Adding to this; gestational diabetes, permanent anatomy changes (can be as benign as larger feet/hips, but can be more serious too), permanent hormone changes, onset of autoimmune conditioms, nerve damage (sometimes from pushing too hard), and the general issues that can come from surgery or medical procedures such as infection, blood loss (I've read of this resulting in emergency hysterectomy) and many, many other problems. Childbirth is no joke.

Ehhh kind of. We all lived in small towns, but went to university in a big city nearby. None of us actually moved out for university (it's very normal for people to stay at home even if they're studying here), so it wasn't like we were moving to a new place. And since we weren't moving to new places we were very used to the city already.

Totally feel you. A lot of people said I was fairly attractive (or at least above average) in high school, and I was a competitive swimmer then later cyclist so I had a fit body. But I always wore super baggy clothes; oversized blazer, ill-fitting shirt, skirt down to my knees (British uniform), never styled my hair or wore makeup, and very much kept to myself and my little group of friends. I think since I didn't signal extroversion with my appearance or demeanor, I was completely ignored, or t…

Of course they exist lmao. I was friends with a lot of "invisible" women and high school (and still now I'm in uni), and would probably consider myself ome as I've only been explicitly asked out once. These women weren't unattractive, they were mostly average though cute/pretty, and some were genuinely beautiful. But they were usually very conservative, didn't participate in fashion/makeup, and were EXTREMELY introverted/shy. They didn't go to bars, clubs, and some rarely did ANYTHING social, no…

Personally for me, I'm not very attracted to the behaviour that you mention in the post, ie. Makeup, fashion, other accessories. I think part of it is that I don't really engage in it myself, and it's hard to be attracted to someone who DOES engage in it, as it indicates different personality types. I also think that a lot of guys don't really know how to apply makeup etc, I've seen some male MUAs do it and it can look amazing, but the average feminine straight man usually looks a bit sloppy whi…

No lol, I'm 50kg at 5'2", and run a lot. I just struggle with social and romantic situations and have just not wanted anything to do with them bc they make me so nervous. I've been asked out a handful of times by guys but have rejected basically everyone.

This exactly. They have some unrealistic expectations about how much sex it is realistic to have in a marriage, especially if you have other obligations (and/or experience shame for your sexuality?...) I also wonder how many of them prioritise the pleasure of their partner in these relationships.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/20 04:59 PM

This exactly! It's rare to get a virgin partner who will have sex with you immediately (like on the first date timeline), heck it's rare to get a virgin partner who ISN'T waiting for marriage. Some of these guys say they'll be fine with waiting for these women, but many also don't believe in marriage?... likewise, they also seem to want women in relationships/marriages who will have sex with them frequently. I'm not saying that virgin women are "prudes" who don't enjoy sex, but I will say that t…

I think if anything some guys irl consider it to be a red flag to still be a virgin past a certain age, as it implies heavy conservatism, being deeply religious, or otherwise being asexual/having trauma

Lol, sorry! I though you were taking irl ideas here too
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/20 01:21 PM

I see, I thought you were applying it to the real world too. What I was basically saying was that, irl, men who want virgins generally imply it with "values" (generally religious), or frame it in terms of personality. That's what they would do to get it irl. In terms of the men here, I'm not too sure.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/20 01:16 PM
3

I understand why you chose them, what I'm saying is that from what I've seen (I grew up around many Catholics and Muslims), this explicit narrative of virginity is less something that is communicated ("I want a virgin"), but rather framed as a concordance of values, of which virginity just ~happens~ to be a part of. That's not to say that female oppression ISN'T present in these circles, or that this is always the case; I just wanted to provide a different perspective on this matter.

certain segment or the population I think that's the point, there. Maybe there would be more incentive for women to follow this imperative if this was the majority view, and/or if they had very few options surrounding dating. But as it stands, most women can probably just leave a relationship if a guy is being shitty about their past. And the extent to which PPDers act as if it's a big deal for women to not be "chaste" seems wayyyyyy overblown on the internet, compared to what women seem to expe…

I think it can be somewhat common for people who are virgins/low n-count, to want to partner up with people who are like that too. But I don't even always think it's a religious thing, and even when it is, it's likely a result of wanting to partner up with people with similar values to you, rather than a fanatic obsession with purity. That's not to say that there's never extreme ideologies that contribute to this obsession, and that personality overcomes religion in this regard, but this is just…

Currently have an n count of zero. I've generally been very repulsed when men talk about having hiiiigh n counts; not as people/friends or anything, more power to them for getting what they want, but the idea of being in a relationship with a man like that is absoloutely not for me. It would also imply that they do a lot of partying or dating, which is incompatible with my personality, as I'm quite a homebody. I mean, if that's what you're doing then I'm not sure what you would like me to say? That's just me explaining what I meant with the comment. But I can't give you any deeper secrets, I'm not a man who dates women, I'm only using experience of men I know in my life. I'm no expert, and I can only speak from personal experience. However, I notice that a lot of the men in my life that seemed to get burned by women that they dated, seemed to go for the same type of women. They were either the "manic pixie dream girl", similar to the trope that you see in popular media, and are often quite neurotic, leading to these guys getting hurt. The second is probably closer to what trp would call "Stacys". I notice that the men I know would get into relationships with the…

Haha I'm happy to share some musical knowledge! I never played flight of the bumblebee, bc my teacher was all ~you need to learn intonation~ and though it was pointless to just get me to play fast. Plus it would sounds very bleh on the clarinet. It's the more common translation of Mussorgsky's piece, but Night on Bare Mountain is also accepted. Though the less common (but correct) title is actually Saint John's Even on Bald Mountain. I don't speak Russian, so idk if it's as euphemistic there, but I know that translating it into my native Slovak language, it's not euphemistic at all. It was meant to visualise a Witch's Sabbath occuring on St. John's eve, on a mountain. The original composition is for choir and orchestra, while what we pl…

I just found a metal cover of Night on Bald Mountain, which I just played an online version of with my orchestra. It's like some final boss music, and it made me feel like I was wayyyyy cooler that what I really am, an orchestral musician who spent too much time trying to tune some D#s.

I feel this. I was sexualised as an adolescent teen when I wore competitive swimming costumes at training, I got these sus comments from my coach about how I looked that I only realised what they meant years later, and I was about 13/14 at the time. And I've been catcalled wearing school uniforms, loose-fitting outfits and working clothes. It's a world that sexualises you no matter what you wear.

I feel you that the toned look is nice, but I do feel that people with it tend to get too much hate thrown at them. It's a pretty understandable body to have, especially if you work long hours or have more time consuming hobbies that aren't just going to the gym. Yeah I wish I could tighten it up again ngl. I've always wanted the sort of weightlifting body, but I've literally been advised by my doctor and an orthopedic physiotherapist to not do it haha. Was never more shook in my life than during that scene where the girl and her brother are driving in the car. My jaw just fell to the ground and I actually had to pause and recoup for a few mins. The mother's cries of absolute despair were probably the most heartbreaking I've ever seen in media, and the scene where the parents had the dinner with the son was just so palpable and felt so realistic. Also - not enough sunlight. I live in Scotland, and everyone is extremely pallid, lack of vitamin D makes them look exhausted, being pale makes acne and discolouration more obvious. Then a lot of women try to compensate with heavy makeup and fake tan, and it causes their face to look orange while still having the paleness underneath. One of my uni friends is Japanese, and you could see her slowly getting paler and sicker looking the more time she spent here.

I also don't get the comment, bc the movie took place in 1989, the book in 1959, and we're comparing this fictional universe to a real-life woman's experience in 2020? I mean, body standards were a LOT more strict around the time IT would have taken place, and bullying was a lot more cruel. It's a funny comparison, though maybe that's the point since it's purge week. Side note, Ben grows up to be a Chad in the book too, and there it's sort of made to be a point about how his mother smothered him…

Exactly! Tbh I always think of how many people talk about how they're in student debt... and I know it's not as simple as cheap wedding = no student debt. But it could make a significant dent, and I don't think people are thinking of things like this. I always think of it in terms of how many musical instruments I could buy with (any money). And if I had £20,000 I would straight up be set for life with that hobby lol. And I could never take out student loans again just for good measure.

Whenever I hear about weddings like these, I think of all the better things that money could have been spent on. You could sometimes get another university degree, live in a better house, save for retirement or put your kids though uni, spend it on stuff you'll actually get a lot of enjoyment out of like hobbies... but no. Mad hunger has been the thing that stopped me from working out as much as I've wanted to. I used to be a competitive swimmer, and the amount of food I would get through when I finished training was horrifying. All I could think about was food. If you don't want to earn more than your wife, and still be expected to do more housework, then leave the relationship, be with a woman who earns more, or gyow, or go tradcon. If your issue is that women expect more than they give, then we're back to my original argument that Men also want more than they provide It's in our nature to be selfish and want the best of both worlds And I'm not talking about the context of not having comparable relationship values, but that a lot of trp men who want t…

But I disagree that men are necessarily held to the same traditions as they were under patriarchy. I mean... even without points I've mentioned (expecting kinky sex, wanting their wives to earn their own money), a lot of modern men are also simply not as family orientatated as they were under patriarchy imo. A lot of them don't even want kids/marriage, which is fine but that's it's own double standard!

Well, women didn't like the deal they got under patriarchy, so they rebelled against it. And many men seemingly agreed with them, hence we have something closer to the system we have now. If you don't like the modern way, then don't follow it. You can GYOW, find a tradcon wife, find a women who works more hours or earn more than you, have STRs for sex or casual relationships where you don't cohabitate. Many modern men (or ar least the men of trp/ppd) also want the benefits of patriarchy and modern society with none of the disadvantages. I don't doubt that many women change their minds, especially if they're faced with eg. A pregnancy. I would like to point out that it is a LOT more acceptable these days, for women (and men) to decide that they do not want to marry and/or have children, while still cohabiting and in a relationship. With the huge rise in the availability of birth control and the lessened stigmatisation of being unwed at a later stage and/or choosing not to have children, I believe that the decline discussed in the op could very easily be primarily due to choice. It's a bit of a crazy filter, though; it's not the sort of thing you can prepare for. I actually wonder how many relationships that would have been perfectly fine/healthy were torn apart by this. It's also been quite hard to even have online relationships since you can't even go on dates and stuff. Yeah my family have survived emigrating to a new country and being isolated from our whole family/friends in a new country where we didn't know the language. We were like this is nothing in comparison…

Situations like those shown in op's comment are honestly the reason why I'm so glad I spent covid locked in with my family rather than an SO. These are people who I've spent all my life with, and we've gone through similarly difficult situations together, who know when to give me space etc.; yet we still struggled. I can't imagine having to negotiate a relationship/marriage, spending time raising kids, all while perhaps stuck in a tiny flat, and NOT going insane with all of that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
