on unhinged theories of domination. This sub is for people who consumed the content and are now leaving it behind.

Used archive.fo but could only get parts 4+5. Also as mentioned would add a note re the more reactionary parts of his writing. The posts are good but there are a few sections that still veer into v RP-adjacent generalising.

I’m rereading atm. Here’s a tl;dr (which is still pretty long but the article is massive) for part 4: Codependents and narcissists are different sides of the same coin. Codependents have access to their feelings of self-loathing, narcs have incredible defence mechanisms that mean they don’t readily feel self-loathing/insecurity/anxiety/etc. PUA/TRP attracts codependents who instead of seeking out healing opt to create a false idealised self as an 'alpha'. Because they are fundamentally codepende…

Didn't say there was no wisdom or that ideals are a bad thing, just that jordan's mental summersaults don't constitute the 'true' or 'enlightened' meaning of religion. Its fairly easy to derive lessons from stories, thats as true for harry potter as it is for the bible, the point I was responding to was the idea that having a basic grasp of myth makes your version of christianity the 'right' way.

We get it bro you watched some jordan peterson and now know how to do the requisite mental gymnastics to convince yourself that theres some grand metaphorical truth in a book full of stories about how men shouldn't have long hair and slavery is ok

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
