The thing about the "It's Rare" argument is that it alone is meaningless. Lot's of things are rare but they still matter and we take great pains to prevent many of them. Why? Because you also have to take into account how sever the consequences are if it does happen. This is risk assessment 101. In the US terrorism is extremely rare and we still spend millions on preventing it. Voter fraud is rare. Women dying from abortions or birth complications are rare. Over the counter drug tampering is rar…

Yeah all the same traits are "Wrong" when done for someone else's side and "Right" when done for "Our" side. Everyone wants to turn you into a soldier for their team. Nobody ever asks if we even want to be a soldier at all. Honestly the only winning move is not to play. However you have to deal with other people in life, so if you have to be a soldier for something be a soldier for yourself. I have gone full Ronin as far as I see it. If it is against my best interests you better be making it wor…

Best I've found is to acknowledge the situation is shitty for women then say it is also shitty for men and say rather than focusing on who has it worse what if we just found a way to make it less shitty for everyone. It doesn't always work but I am not the Bigot Whisperer.

Yeah it seems so clear to me that bonobos have a matriarchal sexually free adapted model with little need for brow ridges and more muscle precisely because food is plentiful in their range and there is little resource competition. Also that Chimpanzees have patriarchal, territorial more combative and rigid adapted model precisely because food and other resources are more scarce in their range. For proof it has been noted that Bonobos in captivity get more aggressive and just behave in a more chi…

This a bunch of BS wrapped in vague language to sell a book about what men should be to a bunch of women. Just watch it again and pay attention to when he shifts from "Men" to "Masculinity" and back. He headlines Provide, Procreate and Protect. But does not see those except in the service of his moral and ethical framework. Plus, I love the "Boys are stinky! Right Girls??" He tossed in there. If we have an entire class of people not even being taught the way and importance of bodily hygiene, the…

What does it say about how you view your place in your life that you start sentences only implying the "I" in them? Ask yourself why you wrote "Bought a new car..: and "Started working on.." instead of "I bought a new car.." or "I started working on..." At least star in your own OYS.

"Why do men do the things they do? As a woman let me tell you what men think about...." THIS is why men leave areas and fields where women make up a big part of the field. They cannot help but tell us we are doing it all wrong, that our way of being in the world is in some way broken because we are not exactly like them. Women's main complaint about men is that we make terrible women.

"Mr. Heishim369, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard... Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul". The idea that you have been working on this for 10 years and can't see the half dozen issues with this post is frankly beyond belief. You can't be that stupid and still able to type. I prey to god that you are a clanker. No idea what a boundary is, Reacting to her actions,…

Well it is certainly a step in the right direction from my perspective but it remains to be seen if it is actually a good thing. Let's just say I am cautiously optimistic but not entirely hopeful.

I'm going to take this as good news. Yes the Dems are probably pandering and hoping that will be enough to regain what they lost with men on the last election, however any movement is good movement and all politicians pander so why not to us? So the words have been said at least, but I am still going to be watching for actions.

I like to get them all fired up about how cold blooded and ruthless capitalists are and how they would gut their own mothers to save nickel. How saving even one percent on labor cost is a win for them. Then I casually mention how weird it is that there are any men are employed at all. Usually this draws the confused Pikachu face. I then mention how women do the exact same work as men and what with the wage gap and all it is sort of crazy that those viscous greedy capitalists would give away 25 p…

Honestly it isn't like we are hard to find. If this was a genuine effort to hear us and address our concerns they would be here. They are not. This is them trying t figure out how to market themselves to us better so we vote the way they want. Nothing more. Note: I am pretty cynical these days.

It is only counterproductive if you accept that feminism is what it says it is. There is a school of thought that a system is what it does, regardless of intent. If you look at feminism through that lens, feminism is a set of ideas advanced to increase the power and status of women in our culture. In short it is a tactic to gain advantage and not an ideology. The fact that feminism and feminists frequently behave in ways that are clearly counter to their stated goals is all you really need to kn…

You are not alone. You are starting to see the cracks in the dogma. There are areas where any cohesive mental model breaks down. That is why the world doesn't have a set view for just about anything. It just isn't possible. If you are the sort to question things and look at where and how they don't work you will always be a special sort of irritant to true believers. I think a big challenge on the left is how often the moral component is considered a necessary part of the world view. Like I have…

Thanks for writing this and providing your perspective. I do agree that this is not a one way street in terms of gender aspects. I think you may not be getting much support here as this is not place that spends lots of time on decoding aspects of femininity as you might imagine. Also and I think your post also has something I struggle with in my typing as well. I call it a failure of cross gender mind reading. In mine for example a woman may find a man that is very good at some aspect of providi…

I just figured out what you meant. I wrote that response after both of yours but I quoted it here just to save retyping. No need to apologize. The quoted comment wasn't there when you wrote this. So that is on me.

Maybe point out that the "The woman's way is the correct way" comes from the "The woman is responsible for the house" perspective. Then tell her that if she wants one she needs to take both since they are connected. Now it is also true that some folks are only playing incompetent to get someone to do something they don't want to do. But that is another thing entirely.

"I think the provides axis may need to be expanded from just feeding in a literal sense to instead one who provides something needed for life. So in that sense I think the artist, the intellectual and the spiritual leader still fall into that bucket as they provide art and invention and inspiration. It might be worth considering if a Leadership / Control axis should be added. However the addition of another axis expands the taxonomy by rather a lot. But like I said this is a quick and dirty clas…

I like to think of them as the 3 sliders of masculine identity. Fighting, Fornicating and Feeding. Every guy archetype usually has a high or low value on each slider, Superman / Main Villain; is High on all 3 sliders- He can fight, he is sexy and he provides for his loved ones. Dad / Oaf; is High in providing and high on fighting but always low on sexy. Loveable Loser / Scoundrel; is usually High on violence and sexiness but low on his ability to provide. Good Hearted Lawyer / Weasel; is high in…

Honestly I just switched it up to "Being Shitty to..." It takes it entirely outside the framework of modern intersectionality and makes it about one team of humans. Like being shitty to someone in (X way) because of their sex, which they had no control over is a shitty thing to do. Once you can say that you can get a surprising amount of agreement. That other language and men this, or women that, gets everyone's defenses up.

So there is a bias that isn't often seen that I think goes under accounted for. Brain damage and chemical exposure, Something like 40-60% of prisoners have a history of head injury or TBI. Brain injuries can make you more impulsive and being impulsive can make you more likely to sustain a head injury in the first place. But many head injuries come from things like military service, blue collar jobs and commuting which are all risks primarily undertaken by men. It makes you wonder how many prison…

Easiest way to fuck it up is to be too focused on not fucking it up. The effort to try and control the situation and in some small part the other person in it is doomed because it is impossible. When you worry about what the outcome will be or what the other person will do, you stop being who you normally are and doing what you normally do. That results in alack of connection with the genuine you and the other person which is what you actually probably want. The best possible outcome if you give…

There is no need to be a strong protector if nobody is relying on you for protection. No need to toil in mines and filed to bring home the provisions if no one is waiting on them at home. So when women rely on men for protection and provisioning they were compelled to step up to those traditional provider and protector roles to keep those women. So I think the issue is people want it to be that men set up the roles by dictate but it is the opposite. women being smaller and weaker in the past nee…

It needs to start with messaging. They need to start being okay with including men publicly in communication and get over the "eww Icky boys" shit. Just be willing to say that young men and boys have areas where we as a people are not serving them well enough. Then create at least a council on helping men and boys (not FIXING men and boys BTW). Put some actual funding and words behind the idea that men matter. Not fathers or sons, not black brown or green men. Just men. I am not going to pretend…

First just to second what u/Bbonzo said, NMMNG is a great starting place and I absolutely recommend it. But in case you don't the short short short version is this, You have been taught that is isn't safe in some way to make the women in your life mad or sad. Probably in childhood. Since that will inevitably happen if you just live your genuine life, you developed a sort of cover persona. That persona is conflict avoidant with women and appeasing to women. You know "Nice". You need to realize th…

If he went to west point he probably has access to the VA. They have programs specifically to help vets with mental health issues. So that might be worth looking into.

The best time to start something new was in the past and the second best is today. 30 seems old because it is the oldest you have ever been so far, but it is as young as you will ever be again in your life. You absolutely can 180 your life but it will take hard work and sacrifice. But honestly, you sort of sound like you don't want to change. And you absolutely need to WANT your life to be different before you can even take a step in that direction. So what do you want for your life to be?

It is never really a bad idea work on yourself. But do it not because it will get you something or because she told you that you need to. Rather do it because someone gave you feedback and you used it to take a critical eye to some aspects of your life which in your own judgment, do need work. But looking at this she was possibly looking to marry a provider type and she didn't think you were a good fit. Honestly while this probably painful right now, it looks like she may have done you a favor.

Before you do or say anything, Talk to a lawyer. Tell them what you are considering and ask them for legal advice. Anything anyone here tells you will likely not be applicable in your personal legal situation.

My recommendations are that you don't focus on weight or even fat loss right now. I think you should focus on muscle building. I think joining a gym local to your home and going to lift should be your first step. Yes you want to lose the weight but Just cutting calories will cost you fat and muscle. You need to go to the gym and lift as heavy as your body and experience are comfortable with. With anxiety you probably worry about what other people think so you may be tempted to not go. Remind you…
