Huh? Regardless of the relationship, it’s a bit weird that everyone is suggesting I’m depriving my hypothetical husband of his “right” to see the kid come out of my vagina. I understand wanting to share the moment with your husband, but I think it should be reserved for when things have calmed down and he can hold the baby without me writhing in pain, without my vagina being ripped open, without me wishing to be alone and zoned in during my most vulnerable time.

Your comment is amazing! Thank you for your support, sister. And I completely resonate with everything you’re saying here. Even when I had my 2 abortions (regardless of how anyone here feels about it I can’t take them back and I feel it’s relevant to share what happened) I didn’t have any man in the room with me. I know it’s not the same as giving birth. (Obviously). But that level of pain (I have endometriosis so my abortions were EXTREMELY EFFING PAINFUL).. it was just too much to have a man p…

I didn’t say I don’t want intimacy. I do want intimacy. I just don’t want him entitled to seeing my vagina ripping open when I’m feeling vulnerable enough as it is

Oh okay. I shared it here because I thought this sub was for traditional-minded women. My bad! I understand that a lot of men would be hurt by not being catered to (not allowed to see the baby come out) but I think if I go about it from a place of femininity it’s a win win situation for us

I appreciate your perspective. I think it’s important to communicate, and encourage men through positive reinforcement. A lot of the resentment stories I hear from women have elements of zero communication to them, and expecting men to just automatically know what to do, or when to be quiet, or how exactly to behave. I don’t think I’ll be disappointed because I’m a very good communicator with men. We shall see what happens, if I ever do become pregnant :)

I just don’t want a man to feel entitled to seeing my vagina. I’m going to be feeling vulnerable enough as it is. And on top of that I have endometriosis and when I’m in severe pain I HATE being around other people. I would like it to be between me and the doctor. I only want to hear the doctors voice in that moment

I see. I’m glad you have something that works for you

They can “understand” objectively but never subjectively. They don’t have our parts. Therefore some things are sacred. I just don’t want anyone around me when I’m vulnerable like that. Even my own father I don’t want him to be around me when I’m dealing with my extreme endometriosis episodes. I just need to focus and have some quiet and not think of anyone else

I don’t want him to see the baby coming out of my vagina and I don’t want anyone around me when I’m in pain. I have endometriosis as it is and whenever my friends/family want to be there for me when I’m crying in pain I just wish they’d go away. I need a completely clear head when I’m in 10/10 pain. I don’t want anyone around, besides the doctor coaching me.

Wow, I never talk to people with the same opinion as me. Unless it’s someone from my own culture. Thank you for sharing. And yes, I believe it used to be very common that women were respected in this way

I see your point. My culture completely contradicts everything you’ve said here. I don’t believe men need to see every personal thing we go through, especially the graphic stuff. And I get super stressed when I’m in pain and I love to just curl up and embrace that shiz on my own. When people are “supporting” me when I’m in pain I just wish they’d go away. Because I need to focus completely on myself

I don’t have a husband. I’m single by choice and have had long term relationships. I’m just planning my future in my head right now. Deciding what I want. And in my culture, we don’t talk about period around our men. I just wanted to see how Americans felt about my line of thinking. I’m not offended but when people are insulting me calling me insecure it doesn’t resonate with me. I don’t feel I’m insecure. I don’t expect a man to understand all of the things that women go through, and I think th…

I understand. I enjoy reading everyone’s opinions regardless. I just wanted to know how common my line of thinking is. Apparently it’s not ok in American culture.

Read my other comment where I talked about my culture, please. I believe in the choice to have my birth done the way I want it, and I have boundaries regarding my privacy when I’m vulnerable and in pain

Well I want him there just not in the room when the baby is coming out of my vagina. I want him there immediately after if that makes sense

In my culture we don’t even get ready/dressed in front of our men if we can help it. It’s not about him being repulsed it’s just moreso I don’t want him to see such a deeply personal thing that I’d rather go through by myself. I deal with significant pain better when I’m alone. When other people are there I get stressed out really bad. And I don’t want him to see my vagina all up close and personal like that because I believe it will stick with him and I just don’t like the idea. I’m not trying …

What’s helped me is pretending, and trusting in the results. For example, instead of begging and pleading, (even when I REALLY want to!) I tell myself “begging will get you the opposite of what you want! Giving him the cold shoulder will make HIM beg YOU. He is putty in your hands” and then I proceed about my business in an unbothered way, knowing he’s about to blow up my phone any minute. Am I sometimes nervous that it won’t work? Yes. But if you stay the course and trust in it blindly, it alwa…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
