There are some men out there who absolutely will judge you for it. However, any man worth a damn will see you've changed as long as your new value system holds up. I'd let things with your next guy naturally progress and I would want to be the one to tell him about your past rather than him asking. It shows you're taking responsibility for it and want to move forward as opposed to possibly hiding it from him because of an insecurity.

I think you have the answer in mind but just something to make the plunge. It is very obvious from your words and the feelings conveyed that you want to leave. There is no chemistry, attraction or respect. The longer this drags on, the more it'll hurt everyone. While it isn't ideal for your son, he will pick up on the cues that neither of you are happy. Kids see this sort of stuff.

It's easy to fall into the trap of ''what if?'' after a break-up. The only thing you should hold onto is that you both tried your best and now you're going your separate ways. It's not a failure, but a stepping stone to the next relationship where you'll be better to yourself and ultimately your partner. It takes thousands of people to create you and your ex-boyfriend is one of them. No one can predict when you'll find a relationship again. It could be tomorrow, next week, next year or 10 years …

Another way to think of it is an extreme level of trust that's built over time. Again, the man has to be worthy of it and prove it consistently. There is communication, mutual respect, compromise and sacrifice from both parties to ensure that the other is happy. It just looks and operates differently person to person. In my friends case, she trusts him so much to make these decisions and they're one of the happiest couples I know. The wife would much rather be a stay at home mom but financially,…

It's equal in terms of the respect given by both parties, but not in terms of dominance. A book by Thomas Carlyle describes the ideal state of a man being that of a hero and for a woman that of a hero-worshipper (this isn't derogatory at all). To paraphrase, the man should strive to be the ideal version of himself and strive for constant improvement, etc, etc. The woman trusts the man enough and supports him in his endeavors because she DEEMS him worthy of her femininity and submits to him. The …

The reason the traditional gender roles were adopted was because the world was a harsh, inhospitable place. Men and women adopted and evolved into these roles because it increased the odds of our species surviving. Men and women are meant to be a team and historically, there were overlaps in the roles at all stages of history. Here in Canada, the conservative leaning, farmer-dominated Prairie provinces got the vote first for women. The reason being is that women were seen as equal to men because…

The problem shouldn't be that you can't trust men anymore, the issue lies in not trusting yourself to be okay if you are betrayed again. I feel for you and it's a horrible thing to go through. But going through life being bitter towards men is a disservice to you first of all and the good men that want the best for you. The only thing you can do is to build yourself up to a point physically, mentally, spiritually and financially to a point where you are going to be okay if something happens.

It is never just a "you problem." Any problem that is affecting one partner ultimately affects both partners. Redefine it to be "our problem" because what's best for one partner ends up being for the benefit of both.

26M here and I hope a man's perspective will be somewhat valuable to you. The biggest green flag out there is that someone actively chooses to be with you. Regardless of how compatible you two may be or the memories you share, ultimately it comes down to the choice to be with you no matter what. It seems to me that he actively chose to not include you in the hardships in his life despite your willingness to help him through it. It seems like he's really suffering, and I feel for him, but he's go…

The first question you should be asking yourself is ''What do I think the root of the problem is?''. Leaving out details for a Reddit thread is one thing, but not acknowledging hard details about yourself is another thing entirely. You've outlined your positives, and I'm convinced they are positives, but what about the possibly negative aspects of your personality?

26M and a paramedic here. A lot of people will not change because they want to, but rather because they have to. I know of a patient who was extremely overweight and a bariatric (for super obese patients) ambulance had to be dispatched. It took the fire department and ambulance crew over an hour to get this patient down the stairs and into the ambulance. The patient experienced extreme guilt and embarassment during this incident and he turned his life around afterwards. While my example was an e…

You can never go wrong with steak. Even if it doesn't come out perfect, the effort is super flattering.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
