Here is that talk: https://youtu.be/j7zzQpvoYcQ?t=515 Pausch starts talking around 8:35 and the part referenced above starts around 1:14:00 Totally agree re: listening when he says he's not into you.

Loreena McKennitt: a harpist and Celtic musician... there's something about ancient sounding music that makes me feel more grounded and feminine.

Vulnerability - I really like the way dating coach and matchmaker April Beyer talks about it in her blog: https://www.aprilbeyer.com/dating-advice/ - here is one post specifically where she talks about it: https://www.aprilbeyer.com/vulnerability-in-dating/ - "True vulnerability (the only kind), is simply this: Your highest sense of honesty, transparency and awareness combined with a healthy dose of generosity."

Some traditional men cheat, some modern men don't cheat. Traditional or non-traditional, as a man becomes more successful his libido tends to increase. It might be worth noting that a greater percentage of the high value men I know who don't place as much importance on n count are often on their second marriage. These men don't care as much about what others think, they want a relationship that feels more personally rewarding and fulfilling to them, someone they feel connected to and can laugh w…

I respectfully disagree. There are a portion of high value men who really don't care how many partners a woman has had. I know several. They married women with higher notch counts than Irl_girl. What these men have cared about is how good their connection is, how she conducts herself publicly, her image and presentation, how educated and intellectually stimulating she is, how well she takes care of her body and health, and how warm, loyal, compassionate, and supportive she is. High status is som…

Thanks for your encouragement. I'd say I have met more men via dating apps than by encountering someone out in the world - their reactions seem to be similar regardless of where we initially meet but more pronounced if we start talking online and then meet in person. Especially the more time has gone by where we talk online first.

There's an interesting thought, thank you. I don't think it would hurt to be a little more reserved and let them show more first. It would take an internal adjustment, so I still feel like I am being very present. Only recently have I really started putting boudaries around my time and seeing that it has actual value. It's not a low self esteem thing, I'm a giver. But I'm realizing that I don't have to give someone my time just because it will make them feel good.

I feel for you! Maybe the best piece of advice I can offer you, which I wished I learned sooner, is don't let anybody rush you into anything (platonic or not). Practice establishing boundaries in neutral situations and figure out what grounds you and then focus your time and energy into that. Take pride in your body and treat it well, you only get one. You don't have to hide yourself; if you haven't adjusted to your newly developed self, learn how to layer in ways that are flattering but help ea…

That's awesome, I hope you guys do. I'd love to see that link if you can find it! Maybe all the ladies on here can come together and create a guide. Re: expiry date: I remember being a frustrated teenager and my mom would try to comfort my flat-chested curve-lacking self by saying, "it's OK, you'll look younger when you're older." It sucked at the time but she was right. Now I'm OK with it. I do wish she had given me more guidance around what to do when I started getting attention though I don't…

My female detector is off and that is definitely part of the problem. I recently took a personality test (Jordan Peterson's "Understand Myself" test) and scored in the 95th percentile for compassion. I always try to see the good in people and unfortunately don't see red flags right away sometimes. Also I was a late bloomer so men didn't notice me till I was a little older and it still throws me off now when they do even if I'm not interested in them. I was married for 5 years and was all in... m…

I think you are right. Initially I didn't get it because there's no way I would have gotten back with my ex. But recently I moved and had to disentangle a few remaining things from the divorce and had an aha moment around how that could have bothered a potential romantic partner.

I can't speak for how they treat every other girl, but it doesn't feel disingenuous. At least, what they are saying and perhaps their short-term actions seem to be genuine. You are right in that I encounter men below my SMV because I have the opposite of resting bitch face and tend not to dismiss anyone who wants to talk to me; I'm always curious about people's lives and stories. But at the same time, the last guy I dated was Ivy League educated, handsome, and had his own successful business. We…

exactly, selfishness and immaturity. It seems like people confuse happiness and meaning these days. Both are worthy of pursuit but there seems to be an overemphasis on the pursuit of happiness ironically because of all of the abundance in the West. If you don't see who is picking up the tab it's easy to take it for granted. Poorer countries literally cannot afford to go against the family unit because the state would not be able to provide. If they did they'd just slip into communism quickly. He…

if I can add onto what you are saying: because of fatherlessness and the epidemic of family court bias that has been rising steadily here for about the last 40 years (the rate of children born to unwed mothers has plateaued at around 41% in the last few years) I think there are a lot of father woundings and as a result hatred toward all competent men and all authority (as fathers are the original authority). People who have these father woundings seem to not be able to distinguish between the go…

When I stopped caring about calories and portions I lost weight. Pretty sure I eat more calories than I used to in fact. Just calculated my BMI and it is currently 21. I wear a size 2 or 4. I've always exercised intensely, so exercise was not the factor. What allowed me to get to a weight I think my genetics wanted me to be was changing WHAT I eat and to stop caring about the rules other people would try to push on me around diet. For example, many people say, "breakfast is the most important me…

Re: baby voice: to me it sounds like he might have mommy issues. Was there anything in his parent's dynamic that would make him not want to be the leader in a marriage? For example, how was his father rewarded with love - what lessons about reward, love, roles, and partnership might he have learned from their example? It might be a subconscious thing from his observations and experiences when he was younger that manifested when he became a husband, the "man of the house." Marriage definitely bri…

This comment needs to be bumped up near the top, so true, at least in intimate relationships. I liked @Kara__El's idea of making a list of the things he can do that you can't in order to appreciate how you compliment each other. Cultivating more appreciation could have the effect of increasing the respect you have for him. Other things to consider are: giving him space to be the man you want him to be as well as the man that he wants to be. Let him surprise you. Use positive reinforcement when y…

Also seconding @LookingForEquanimity - one of my best girlfriends would always date guys and focus on their potential, not who they actually were. She became obsessed with the belief that relationships are "work" and the relationship must be good if you are putting so much work into trying to make it work. She took a break from dating and worked on seeing people for who they were, what they were presenting in that moment. A few months later she has met what seems like the love of her life.

I second @thatbadlarry, knee-length or slightly below the knees would be most elegant. Navy is safe. Off-white, creme, light metallics, and red are also lovely at holiday events, also patriotic. Get some classic pumps like what @shayzelala described, Via Spiga makes great ones that are comfortable to be in for an entire evening and look more expensive than they are. St. John also makes extremely classy dresses and accessories. If you know your sizes shop on eBay or TheRealReal, you can often get…

I wonder how the student union reps from Sydney University, who called the film "physically threatening for women" (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/sydney-uni-student-union-pulls-funds-from-red-pill-screening/8439720) would reconcile those blatant lies with this award (by audience vote -- Cassie said there were young feminists in the audience too) and Idyllwild's Best of Festival award.

Because the dynamic between men and women has a ripple effect on nearly everything... ultimately, unless we (as in society) stop painting all men as an oppressive enemy, more and more of them will opt out of society (and really, who can blame them?)... at a certain point, when enough men opt out, we're all screwed. A recent report from the Congressional Budget Office noted 1 out of 6 young men are not working or are incarcerated... that's a 45% increase over the last 30 years! Source: http://www…

The distribution company Cassie has contracted with will be launching the film on VOD and DVD worldwide early next year -- probably early March. That date will be announced on the film's site later this month. Tugg is the best place to arrange for a local screening if you are in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand. great examples. I'm most curious about how much of men doing more good and bad, and how much of women being risk-avoidant and underrepresented in the top 2% of IQs (as well as bottom 10% of IQs), is due to biological differences and how these trends have been beneficial to the survival of humans. There's an interesting paper that catalogues how success and crime both tend to follow the same curve in men and women, but is always more extreme with men. thanks for sharing your thoughts. To me, Kristoff makes all the useful stuff Anna does possible, but our (our being society) belief in equality forces us to ignore what he does for her. Without him, his sled and him risking life and limb she wouldn't have gotten very far. And Elsa's powers really seem like a metaphor for her sexual prowess. Like if you watch the part where she sings "let it go" -- her modest dress suddenly becomes a sexy dress with a slit up the front. And she shimmies as she si…
