I was a bit drunk, but what she said was almost exactly that. She had a few of her friends at the table and she wanted me to go over there to talk to her. I'm guessing that probably made her more comfortable.

Like for example a woman who was really hot and approached me at a bar said she was a physical therapist. They make almost $100k in my area. After thinking about it more I don't think she was being shallow. She just was looking for someone who makes more.

That's a lot of oversimplifying dude. Some women actually don't hook up a lot. Granted it's fewer than it use to be. If a woman wants to have a one night stand with me I think how many others has she done this with? More normal women will want to at least get to know you a bit. Party girls don't care at all. While I agree that women all have roughly the same biological and social drives, there is some variation in the expression of those. So I don't agree that if she won't f on the first date sh…

If I were a pro bullshitter I could probably get laid a lot. I am good enough looking to get attention sometimes. But I have 0 game. I fail all the shit tests. Point is I don’t really want that. At my age it seems really immature to be just hooking up with women. I think if a woman wants you for casual sex, and will like have a baby with you that’s the best. But again that’s just for my personal goals and preferences. You might love casual sex, so by your standards the ability to get that is bes…

Even in Minneapolis/Twin cities you wouldn’t be able to buy much if a home on that.

The fact that some people don’t even think it’s possible makes me think I must be good looking for my age.

$100k is like middle class money in Minneapolis even the greater twin cities. Yeah, only the too 20% make that. But it’s not enough for champagne wishes and caviar dreams. If she makes the same we can afford a halfway decent house in the suburbs. Think about that for a second. That is in reality what that would purchase. The broader society conversation is more about women accepting men as partners in other ways, not necessarily always the expectation of providers. Has nothing to do with enforce…

Nah, it’s even more sad than that for me. As a few others have pointed out my income of $60k is woefully inadequate. I am unmarriagable. I honestly do not think she was looking for champagne wishes and caviar dreams. Believe I am the type of guy who jumps all over double standards. Women overwhelmingly want to date men who make more than them or at least the same. Does that make them all gold diggers? I’ve gone over and over this in my head. I think there is a little bit of unfairness in regards…

Nah, I am the kind if guy that will call out a gold digger if I see one. I don’t think this was that. I am not going to sit here and make excuses for myself. This chick was a physical therapist. She makes more than me. It’s not unreasonable for her to act in that way and that was never a point I was making. I mean we can argue about feminism and its effects in gender roles and social standards. But that is a society conversation. Not one that applies directly to individual interactions I was mak…

What’s so weird is that I feel like I have been approached by respectable women who were looking for someone that makes more money. It seems very market oriented

So there might be some truth to it! Never been to Australia but when I’ve travelled in Europe, even the UK it seems like Americans are irritating to them.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/10/24 01:52 PM

Side note. I heard Australian women like American men. Is there any truth to that? Is it like here in the states where a British or Australian accent is a bit of a novelty and interesting to women?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/10/24 01:23 PM

Fair enough. I suppose that is possible. But I usually stay away from drunk women who hit on me because I know it’s just them being stupid. This interaction didn’t seem that way Your culture might be a bit different. Here usually women won’t talk to you at the bar unless they are interested. Because otherwise they are inviting weirdos to harass them.

I think it's a little bit unfair. Women wanted to compete with men in the workforce. They wanted to stop playing female gender roles. But yet they still want men to play the male roles. I'm just a random dude and I don't know everything. Just saying this is how I see things.

That's the funniest thing about all this. All the men on here are putting looks on a pedestal. As if that's all you need to land a relationship. I wouldn't say gold diggers. It's more just becoming less attractive when your income is taken into account.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 08:52 PM

I am amazed and shocked when younger women are interested in me at 38. I must look okay. But the way I am dressed and my vibe gives off more money and I think it's just a huge letdown that I'm an ordinary guy
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 08:29 PM

I just don't buy that because of first all surveys and data most recently still show women prefer men who make more. Second, my personal experience of saying what I make and seeing that look of crushing disappointment. "You're so cute how do you only make $60k?" Especially in an urban environment where women are accountants and lawyers and you're in some boring office job.

I am 38. I don't want to date a 21 year old. I am an ordinary Midwestern everyman. Not Leo DiCaprio. When I get approached by women in their 20s I am always so shocked. I guess I am tall enough where they can't see my bald spot!
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 08:16 PM
5

That doesn't matter one bit. Go look at the data, I am a millennial too. Most women want to be with men who make more than them. Just a fact. Men are still held to male gender roles.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 08:13 PM

Women just get the ick unless you make at least $100k. It's just the way it is now.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 07:41 PM
6

Well despite that, every bit of evidence seems to indicate that women still want to date men who make more money than they do. Turns out men are still held to gender roles women aren't. I have literally seen women's looks of disappointment when they find out how much I make.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 07:23 PM

Typically women want to date a man who they are attracted to and can be a provider. This isn’t really disputable. A ton of research shows this is the case.

If it’s a slow night at the bar and she’s with all her dorky friendzoned guys, that’s when she approaches. With my luck usually by the time I’m 3 sheets to the wind just forgetting about life.

I mean I agree if you’re super bad looking it’s going to be even harder, maybe virtually impossible if you’re a total mutant. But if you make a basic salary and you aren’t like a male model or something it’s still pretty hard.

Idk nothing. Just an observation
/r/PurplePillDebate14/10/24 06:30 PM

She doesn’t want to split things that way, 50/50 or no kids. She doesn’t think it’s fair.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/24 11:30 PM

Because what happens is, at the baseline median income, it’s very hard to have kids and afford daycare or one parent being out of the workforce. With people who make much more, it’s one tradeoff or the other. Someone is going to have to be the breadwinner and someone is going to have to do most of the domestic labor. People on this thread keep pointing to women still doing most domestic labor, but that’s because the people who have kids are the ones making these tradeoffs. Fewer and fewer people…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/24 11:25 PM
3

People keep making this same argument, over and over again. I keep refuting it. Every bit of data we can find about American women's dating preferences shows they want men who make more than them. This of course implies traditional male gender roles are still valid. The couples who ARE having kids are the ones willing to make these tradeoffs, but it's decreasing every day.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 03:46 AM
2

The number of stay at home housewives without kids is completely irrelevant. We're talking about women's willingness to do either more domestic labor or more cash providing. If you're going to ignore all the people who aren't having kids because women aren't willing to make either tradeoff, you're being dishonest and self serving.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 02:19 AM
0

I never said women should give up the workforce and go back. I'm saying if they want to take on the roles of men, they need to take on the responsibilities as well. Instead they get the ick from being the breadwinner.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 02:01 AM
2

It absolutely has a massive impact on the stats. If you're looking at a group of people who are willing to make tradeoffs where the woman does more domestic labor, and ignoring a large group who aren't having kids because the woman doesn't want to do either that or be a provider, you're not getting an accurate picture.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 01:50 AM
1

Yeah, I mean that's fair. I do have down time. I work hybrid so I'm at home a lot of days. But I just look at it from my perspective. If I were to be a stay at home dad, I would do everything I possibly could to make my wife's life easier. I would feel great dishonor and guilt at not doing anything I could do. It's just the way I am. Death before dishonor.

LOL I work in Corporate America, but I've worked on dirty jobsites in construction. In both you have to give up your breaks to get things done. Yeah, PTO is great, you use it to take a family vacation, which you pay for, which is nice. Family vacations are a blast, the wife goes too.

/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:59 AM

People keep making this argument without thinking it through. People are staying single for longer and not having kids at all or having kids later because of these tradeoffs.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:58 AM
-1

These statistics ignore several key factors. -Households paying for daycare, so kids are cared for 40 hours a week by non family entities. Fewer people having kids because of these tradeoffs. The people that are having families are the ones willing to make these tradeoffs. A lot of these studies rely on self reporting from women about what housework they do.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:50 AM
-2

And I've said numerous times that those stats are problematic for a number of reasons.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:48 AM
-2

People who are staying single longer than ever, and are more prone to suicide and drug overdose are indeed adrift from society. This fits well within Durkheim's framework. As these things were brought on by massive social and economic changes. These people aren't some revolutionaries with a coherent manifesto. There are people on the left and the right I respect, the fact of the matter is neither side really has a cogent vision of how society should function.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:46 AM
-4

I have cared for family children for extended periods. I know perfectly well the responsibilities it entails. On the contrary, I have offered to be a stay at home dad. She makes more than me. She doesn't want that. So I would have to spend basically 100% of my income in splitting childcare and household expenses with her, and on top of that, based on what's been going on I would have to keep the house clean and do most everything else too. Probably my fault, I'm too much of a simp and I let her …
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:37 AM
1

People keep making this argument, but it ignores the reality. More young men and women are staying single for longer than ever before and are having fewer kids. This is driven by women unwilling to date men who make less than them or to take on a majority of domestic duties.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:26 AM
-5

Fewer people are having families because of these tradeoffs. This is just a fact. I have a girlfriend, but these tradeoffs may prevent us from having a family, we'll see. It's an ongoing issue in our relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:22 AM
-1

Vote for Trump then LOL
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:20 AM
3

People are having fewer kids because they can't afford it without women making a career sacrifice or being a breadwinner which gives them the ick.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:19 AM
-1

Those studies are misleading for a number of reasons. For one, they ignore that in many of these families people are paying for daycare, so neither parent is caring for the kid the majority of the time. So yeah, if the woman spends time breastfeeding and taking care of the infant. These are things men simply can't do. That's going to spike her contributions. Most also rely on self reporting from women, which is not really the best measure.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:17 AM
-3

Of course there were, but at that time women were held to a different social standard. They were expected to be stay at home moms. Now they're not expected to do those duties or be a provider. While men are still expected to do the same things AND traditionally female duties.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:10 AM
1

Women seem to express these preferences in many different ways. Women prefer to be with men who make more than them. Most women don't want to be stay at home moms. Most women don't want to do more domestic duties than their partner or spouse.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:09 AM
0

On average it's minuscule amounts, but individual comparisons will look different. And you also have to look at the increasing unmarried state of young people. Women are choosing to stay single rather than marry men who make less.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:07 AM
-2

The EU has many of the same issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:05 AM
0

I'm just speaking to what I would do. I wouldn't feel right passing off work that I can do if I'm not employed. If there are other tradeoffs to be had, that's fair.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:04 AM
-2

My friend and his wife have a situation where she makes less than he does, so he picks up the tab for the extra cost of childcare so she can work. So her job essentially costs money. On top of that, she wants him to do more work than her at home. He does all the standard male stuff, yard care, shoveling snow, home repairs etc. Then she wants him to clean and cook most of the time. I feel like this is just standard with a lot of women now.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 12:02 AM
-2

Yes, one is going to have to make the tradeoff. When women don't want to be the provider or do the majority of domestic labor, they are basically not responsible for anything. This is why we're seeing falling birthrates.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:57 PM
-2

I think a lot of modern stay at home moms seem to have a lot of time to play around on TiKTok. We've already established this is a minority situation, but it's still significant numbers. All I can say is that if I were to be a stay at home dad, I would be guilt ridden asking my wife to do anything I can't actually do myself. Responsibility is what drives me. Should a man help in these situations? Absolutely, he should, bit it shouldn't be an equal split.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:56 PM
2

Young women on average are out earning young men in many major cities. This is the future.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:51 PM

Because there isn't enough money to do it feasibly. Or if there is the woman might have to be the provider or the stay at home mom.

Random sampling is a tried and true method.

I guess to me it's just a matter of dignity. If my wife is working to support me and my family, I'm going to make damn sure I am doing everything within my capability to make her life easier. Yeah, I'll ask for some help, but I'm not going to ask her to do anything I can't do myself.

Women want men to do the stereotypical male roles (making more money) AND do the domestic labor.

There's a ton of surveys and think pieces about modern women complaining that they can't find men who make more than them.

That's fair enough. I'm just saying it shouldn't be a totally equal split in domestic duties. The same goes for men if they want to be stay at home dads. If I was a stay at home dad, I would make sure everything is perfect for my wife. I wouldn't want her to have to worry about taking care of stuff around the house.

Stay at home moms are a minority, and their behavior is only part of the larger social context. Women who make much more do not want to support stay at home dads in the way men do for women. It's a multifacited problem.

Women overwhelmingly express a preference to be with men who make more than them. While they don't want to be held to old gender roles, they want men to be. Both parents working only works if both make enough to split all the expenses. A lot of times it makes more sense for one parent to care for the kid instead of paying for daycare.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:19 PM
1

The problem is the income disparities. Typically one parent makes a lot more. Increasingly women are. In many large US cities young women out earn young men. This is the result of reporting requirements and affirmative action. But even if it's the man making more, the woman then doesn't want to pick up the domestic responsibilities. There are tradeoffs, when one parent is making more, whichever one that may be, it typically makes more sense for the one with less earning power to care for the kid…

So you honestly think I man should go to work most likely in excess of 40 hours to support his family, and on top of that he should share equally in domestic duties when his wife stays home?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:15 PM
-8

Women need to start being more willing to take on one responsibility or the other. Men need to do the same, but I think in this case it's ultimately on women because they choose to give birth or not.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:12 PM
-2

I agree it's a minority, but even in those situations women seem to want men to contribute equally to domestic duties. Do you really think that's equitable or logical?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:10 PM

Most women express a preference for romantic relationships with men who earn more than them. Few women even want to be stay at home moms.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/24 11:09 PM
-3

The problem is that there is increasingly income disparities between men and women. Either the woman makes more or the man does. In many large US metro areas young women are out earning young men. So at some point a division of labor is neccesary. Especially when you get into the choices and tradeoffs that come with having a family. Childcare is very expensive, and if both parents aren't making a lot, it usually makes more sense for one parent to take care of the child for the 6 years before the…

It is excellent satire of the situation with gyms though. Where women prance around and try hard to get you to look at them and then if your gaze casts in their direction for 1 second they put you on TikTok. You have to completely avoid looking at them at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/24 12:01 AM

For sure, plenty of women look great as they age, especially if they take good care of themselves. I am in pretty good shape. I work out and do a lot of outdoor activities. I’m not like jacked or anything. I’m not super tall either, like 5’10. I consider myself pretty average looking. I get varied responses. Some women say I am super good looking. Others just say I am generic and plain.

Whatever you say, 10 years younger is much younger. That for me is a 28 year old woman. I know some women hate it when men are able to get with younger women than them, but many can.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 08:56 PM

The issue is with women making it taboo and then throwing shade on young men for not approaching them.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 08:42 PM

I think many women do like being approached in public spaces. Your viewpoint doesn’t universally speak for every single woman in the world.

/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 08:25 PM

It pretty much is, when I approach women I have some social cues already. Cold approach just means you don’t know them have never talked to them before.

/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 06:37 PM

As I said in the OP, I’m sure there is a ring of truth to that. But there is also the aspect of making approaches taboo. To the point where if you try to politely flirt and ask a barista for her number you’re a huge asshole even if you just say thank you and have a nice day and nothing more if she says no.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 06:10 PM

That's really the subject under discussion here. I'm arguing that it should be acceptable to approach women in more everyday settings. I was never able to find a girlfriend at bars, those are all party girls. I found my girlfriend at a corporate junket, I asked for her number and it was a huge risk. She could have reported me to my company and I could have been fired.

This is what I mean by party girls, like yeah, I am a dude, I totally would have hooked up with her not going to sugar coat it and act like I'm some kind of hero. I live in a pretty big city, over the years I've spent a lot of time in these places. I've had a few hookups, even been approached a few times. The problem is that today, those places really don't exist. Bars and clubs cater to and attract certain demographics. Women I've met at bars and clubs are always party girls, not fiance/wife material. So what does that leave? Hobby groups? Niche subcultures with small followings. I just think women need to be more open to being approached politely and not make such a big deal out if it. A shy young man works up the courage to ask a barista for her number at a coffee shop. So what? She's at work?…

Very few men are going to turn violent. These things are overplayed in media so there is an irrational fear of it. Asking for sex immediately is insane. This is true, but that category is a lot wider in person than it is in online dating apps. I am convinced of that. As an aging millennial in my late 30's who has been able to hook up with Gen Z women at bars and had next to 0 matches on dating apps, I am very convinced they're bullshit.

What is the big deal about a man politely asking for a woman's number and saying he thought she was cute? I can understand not wanting to be harassed, but just having a polite interaction where the man just takes no for an answer and goes on his merry way, I don't understand why that's such a big deal. It just seems like women complain about this online to get attention and show how cool they are that men are approaching them.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 02:45 AM

Sure I would apply that to any sort of petty complaint about minor inconveniences and indignities of everyday life. However, I'm not nearly as concerned about it because the social implications aren't as deep. People who do door to door sales are just trying to make a living, I don't fault them for that. Most of the time they are polite and just give you their business card and leave when you say no. I don't think they deserve to be lambasted for trying to make a living. In the same way, I don't…

I don't think women going on social media and ranting about men politely approaching them and not harrasing should be as socially acceptable as it is. Women are going to public gyms now and trying to attract attention from men so that they can post it on TikTok. Gyms should be banning recording because it's a privacy issue. But since women want to do it, the companies are allowing it.

It's really a very immature way of looking at the world "I should never have to deal with anyone I don't like or find attractive" Well, the world doesn't revolve around you. You shouldn't have to deal with harassment and relentless men continuing to bother you after you've said no. But simply being politely approached and nothing more is not a reason to complain.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 01:47 AM

I completely agree, I think women do this for attention. When they get on TokTok and talk about some guy approaching them it gets attention. For guys that don't take no for an answer, I think they deserve what they get and they should be shamed. It's not right to harass people.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/24 01:44 AM

I think it's a victim mentality and a plea for attention. I don't respect anyone who does that. If a guy is an asshole and won't leave you alone, I think you should shame that man, even on social media because that kind of behavior should not be tolerated in polite society.

I disagree, wholeheartedly. I am in my late 30's and a few years ago before I met my girlfriend I approached women in bars and got attention from women much younger than me, even hookups. I am decent looking, but really no super Chad or anything. I have the everyman thing going I guess.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure my girlfriend would never have swiped me on a dating app. I couldn't care less, those things are stupid. I do think women's standards are different on apps than real life. Think of it this way, you have to be the hottest among 5000 guys to be swiped. But in real life, your competition is more limited and she views you differently. Especially when you add in your valence and personality.

I don't really think that's true, I think it's a minority of men who want strictly hookup sex. When I use to go out with my buddies late 20's early 30's, we were always looking to find a girlfriend because we wanted families. I mean we were always okay with a hookup, but it can be disappointing. For men that can get unlimited hookups all the time, they don't care. It's hard to say, on the one hand it could be a primal desire to spread your seed far and wide. On the other hand, humans are inherently monogomous. The fact that our offspring are vulnerable and require constant care and attention to reach maturity has evolved that into our nature. It's actually really remarkable to think about early human life. Those are all going to matter more than soft skills. Like 80 percent of women rate 80% of men as unattractive. So if you’re in that bottom 80% you’ll need to be extremely charismatic and funny for it to really move the needle for you. More and more women are choosing to stat single or be in situationships with more attractive me…

It’s a lot like how people say soft skills are the most important factor in getting a good job. Soft skills do matter, but without the right experience and education they are meaningless. If you have those skills and also have soft skills you may have an edge over a candidate that doesn’t have great soft skills. Similarly, in the dating world if you are very attractive women generally won’t care if you’re kind of shy and socially awkward. May even think it’s cute. If you want social skills to he…

Getting hookups at the club is easy. A lot of those women go there to get drunk and hookup. I've had women approach me in those places (not that often but a few times) Problem is they aren't relationship material. So unless you just want to hookup, it's not worth the time and effort. I feel like hooking up is like a college kid thing, I wouldn't be interested in it in my late 30's.

I don’t hate single mothers. But it is a social problem. They typically can’t support their kids and the state needs to step in and the taxpayer ends up footing the bill for their poor life choices. On top of that kids raised by single mothers have far greater likelihood of bad social outcomes like spending time in prison. Women usually end up single mothers because the men they find sexy and exciting are actually losers. Those men have their share of blame. But honestly they are a small portion…

That’s fair, but it only proves my point. You don’t have friends of the opposite sex without an ulterior motive of a possible romantic interest

It’s almost like you don’t view them as friends but potential love interests.

Not true, every single bit of available data on the subject indicates women prefer men who make more money than they do.

I'm glad I have a good thing going with my girlfriend. If it doesn't work out I don't think I would bother dating again in this new environment. It's just not worth the time. I lucked out and met someone in a work related event for charity and we just clicked. She didn't pull this BS on a first date. We kept everything pretty chill at the start of it.

First dates should never be an interrogation. It’s entitled behavior. Like some of these women didn’t bring much to the table. Don’t know why they thought I should really be proving myself like it’s a job interview with behavior questions.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 11:00 PM

I just don’t think it needs to be like an interrogation on the first date. It’s really off putting.

I completely agree, you're correct that it's also that men are less marriageable because of neoliberal market fundamentalist policies that aim to create a market society.

I mean how many videos do you see on TikTok about this stuff. Women are doing this and it's becoming a lot more common.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 08:18 PM

I'm sorry but it's rude to ask about that kind of stuff before getting to know someone. Also, women will absolutely go for guys who want to hookup, if they didn't men wouldn't be doing it.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 07:01 PM

Right, but what we're seeing is the breakdown of the family. Most people are average. They don't make a ton of money or have movie star looks.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 07:00 PM

Exactly, all that stuff was in its infancy.

It's more of a problem for society. The family is the cornerstone of American society. It's part of what made the country the best place to live in the world. On top of that, when the baby daddy doesn't have money, the taxpayer foots the bill for everything.

Nah, I don't see women putting up with a lot from ugly dudes. Maybe it happens but it's not as common these days. Women will divorce their husbands in their 30's now because they're on TikTok and other social media and they think they can do so much better. Then they end up regretting it when they find out they can't get a commitment from the men they thought they would be eligible for. Even if they're still hot enough to get a date, or a hookup from one of these top guys, they're not getting th…

Read the OP, I said fishing or outright asking, because I've experienced both. And fishing means I tell you, I work at a financial company and you proceed to give me the third degree about what my actual job is presumably so you can try to figure out exactly what that dollar figure is.

How about, "How much money do you make?" on the first date? You don't think that's rude?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 04:10 PM

I don't buy it, most women seem to put up with a lot from men they really want. Like they'll stay in a situationship for years on end waiting for him to commit while he fucks other women.

But there’s also just a vibe of like “you are so lucky to have a date with me, kiss my ass as much as possible”.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 03:03 PM

The issue is that women are becoming single moms or alone because the men they think are sexy and exciting are actually losers. Those men that are responsible, reliable, and conscientious are boring, if they don’t have movie star looks.

I’m just very average looking. People say I look generic. My girlfriend says I’m a very plain midwestern guy. Now since dating is all online I probably wouldn’t be able to date the women I did in my youth.

Glad I have a girlfriend now for just over 2 years. We have a lot of fun together and I really care about her. But should it not work out, I won’t bother again in this environment.

It was also scoffed at socially. It was considered to be for nerds and the socially stunted.

I mean, it is true that the effort makes a difference. Went on dates with women who would be hotter if they did more in terms of makeup, hair, skin. It’s like a house, curb appeal is surface level but it does make a difference.

Tons of evidence shows this social pattern makes everyone more miserable. If you are waiting for brad pitt to sweep you off your feet and you wait forever, you’re harming yourself on an individual level. When it becomes a widespread social pattern it then starts to undermine the fabric of society.

It was a better time. The Great Recession was a punch in the face. But the parties, the social life, the dating. It all seems so much better than this screen addicted life people are living now.

You honestly think it’s healthy for women to have unrealistic expectations and spend their lives alone?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 03:20 AM

True, but I mean above average men always have been swimming in attention from women. That was never me. But nevertheless i get your point, anecdotes aren’t enough to judge things on.

But it seems like it wasn’t like this for me when I was younger. Could always get dates. I am average looking. If I was that age now I feel like I wouldn’t get any dates in this current era.

It’s bad because those women will be less happy, despite that dumb flawed study being peddled by the media. It’s bad because families are the cornerstone of American life and culture. It’s bad because birth rate declines in communities is destructive of the American way of life. You can say that all these things just don’t matter because you don’t like them, but these things are part of the fabric if American life and what made it the best place in the world to be.

It’s a negatively driven social pattern for women to be wanting to date above their league and staying single when they can’t get commitment from those guys. It’s bad in so many ways.

Which highlights my point, in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s when i was that age I found it relatively easy to get dates with women I felt were on my level.

Right but younger men are also struggling to find dates with women they feel are on their level.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 02:53 AM

Dating was just a whole different vibe back then. You didn’t have these dating apps and widespread proliferation of social media. Tons of research shows women only see a small number if men as attractive and only swipe them. While men have a lot more flexibility as far as attractiveness preferences. So younger men are having the same issues. Issues that I didn’t have when I was that age. I found it far easier to get a date with someone I felt was on my level than most younger men feel today.

I think it causes women to think they’re hotter than they are. They post a cleavage shot on instagram or twitter and 100 dudes are drooling over it. Like so what you have boobs lol
