I disagree op, I think the message is that it's their choice if they are there or not. obviously without a father it is more difficult but they can't be terrible fathers/husbands since the mom and child can make it on their own. it's diplomacy through having other options

if it helps 1/100 children I'd say it's worth it (morally). how does money going towards supporting the mother and child have nothing to do with the child?

it makes sense that of a woman has to raise the child (usually based on custody, which is the root of this sexist issue) that they need economic support from the man that got them pregnant since it takes a ton of time and effort to raise a child. the alternative is letting men and women have sexytime to get women pregnant and letting single mothers live on the street with their babies. the innocent child is a victim then #expectingdownvotesofunpopularopinions
