Man, this is such a relatable post...I have this issue too and it keeps costing me opportunities. Honestly its probably rather common but guys tend to focus only on outer game and not inner game. It is indeed quite difficult to rewire your subconscious beliefs about yourself and girls and "the way the world works" but absolutely necessary for lasting success with women

I'm in the midst of doing the same thing that you did--shifting your perspective about people and their value in order to take physically attractive people off the pedestal. Did you do any specific excercises or meditations to facilitate that? ​ To answer your question, I think the trick is to flirt with the women you're interested in. That way, they know you're interested.
