This 100%. If I’m gonna save and buy a house what’s the best choice? New vs old etc I'd spend the year learning a bit about construction/woodworking. Enough to DIY and buy an older house (my preference, new construction feels sterile imo) that needs SLIGHT renovation. Once bought I'd do those renovations myself. You'll save money and become a more competent man in the process.
