Here here. The way positive change is going to be made is through frank conversations with real people, not through ideology and argument. The average person is far smarter than you give them credit for. People know instinctively when ideas are working against their own goals, and when dogma is working against their better judgement. They will reject ideas they know to be toxic to their own betterment. Talk to your friends about what is really bothering you about being a man. Many of them will p…

Bravo. Whenever things get dark, I always remind myself that reason will always win out over bullying and hatred. People are far more intelligent than we give them credit for. Truly just causes need no speaker, it is just a matter of time and awareness. A sense of justice is innate to every human being - all it takes is time to acknowledge where we've gone wrong and then everything takes care of itself from there.

An excellent read. It's one thing to hear about these worst case scenarios on TRP, but it's a life-changing experience when you have to witness it play out in real life.

Not only do I think it's not possible, but I don't even think it is worth it. You are putting the cart before the horse here. People don't become masters because they sat down one day, decided they wanted to pursue something, and then did it every day until they were good. People become masters at their craft because they simply love doing it. In fact, they loved doing it so much that they wanted to get up and do it every day. Over time they learned the nuances of their craft, and eventually imp…

I think there is a difference in giving insight vs giving help. Ah, precisely. My idea of giving "counsel" as OP says it is discussing women over some drinks or at a party, just offering advice to those who ask for it. But if your idea of counsel is trying to be this wannabe Hitch match-maker, you're only go to waste your energy getting other people laid while you sit around sucking your thumb.

Exactly. What you need is a foot in the door. After that it's just a matter of pursuing the opportunities you stumble upon (or seek out).

I agree with this 100%. I banged a friend of a friend at a party at my house one night. I later banged the friend that introduced me to her a year later. She knew literally everything about me - the size of my dick, how I performed, what I liked to do in bed. They went into every detail imaginable. Another good example: I am close friends with a married couple. I have heard more about the dude's performance in bed than I even care to recall. It didn't matter who was around, if the husband wasn't…

One of the things someone told me when I first became unplugged was to help other like-minded men also become unplugged. Talking with your male friends, whether they be BP or RP, doesn't seem like a waste of time to me. It helps you connect with other guys, and maybe they'll actually listen and try to point themselves in the right direction. If they despise him for his advice, then so be it. So long as he's not taking it upon himself to solve other people's problems (which it doesn't sound like …

STEM career guy, 26 y/o. Some more advice for those going into STEM careers: Don't just attend a four year college and expect to be handed a job straight out of college. Make sure you apply for internships over summer breaks, or better yet, join a co-op program if your school offers one. I was originally sold on the illusion that if I went to college and worked hard enough, I would get a good job after college. Just to hedge my bets, though, I joined the co-op program during my freshman year jus…

You are in the anger phase hardcore. This is quite natural, but it will fade over a very long period of time. Work on improving yourself. You would not be this angry if you were the one fucking them. You are upset because you are on the outside looking in, frustrated that you cannot be a part of the fun. Find a way inside of the party and suddenly you'll be telling yourself how great it is that these women will give you sex at the drop of a hat. Revenge is a waste of time. Actions have consequen…

You and I could have the same exact life story. Except when I was in high school, I was one the dudes orbiting the nerd chick. And yea, then TRP. The sudden embarrassing realization of it all, the past suddenly becoming so crystal clear. The feeling that you've been getting shorted for so long, and then realizing you aren't crazy when you discover other men out there going through the same thing as you. Definitely a huge revelation.

Start a company I feel like people throw around this suggestion like starting a company is just something you do in your spare time. Starting a company takes hours of grueling work and dedication. It is not something you do in your spare time when you want to de-stress.

It was heart-warming to join a brotherhood, or at least a community, of men who were determined to move on from past pains and dedicate themselves to self-improvement and ultimately a masculine enjoyment of life. For men, there is something weirdly supportive about straight-talking, no-nonsense, man-to-man advice. At first it may seem cold, aloof, and even rude, but when one thinks about the power in independence, it makes more sense. Excellent story there, very well articulated. This quote abov…

I have also been falsely accused of rape. I had never even had sex at the time either - I was a virgin and we merely made out at a party. Cops were not involved, she simply told my friends that to avoid looking responsible (she had a boyfriend at the time and couldn't cop to it). I too was floored that someone could falsely accuse someone of doing something so heinous just to avoid responsibility.

I think you may be right - that it's just a matter of outgrowing it. Gaming does make me happy in many ways (beyond just the enjoyment of playing them). It's a way I connect with a lot of my friends. It's just that you can't sustain that forever without getting bored.

That was an excellent summary, thank you for taking the time to provide links as well. I don't follow any personalities in the manosphere, though I sometimes read Chateau for a hearty chuckle (I wish I could write as well as that guy does). I find it kind of a shame that such a schism has occurred in the manosphere. And Gamergate was the straw the broke the camels back? I think what did it for me was not just the claim, but the fact that the Zoe Post was backed up by raw chat logs. Hard proof is what I personally needed to see before I realized the truth. It's not as simple as saying "oh, look, I can see how fucked up the world is! Almost everyone in the western world does not get enough sleep, so don't feel too bad. It is a side-effect of modern society, where we cannot find time to do everything we want, so we sacrifice sleep as a result. I cannot understate the importance of good sleep for both your mind and body. I can diet and exercise for days but not shed a single pound. Then I'll actually get some sleep and suddenly the weight melts off. I hear that it is the same with bulking - it will be most effective when you s…

No, not sweet tea. Sweet tea is basically just sugar water and is really unhealthy for you. Just brewed black tea, sans sugar and milk and the fixings. Green tea is also quite delicious, in my opinion, and a black/green combo is sold in stores that's a got an excellent taste. Some people claim that tea has health benefits and contains useful anti-oxidents. I don't know if this is a BS health claim. The reason I said to drink tea is to replace the caffeine gained from coffee, in case OP really en…

Some basic self-maintenance can go a long way. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water. You'd be surprised how quickly fatigue goes away when you properly rehydrate yourself. Eat healthy and don't skip meals. You need food for fuel. This could possibly go as #1, but get 7-8 hours of sleep a day. This is actually the one place most people miss out on. Having to do everything tired will basically kill your motivation. Cut down on alcohol and caffeine. Drink tea where possible. I know those are a…

While I agree with some folks that this is a sign of disrespect from your friends, I feel like this adage really applies: "She was never yours, it was only your turn." First of all, A+ on everything up to the point you're at now. You had fun, you didn't commit, you made all of the right moves. I'd say you got the best possible scenario there. I do agree that it is a losing battle, and the MSM is not on their side. They are fighting the good fight, but the more vitriol that gets thrown around, the worse it's going to look on them. The one thing I am thankful for is that Eron Gjoni published the Zoe Post. He had the brains to back it up with proof as well, because everything that he claims Zoe did is so contemptible, no one would believe him without it. He really kicked off this whole thing for me and a lot of others, and that I'm than…

Thank you for this excellent post. I really enjoyed it because: You are an experienced man with a normal marriage and kids. I'm glad everything has worked out for you, as I hope it does for me someday. It seems very hard these days to maintain a stable marriage, I am glad everything has worked out for you. I just beat Dark Souls 3 and am currently stuck on Smough and Ornstein in Dark Souls at the moment. Ironically, I was just thinking about how they're actually some of the first games in a while that sucked me in as badly as they did. Probably has to do with the fact that they're genuinely challenging and not simply designed to be beaten. Nevertheless, my argument still stands. A video game is a product to be consumed. Even when you go to game conventions (PAX East is the only one I attend), they…

This thought crosses my mind all the time. Sometimes when I get home at night and sit down to a video game I think "I'm just doing the same things over and over again. No matter how many games I go through, there will always be new releases, with new levels, new collectibles, and new stats to grind up. I will never get this time back, no matter how much I feel like it's some sort of progress." I used to get a ton of joy out of video games. It felt like I was solving a problem, expressing myself …

Sorry, I am confusing you here. He only started compiling evidence of her infidelity and sociopathy after the shit hit the fan. I enjoyed the personal story on how you got here. I don't recall what the Elliot Rodger shootings are, and I probably won't look into it since it will likely only make me a little more disappointed in MSM. Nevertheless, I find it comforting when people try to disparage TRP only to actually drive people towards it. TRP covers a ton of material. There is no way we will ever agree on everything. No, Gjoni was a boyfriend who had met her via a dating app. He was the one who meticulously documented their dysfunctional relationship and compiled it into the Zoe Post. Whether or not he was (or is) connected to the game industry is lost on me. Nathan Grayson, who worked at Kotaku, was one of the journalists she slept with at the time. I can't remember if there were others.

Being emotionally strung-out is pretty normal after a big break-up, especially an LTR. Don't berate yourself too much just because you have a lot of lingering feelings. Heavy drinker here. I agree with the rest - I've had my share of fun with alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes, especially in the college years. But after college alcohol just becomes a crutch you need to lean on, whether that be for social lubrication, overcoming anxiety, or just to alleviate boredom on a random idle night. I'm now at the point where I'd rather be doing most things without alcohol and am working to wean myself off it. Being able to drink a lot will only impress people in high school …

The pseudo-science behind the explanations people give for male/female behavior in the modern sexual market place. Evolutionary psychology is the "go to" explanation for everything unexplainable these days. Men/women do something random and counter-intuitive to rational thought? I'd like to clarify that beyond the usual TRP material, you should not treat reading as a "self-improvement" exercise. Too many people go into reading with the mindset of "I really hate reading but I want to improve myself, so I'll force myself to read some edgy financial/exercise/self-help book promoted by X CEO/life coach/guru." Then when they wind up hating it or getting bored, they drop reading altogether. Reading should not be a means to an end. Read because you enjoy reading. Find a book y…

That being said: Show that you genuinely care about your education and are actually interested in what you are learning. A piece of non-TRP advice for you is to only stick with songs you know well, as forgetting lyrics in the middle of songs tends to annoy everyone else in the room. Also, don't be afraid to let loose. Agreed. No one in TRP is saying that women cannot excel in the ways that a man can. We're saying that given their disposition, they probably just won't. It's equal opportunity, not equal outcome. Sociologists and psychologists will never admit to the fundamental differences between men and women and what that means for society - they'll simply cover their ears and blame the "patriarchy" for any perceived differences.

I think a better term than "stupidity" would be "ignorance". Stupidity is a strong word. In my mind it literally denotes absolute buffoonish-ness. Total idiocy. Real people aren't like this. But if you aren't self-aware enough to realize what is going on around you, it's very easy to fall prey to the whims of society. People aren't stupid. They're just doing what they're told.

Actually, she said it the first time drunk. The second time she was sober. The third time she was also sober. I can't recall how she was the next 7 times she said it. I do know she was drunk when she took me to the side the bar we were at and made me promise her we were going to get married when we were 35. So I think I got a very clear impression about her intentions. This isn't a story about how alpha I am. In fact, I specifically say how beta I am and how TRP is helping me avoid all that. It …

I think the explanation is: she was hot, so she got away with it.

Wow, this is such a wonderful response. Thank you for your understanding. I was convinced every woman would hate me if I started posting on TRP, but I'm glad my perceptions about this experience were not just my own. I knew a lot of female engineers at college who were very much like you - hard-working, balanced, and ready to make an independent career for herself. Best of luck to you and your career plans.

Woah, woah, calm down! I am not hung up on this in any way, shape, or form. I never was. It was merely the fact that she was paying attention to me after graduation, and then the marriage statement that finally tipped me off that something was wrong. It didn't make sense to me. She can go fuck whatever boyfriend she wants right now. I'm not going to marry this girl and never will. My impression is that she does not want me at all, that's the thing. She just wants the assurance of a safety net in…

Hot damn, what a post! A few notes: She goes on to describe how perfect it will be - you the perfect dutiful husband, she the perfect hot wife, perfect kids, a wonderful relationship, everything she's ever dreamed of. She did this already without me needing to ask. And her fantasy is exactly as you describe. If she's revealed her N to you (doubtful, and if she did, she was lying), she knows she's screwed. She did years ago, but in my Blue Pill line of thinking I promptly forgot it.

No one has outright told my friend, but I think he is partially aware and perhaps chooses to ignore. that hotgirl would spin into her being the victim. It wouldn't even be hard for her to do so. Right on the money, this has already happened.

I think I've turned the word 'Nancy' into a thing now. It actually fits pretty well. But yes, as I said in the post, I can't stop looking back and seeing all the obvious signs I missed and the Nancies in my life. But those are stories for another post.

Wow, thank you. The story seems to be resonating a lot with people. Glad I could really reach out to you. Cheers to you too man.

The more popular this thread gets, the more I dread the inevitable witch hunt. But the messages I've gotten from the others have really helped. Hopefully I will avoid the firestorm.

Thank you for the kind words, I'm getting a lot of compliments on my writing today it seems.

Just texted me yesterday, supposed to hang out tomorrow with her new bf and a few friends. But will probably skip for now - got a lot of work piling up on me I need to get done.

Holy crap, this sounds awesome! But I think my goal here is letting it go. If I hold on to the letter I simply hold on to the bitterness.

Yea, I think maybe the most painful lessons are the most valuable ones. I would have never seen this coming if I hadn't made the mistake in the first place.

What a compliment, thank you! I enjoy writing and consider it a passion of mine, glad you found it enjoyable.

I've kept my thoughts to myself for now. Don't really want to have to deal with bullshit. Haven't really seen her much, but she's been around.

I think that she thinks I come off as super beta, so that a comment like that wouldn't really register. And like I said, she was drunk when she said it. Maybe it wasn't in her best judgement for me to hear.

Yea dude. I want you to believe me as much as possible, but you're starting to get a little personal here. You're either going to have to believe me on my story alone, or I'm just going to accept that you're skeptical and won't until I literally post a picture of me swiping into the building. Anyway, posting the picture was a stupid idea. I needed to take it down.

Searched for reasons for my anger online, ended up finding TRP, Roissy, and Rollo and haven't looked back. Yea, it was a very meandering search for meaning that finally led me here, but when I did find it, my mind was blown.

Thank you! It was really just a personal story to explain my entry into TRP, but I'm glad you found a lot of meaning in it.

Damn, thanks for the positive feedback! I really appreciate the encouragement. I agree, I was also flattered by the marriage compliment, until you realize its not much of a compliment at all.

Holy shit! Thank you! This made me feel great! Like I said in the post, reading TRP has been depressing, exciting, and scary all at the same time. It's depressing because I feel like I've been blind to all the obvious clues I've been missing all my life, and assured in my belief that the "right woman" would always come around. But its also exciting because now I finally have the opportunity to turn it all around.

Well, either my story is real, or I made ALL that shit up and then faked a verification photo just to convince people that I'm real. I guess it really doesn't matter if you don't believe me either way.

I fumed about it for a little while and sort of stewed in my own disappointment at my whole situation in life. A few weeks ago I discovered TRP, and now that it's explained everything to me I finally understood the whole thing from a fresh perspective. I've been lurking here for a few weeks, and now I'm just posting my story through the lens of a new TRPer. I haven't seen her since TRP, but she's been texting me. Next time I see her I'm gonna call her out on it. I'll let you know how she reacts.

I haven't seen her since then, but she keeps inviting me out, and next time I see her I'm going to actually tell her the truth.

This is a decent point, so I'll add to it. At that point in my life I was a super "no judgement" type of guy, I just wanted to accept everyone for what they were, regardless of flaws. I had a few friends who were also like Nancy, so I presumed that there were many people going through the same thing. That it was just college. Of course, I wasn't dumb enough to ever want to live with her. No fucking way I would have let her grab $1000 of off me. Even back then I wouldn't have rationalized that sh…

Perhaps I should have offered proof? Apologies for the vagueness of the details. I was trying to avoid using as little personal information as possible. EDIT: Also, I just realized that your statement wasn't so much of an insult as it was a compliment of my writing. Thank you! I was considering going into writing as a career since its a real passion of mine, but went into banking at the suggestion of my father since he told me to go with the job that pays better. Best advice he's ever given me. …

I feel like niczar is right on this one, though I appreciate the advice. Nancy has always come off as the type of girl who knows how to game the system, even if she's not acutely aware of it. I think any sign that I've become aware of her TRPing is going to guarantee she never texts me again. But if I told her I never wanted her, even if she threw herself at me this very second, I have a feeling that would drive her insane. Either way, I think I'm going to avoid it altogether, because in the mon…

I disagree with this title. This article doesn't demonize men at all. You could say it only tells one side of the story, but most of those women didn't bash the men - they spoke of their own mistakes in marrying them and how they moved on. Besides, I think I would leave an alcoholic abusive wife too.

I think it's a stretch to simply apply the blanket label of "leftists" as feminists. Also, feminism is not a "conspiracy". Arguably taking the Seneca Falls Convention as the start of the feminist movement, feminism began long before the rise of communism, big capitalism, and the use of psychological warfare to control a populace (psychology was literally not even a term back then). It made great strides in America to give women the right's they truly deserved, such as the right to vote. It's not…
