I’m a man, and I partake in a bit of delusion from time to time (at least like this). I think it’s easy to lean into the hurt you’ve been dealt, but there are people out there that will recognise your value. I think you just got to give yourself a chance to see it. You are not trash man. You’re not.

I think a ton of people lose feelings, because that’s what happens. A ton of individual circumstances culminating in their own personal sequence of events. But does that mean you shouldn’t be vulnerable and have a go? Nah. Does that mean you won’t maybe end up alone? Nah man. But having a shot is worth it, because why not? You might get lucky. And I hope you do.

Only person I can speak for - but I’m sure you deserve it too

I think you have more value than you think, you just gotta see it yourself

I get what you mean, and I can tell you I held those “red pill values” for a long time - and I did blame women for things that were intrinsic. I can’t speak for everyone, and I’m pulling from my own experience when I wrote the above. I do think there is truth in what you’re saying - but it feels like we gotta consider why people think their life sucks and why the focus is on women when they’re considering this. There is no excuse for poor behaviour, and some people will be too far gone - but eve…

There is never going to be a point in time when someone tells you you’ve achieved enough that now you are allowed to experience happiness. You have to give it to yourself, and you deserve to give it to yourself

Because everyone deserves a bit of happiness, you included.

All you’d have to do is read the article you linked man

Did you even read that article lol? It’s basically saying Americans have broad understandings of terms like “pro-life” and “pro-choice” but when you ask questions like “should abortion be legal in all states” the majority of people say “yes” with women having a slightly higher margin of answering yes

Can you prove that?

Ah yes, keep the kid alive long enough that it can experience enough suffering to come to its own conclusion to die - then make sure that everyone is okay with them offing themself. Seems like a logical answer to this conundrum

I think that’s a bit naive and overly simplistic way of looking at it. If your life fundamentally changes because of a decision, I think it goes beyond simple convenience. Take the rape out of it then - your 14 year old daughter has sex and gets pregnant - should she have the choice to abort or not?

I think being able to decide whether or not you’re ready to take on 9 months of pregnancy, labour and then a lifelong emotional, financial and physical commitment is a bit more than “convenience” bro. People take every single precaution possible and still end up pregnant. If you had a 14 year old daughter who was raped and fell pregnant, don’t you think they should have the right to at least choose whether to have that child?

How would you feel if, for example, it was decided by a panel of women to give your son vasectomy at 18 - would you feel that your son should have the right to choose whether he wants to reproduce or not? Would you feel those womens opinions mattered much as yours, or your sons in that scenario? That’s true - even more reason to give that choice. If a mother is not in a position to care for the child (and let’s say for argument sake, she was raped, so couldn’t even make the decision to not have …

I got to say, some of these comments about women are actually disgusting. Your mothers would be ashamed of you all.

That’s wrong also - wouldn’t you rather add rights to people rather than compete to take them away?

At the end of the day, why do you feel like your opinion on what another person should do with their body even matters at all? If the shoe was on the other foot, would you like someone telling you what you can and can’t do with your body - in the event that the thing you’re deciding on will literally change your body and your entire life moving forward? Especially when you don’t experience the reality of being pregnant at all. You’re essentially giving more rights to something that can’t even fo…

Look man, I think the issue you are facing is looking at an interaction/relationship with a woman in a purely transactional basis, without giving consideration to getting to know them as a person. When you have this mentality, I feel like it’s difficult to actually come across as genuine - and I think women can sense when you don’t actually want to get to know them, more you just want/expect something from them. I think women would see the behaviour as predatory/gross now a lot of time. I’m not …

That sucks man. I understand why you’d hold that view after that experience. I personally feel that putting in the time and effort to listen and be heard in a relationship is pragmatic in a way, but that’s just my view. I hope for your sake that you find your happiness, regardless of what it looks like and whether it’s with another person or not.

I think the idea of dating being a market is depressing. The commodification and transactional nature of dating right now, I feel at least, is part of the problem. You need a person to fit XYZ value to perform ABC roles to ensure X result in Y years, doesn’t leave much room for emotional growth with a person. But yes, I agree with you in the sense that you should be aware of what you want and get to know people on that basis in part. But where I disagree is that I believe you can do this while a…

That doesn’t sound like over generalising though. Maybe just vetting certain behaviours when you see them - which can be a positive process

Interesting point of view, and well worded.

I actually agree with this entirely. I feel like this is just another spin on the essence of what I’m saying above. Listen to the other person, reflect on your own behaviours and understand. You can’t really do that if you hold the exact same opinion on everything.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/22 11:11 PM

Yeah, I agree. Generalisations and gender politics have merit, but when you use them to avoid seeing the issues in your own behaviour, you end up just generating an echo chamber that results in a very lonely, angry case of confirmation bias. I do think a difference of opinion is important (because again you’re going to end up in that echo chamber if not) but I agree that too much difference will just result in constant combat, which is exhausting

Totally agree. I think there is a big difference between the flaws of a capitalism (which I suspect we’re on the same page about), and reflecting inward to understand yourself and others better

That’s what it feels like - I think this sub would be really great if some people spent time trying to understand eachother rather than just throwing hate. Doesn’t feel productive

I think generalisations can be good for understanding the world and spotting bad behaviours yes, but I believe if you’re out dating and spending time with people - assuming you KNOW them within 4 seconds is a bit brash. I think from a woman’a standpoint, some generalisations are a matter of safety - but when you’re painting everyone of a certain gender with a broad brush, I feel like you’re not giving yourself a chance to get to know people on an individual level (personally) But I appreciate yo…

It could be, yeah. I think the self destructive habits are one of those things you’d want to acknowledge and rework. Because chances are you’re a good person and don’t deserve that kind of pain you’re inflicting on yourself and others
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/22 03:59 AM

I appreciate that, yeah. It’s hard to look inwards and go “maybe I could work on some things” - I think therapy (to those who can afford it, I understand it’s not viable for everyone) is a great step here

I think part of that process is being alone - I think appreciating and being able to sit in the silence of your own company is very important. My only caution would be when you engage in that, to not ruminate on the things the other could have done - and why “they” are against you, ya know? But it’s only my opinion, hardly gospel and I’m not a professional in any means

I understand what you mean, however I guess a pragmatist might say that a homeless person could seek a shelter, use that time to see if they can find a low paying job and try to reintegrate into society (to use the logic of my post above, personally I think there are WAY more hurdles socially and personally before going from homeless > house ownership) I guess I’m trying to saying that personal accountability, awareness of the external forces influencing you and kindness are all key to understan…
