I would argue otherwise. She very clearly hit him to which he did not counter. Physically stopping someone is a shit thing to do, but throughout the whole ordeal she was clearly in the wrong. Furthermore, there is never a reason to hit someone who is not posing a direct threat. There was never a point, even when isolated from all other points, that should have cued the need for such violence. The point of this video still stands.

I don't think anyone is arguing about that. The thing is the lady wasn't physically assaulted and the man did nothing to deserve the assault. The whole point of this video and comment section is to show double standards about physical safety.

Basically agree with everything your saying. Still don't like blanketing everyone together. Point and case is Christina Sommers who still identifies as a feminist. Also, know what equality is and believing in equality are two completely different things. All your doing is complaining about how feminism doesn't know what equality is - the same criticism that I have of it.

I am not defending those feminists - only the ones that thought/think that addressing all of the issues that we talk about here are at least as prominent as female issues. Truth be told there have been and still are several prominent feminists that want to reform feminism to get back to addressing real issues like male reproductive rights.

Correlation is not causation. They did not commit a sex crime, nor forced someone else to commit one. Increasing the severity of lying to the courts should be enough.

In my personal experience they truly are just ignorant. I have had really good success with changing this type of behavior by showing them reliable statistics that show them how severe male issues are. They tend to become strong supporters of men's rights (not the shitty kind of ally), or at least stop degrading men and their issues. We already have convictions for lying to the courts and many people who admit to false rape accusations are tried for their crimes. The problem seems to be that these sentences are too light (obviously these crimes are very difficult to prove). Also, it doesn't seem to be just to convict someone of a sex crime for lying - a felony seems to be more than enough.

They do care about men, this is supposed to be ironic. The problem doesn't seem to be so much that they don't care, they just don't know about the problems men face, and treat the ones they do know about with less priority than the problems women face.

Of course most feminists don't hate men, in fact the vast majority DO want equality for all. The problem I find is that most feminists are simply not aware of the problems that men face, or do not know what equality really looks like. It is really simple to say that equality is when men and women are treated the same, but in reality the solution is much more complicated. For example many feminists think that quota systems promote equality rather than hurt it, etc...

I don't see hatred for women, I see hatred for feminism. You don't have to be a feminist to seek equality for the genders. Furthermore, I hate that people completely underestimate what it's like to be a man in another country - gender roles never comprise of completely positive things. You can be black out drunk and take pictures, that's not proof of how intoxicated they were beyond the fact that they were unconscious at the time. Second it's a lot harder for men to get bruised from sex, she didn't go in because of those bruises it was from her suicide attempt. Furthermore, men are far less likely to seek treatment for injuries, so you can't use that as evidence that they weren't hurt. Seriously, stop being so outright sexist.

Basically. Legally speaking if two drunk people have sex then the man is considered to have raped the woman. That's pretty messed up. I think most of the people here are saying that this sort of standard seems evident in this video and that this view is bigoted and outdated. What the 21 year old was doing was super shady though, but dr. Phil was painting a picture more along the lines of all the guys were raping her.

Thank you so much OP! I would say that most people want equality for all, but at the same time very few of them are willing to even speak up when they see inequality occurring in front of them. Can we just get to the point where we admit that the courts are the best and only place for rape trials (or any other trial for that matter). I think my school has it right in that the police work with the school to provide a safe and supportive environment for the victim/accuser, without compromising the rights of the rapist/accused.

I think you are oversimplifying this subject of study. First of a single study does not nullify the large number of surveys and studies that reproduced numbers similar to OP's.
