Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? When the adult obesity rate in the US is 42.4% (1), I think it's time to stop blaming individuals for moral failings and start looking for systemic causes. We live in a processed food landscape where billions of dollars go to food engineering and marketing. Most people don't stand a chance against that. https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/adult.html | /r/PurplePillDebate | 15/08/20 11:59 AM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Ah, I think I understand now. Yeah, a lot of things shouldn't matter, but it's always good to err on the side of gentleness. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 10:27 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?it shouldn't really matter that much. BMI shouldn't matter that much, or pre-filtering partners before seeing photos shouldn't matter that much? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 10:20 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? That's very helpful; thank you. I had to look up what "band size" is and in doing so found a helpful diagram on this site: https://victress.pk/how-to-measure-bra-size/ Have a great weekend! | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 03:49 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? To each their own. The "no food after 7pm" rule is a good one. Better sleep, less likelihood of reflux, longer fasting window, breakfast tastes better, food is cheaper earlier in the day, the list goes on. But as with all things, we must each know our pyschological limits. Although, in the case of early time-restricted eating (e.g., 8am to 2pm), the science has shown that it results in greater satiation and mental well-being than an all-day eating window (e.g., 8am to 8pm). Have a great weekend! | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 03:14 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?I'm still confused. The number (e.g., 30) is the circumference of your ribcage, right? And the cup size (e.g., D) is the size of the pouch area, right? I also don't understand how D-cup breasts are considered small, on any body type. Isn't a B-cup the average? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 03:11 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? That's a fantastic idea in theory, but my experience has (numerous times) already been that people who turn over a new leaf present that leaf as who they are. So the heavy-set girl eats whole-foods plant-based. The skinny-fat girl lifts freeweights at the gym. Etc. I can't fault these people for misrepresentation because they are just trying to improve, but where a person is on the timeline of progress matters, both in results and most relevant to me--an LTR seeker-likelihood to continue. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 03:03 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? Thanks for the advice. Enough people here share your opinion on it being a disqualifier / offputting that I'll keep it to myself and just do the legwork of photos and videos . . . and refusing blind dates. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:57 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Yes, it's the form of intermittent fasting with the best scientific support so far. The basic idea of time-restricted eating is that your circadian rhythm governs the timing of almost everything in your body, and humans evolved to eat at certain times and not at others, so modern-era humans would benefit from a restricted eating schedule. The "early" in early time-restricted denotes the caloric load for the day will favor the morning hours (vs. the evening hours, which are far more popular). | 1 | Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? When I was in high school, I may have agreed with you. There were a lot of muscular guys. But on a society level, that's just not true. I'll let you do your own research on that. Concerning BMI's usefulness, I must strongly disagree with you. Medical professionals, at least in the US, step in when a problem has started producing unpleasant symptoms. Body fat % gain begins long before that, so parents, teachers, friends, relatives, etc. should start discussing BMI. BMI is far more useful than you… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:48 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Amen; a intellectually well-armed population is a resilient population no matter the environment. FYI, if you haven't looked into it, check out early time-restricted eating. You can make your calorie counting even more effective. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:38 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?:-) !! | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:31 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?I think you'll find the conversations herein have been positive and profitable. I hope you have a better day . . . and weekend :-) !! | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:31 PM

Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? Thanks for sharing. I would rather have to do more work sorting than to tap into others' insecurities. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:29 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Addicts have a phrase that goes something like this: If you hang out in a barber shop long enough, you're going to get a haircut. Most of us know we eat too much and the wrong foods, but the food landscape is set against us. It's designed for profit, not health. Individual betterment matters--it's responsible for my dietary success--but it doesn't scale, IMO. Btw, I hope we can agree there are indeed unhealthy foods (e.g., processed meat and cheese). | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:28 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?very muscular, and I hope we can both agree they are outliers in the population. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:24 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? The genetic variety of fat deposition, muscle mass, skeletal shape and size really goes to show how much is not up to us. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:22 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?BMI under 25 seems completely reasonable to me. I don't know how old you are, but that is a refreshing thing to hear from a woman. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:20 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? My sympathies. Shaming is clearly not the answer. We need food system change. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:18 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? It's very flawed, yes, but it's far superior to weight alone. It has its uses. I looked at a lot of body gallery bodies and my BMI attraction ceiling of 25 was reliable. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:17 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? It's not ideal, for sure, but it's far superior to weight alone. As I said to another user, 130 lb. looks good on a lot of women, but that would make a 5'0" woman "overweight" (and it would show). | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:15 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? You're welcome; it's a neat concept. I found that surfing it for awhile gave me a much better weight-guessing ability. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:14 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Just don't use the phrase "takes care of herself" TIL | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:13 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? For the sake of your health, it's a 30 second Google search to calculate it. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:13 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?I've considered body fat %, and see two problems with it: Very few people know (or can even easily find out) their BF%, whereas BMI is a simple calculation you can ask Google. There were muscular women on the body gallery site, and a BMI of 25 remained my ceiling. In other words, there is a female muscularity above which I'm not attracted. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:11 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? Thanks for this advice. It's definitely more time-consuming than filtering for BMI from the start (at the same time as sexual preference, radius, etc.), but it's better than guessing attraction from a few photos then being on the hook for a date you know won't work out. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:09 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Indeed. Time and money . . . and energy. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:06 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Sets of standards like this could only ever be actually upsetting to someone if someone who doesn't fit into someones' specific set of standards, wishes they did. I've seen tall men complain about women's height requirements, for what it's worth. I discovered my BMI attraction ceiling is 25, so 40.2% of women ages 25-44 are eligible. It's a broad swath I think. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:05 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? Can you explain a bit why you'd be triggered by the mention of BMI? Do you want to know in advance any objective measures of men? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:01 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?tentatively raises hand I care. If I can successfully go about my life without offending, I will. If I can spare feelings, I try to. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 02:00 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?BMI has its flaws, but you're right that it's definitely better than weight. 130 lb. on most women looks great. On a 5'0" woman however, it's in the "overweight" category. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:59 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?It doesn't? Enlighten me. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:54 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? The (food) system is rigged against everyone though. Why blame individuals when the whole developed world is getting fatter? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:53 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?James Corden, in response to shaming by Bill Maher, said the same thing. The shaming drove him in a negative direction. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:52 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? You certainly have your finger on the pulse of pop culture. Thanks for the lesson. Do you think fat shaming makes a net-positive difference though? James Corden gave a great rebuttal to Bill Maher on fat shaming, saying that he knows he's fat and has struggled with it his entire life, and shaming only drives him to find more comfort in food. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:52 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? Is there any way to find out in advance without offending, or must I see with my own eyes? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:50 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? You bring up a good point. From that body gallery website, I figured out my attraction ceiling is a BMI of 25, so technically no "overweight", "obese", etc. women. That still leaves a broad swath of women. I did the math: Using 2009-2010 CDC numbers, it leaves 37.8% "normal weight" women and 2.4% "underweight" women, ages 25-44 (1) for a total of 40.2% eligible women, or more helpfully, 59.7% disqualified. So let's compare 60% of weight-disqualified women to 60% of height-disqualified men: The 6… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:48 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight?Photos take time to view, so filtering out automatically would be faster. People use techniques to misrepresent their bodies. "Accurate photos" would be a difficult standard to uphold. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:29 PM
Is BMI less triggering for women than weight? Please reconsider. Post Guideline #2 states "No excessively leading questions". "less triggering" includes not triggering. In other words, I didn't presume that BMI (or weight) are triggering, only that weight is a commonly sensitive topic, and I wanted to compare it to BMI. Read the thread, and you'll see people took it in good faith, just as I wrote it in good faith. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/08/20 01:26 PM
Do beautiful women realize they get the VIP treatment nearly everywhere they go or do they naively believe this is just how the world works for everyone?I'm sorry to hear all that, but I appreciate the explanation. I naively assumed that if men dealt with head games in their teens and twenties, they'd wise up by their thirties. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 13/07/20 11:47 AM
Just How Fucked Are We?Thank you for this explanation. I've never heard the usefulness of the Federal Reserve put like that. | /r/TheRedPill | 13/07/20 03:07 AM
Just How Fucked Are We?Ken Burns' documentary on the Vietnam War might change your mind about this being a shittier time than any other since WWII. We have much for which to be thankful: seat belts, airbags, crumple zones, unleaded gasoline, four-stroke motors, asbestos-free homes, unleaded paint, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, the fucking civil rights movement, hepatitis vaccines, HPV vaccines, the list goes on. I'm grateful. | /r/TheRedPill | 13/07/20 02:55 AM
Opinion: Women might not necessarily have it easier on dating apps; here's whyThink of the intelligence of the average person, then realize half of people are dumber than that. I think people need opt-out protection. Said another way, protection should be the default. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 13/07/20 01:00 AM
Do beautiful women realize they get the VIP treatment nearly everywhere they go or do they naively believe this is just how the world works for everyone?35 to 55 y.o. men. Can you speak to whether or not that age range of men generally puts in the extensive work attractive FDS women require? In my 20s, I jumped through hoops. In my 30s, even Helen of Troy isn't worth those games. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 13/07/20 12:57 AM
Do women really have high standards or is it just that most men don’t put effort into their looks? If you're a troll, I'm sorry I'm feeding you. If you're sincere in the belief that male sex drives aren't higher (on average), please explain 1. prostitution, and 2. Grindr. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:59 PM
Do women really have high standards or is it just that most men don’t put effort into their looks? Are you proposing the sex drives of men and women are (on average) equal or women's are higher? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:56 PM
Do women really have high standards or is it just that most men don’t put effort into their looks?Quality insights. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:54 PM
Do women really have high standards or is it just that most men don’t put effort into their looks?I often wonder if women who wear long, claw-like fake nails do it for other women or because they think men like it. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:46 PM
Do women really have high standards or is it just that most men don’t put effort into their looks?Do you acknowledge there's a floor to attractiveness? I think women increasingly opt out altogether to the degree that men become less attractive. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:26 PM
How does being born into a rich family effect your dating game?I appreciated this TED talk. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:09 PM
How does being born into a rich family effect your dating game?Communist Canada and Communist Scandinavia provide a lot of services to their citizens with that tax money though. I wish Free America would progressively tax like that. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:08 PM
How does being born into a rich family effect your dating game?My mom came from money and married my other-side-of-the-tracks father who had nothing but drive. Their finances were terrible for decades because even though he earned more and more, she had never needed to save before. It wasn't until he started out-earning her spending that they could start building wealth. Decades. Rich girls become spendy wives. More at 11. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/07/20 11:04 PM

| 1 | Opinion: Women might not necessarily have it easier on dating apps; here's whyThese are two damn fine paragraphs! Bless your brain. Dating apps are tasty morsels of entertainment for most women, with the bonus of literal free meals if they're still hungry.
