If you truly believe men are not able to have sex/relationships with women of equal attractiveness to themselves, and that this situation is "wrong", what is there that can be done to fix it? If there isn't anything that can be done to fix it on a grand scale, what are you doing to work on fixing it for yourself, personally?

Okay, you're right. So how do we implement this change?

Are there other ways women benefit more from marriage than men do?

Why should just men refuse? Do women get some benefit from it that men don't? (Aside from potential financial benefit if he makes more $ than her)

If we are assuming the 80% paired up rate remains constant through time, then a man who is unable to get into relationships would still be in the bottom 4% If 20s women are pairing up with 30s men at a high rate you'd have a flood of 20s men unpartnered but you'd also have a corresponding flood of unpartnered 30s women. If those 30s women are off dating 40s men, and the leftover 40s women are with 50s men and so on and so forth you eventually are left with a bubble of old cougars somewhere. This…

10.97 million male/10.55 million female. So assuming all the females are paired up, that leaves 4% of men unpartnered. Assuming everyone in that age group only dates within that age group.

I'd be super interested to see these statistics. I can understand how there could be local effects that cause a flood if men or women in one city or region. But this should even out if the world's population is close to 50% women (so there should be plenty of regionsWhile there could be a higher percentage of women in a certain age range I'm curious how that would happen on a global scale. Aside from a one child only policy the only other reason I'd expect an entire age range to contain more of …

most of the girls having short relationships with the upper 20 percent or men Ok, but at any given point in time, each woman is in a relationship with one man in this scenario. Even if they rotate frequently there are still the same number of men and women who are single at any point in time. Unless you're asserting that a huge portion of these upper 20% of men are in relationships with multiple women at the same time. In terms of just sex, I can totally wrap my mind around the top 20% of men ge…

This might be a dumb question, but genuinely curious. I see alot of these "men who are average can't get relationships" posts but have trouble understanding them. If there are an equal amount of men and women in the world, how are more women in relationships than men? Or are an equal number of women single, but they are happier single than the single men? If you are just talking about sex, it's more of a believable claim. Maybe women are only having sex with the top 20% of men. But if we are jus…

The consistency is probably a huge part of what makes this amazing for him too. What a simple yet effective way to show your love and kindness. I wish I could do this for my boyfriend but we both work super early and eat breakfast at work

Knowledge work is not "less hard" than manual labor. It is not inherently less demanding on the body and mind. I hate that stereotype. The brain uses a huge percentage of the body's energy. It is conceivable that the manual laborer is able to zone out and dig ditches all day and gets home physically worn out but mentally alert. Whereas the knowledge worker might be physically energetic but a mental potato at the end of the day, unable to do anything that requires thought or planning.

I am facing the reality that I will probably never have children. And you know what? I think it makes the thought of dying more bearable. If I, say, make it to my 80s, I will have some friends (hopefully) but no one I am super attached or close to. They will all be dead. Mom, dad, siblings (probably), boyfriend (if I still have one), all are older than me and will probably be gone. I am friendly and have fun hobbies, I have no concerns about being "old and alone" because I'll always find people …

This sounds like great advice. It sounds like she has logically concluded she has no reason to feel this way, but the feelings are still there despite the logicall assessment. How to take the next step and free herself from the irrational feelings?

Wouldn't they both have to not care? The power dynamics thing in relationships is very unfortunate but inevitable unless people either have a ridiculously stellar childhood or a TON of therapy, no?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/23 05:14 AM

Assume that becoming less attractive as time goes on is inevitable, and assume two people put in effort to make this slide to ugliness as gentle as possible. The sweet spot is to be with someone that as you both become less attractive you also don't have any other options besides them that are significantly more attractive than they are. Then the emotional connection and history between you is enough and you are happy. Rare occurrence I am sure but that is the goal if you're going for long term …

I think the men I'm talking about are the ones that aren't really into spending time with women for its own sake. Who see women as valuable for sex but get their companionship from men, or don't need companionship that much.

This just unlocked an insight for me personally. I'm also primarily quality time. Also dating a workaholic. I love him deeply but am unsatisfied frequently. He is definitely exceptional, but I'm not sure it's going to work long term. I've talked to him about it, and he tries, but it isn't as if he can manufacture the desire in himself to spend more time with me. And when he does it just to make me happy, I know it isn't truly his desire even though he doesn't act bitter about it or anything. May…

Average men are great to date. It's fun dating exceptional ones too, but there are cons. They usually have so many options that it is hard to settle down and feel secure in the relationship.

Money aside, assuming equal financial status etc.: The subset of men who aren't all that interested in spending time with their woman for its own sake, and aren't interested in including her in his life, absolutely pay for sex by spending that time and going through the motions of including her in his life, to the extent that she pressures him into these things. That keeps her happy enough to continue sexing him. It is an unspoken and sometimes unconscious transaction. Not all men are like this,…

Generally speaking men in the world today are equipped and able to improve their looks and financial standing if they are motivated to. But I think most are lost on how to improve their personality. Social norms and conditioning didn't set them up to be in touch with their emotions enough to even be aware of what is going on with them let alone work on it. So the response to any critique in that space is fear, resistance, and lashing out. It's sad really. Emotions are not some weak womanly thing…

Being funny is a big pro for sure, not denying that. You don't have to "work" on being funny, the work is in being confident and comfortable enough to connect to your own sense of humor and not take everything too seriously. While I've personally not heard a woman complain about a man being "not funny enough" I have heard "he's too serious all the time and it wasn't fun". Yeah. If you're not being respected by others consistently, there might be an aspect of your personality and how you're prese…

I'll contrast what I am calling exceptional with the bare minimum to clarify, with examples. Exceptional: A successful career that showcases his ability to contribute something tangible and valuable. Example: he is in a management position, makes big decisions, 6 figure job Basic: having a job, taking pride in your work even if it isn't an exceptional career field or exceptional money. Example: an individual contributor on a team, makes enough money to be stable and not rely on others. Exception…

I see your point. The description is really just a bunch of low bar requirements with some flowery language sprinkled in that hints at top 1% charisma guy. Reading it literally there is nothing that should get anyone riled up, but I see how it can get the imagination going. Normal confident guy is not the majority, but I do believe it to be an achievable goal for most. 1% rizz guy is a rare commodity and honestly probably comes with alot of cons that as a woman I don't end up actually wanting on…

I think once a guy meets the bare minimum, there are alot of ways he can stand out and be exceptional! Any, not all, of the following are examples: 1. A successful career that showcases his ability to contribute something tangible and valuable 2. Having a fascinating hobby/passion where he can grow, improve, and shine 3. Being very fit, either into a hobby sport, or weightlifting, climbing, etc. 4. Basically any sort of making or doing something in the world that showcases who he is as a person …

You know, I sort of glazed over the word "captivating" as I thought about it in the sense of any confident guy (~25% in my experience) is captivating just by virtue of being confident. If we are using "captivating" to describe the elevated transcendent confidence of a movie star type, it's very rare to find that rizz in real life. I know a few. Interesting. Maybe that's what people are subconsciously getting hung up on on this whole post.

Bored at work so let's break it down! 1. "Sits still, takes up space, calm and still dinner table etiquitte": So... he was either not raised in a barn or has spent considerable time outside a barn since then. Assessment: Low bar. 2. "Speaks with clarity, charisma, and captivating confidence": I can see how this statement would intimidate many men who don't have this quality, but the confidence and charisma is probably the number one thing that is actually important to women even if they aren't a…

I'm a bit confused. To me what you described is the bare minimum of a decent guy, with a little bit of very attainable "manly presence". Which part of this is considered unachievable?
/r/PurplePillDebate19/07/23 03:10 PM

Yes, but men do care more about physical appearance while women focus on other (equally superficial) traits, on average. Women are probably better than men at painting their superficial interest as something deeper, both to others and also to themselves. Which is probably why it is not as recognized.

It is just so much nicer to believe that people like you because of who you intrinsically are, not because your physical form gives them a biological response. It's a tough pill to swallow.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/23 04:36 PM

Could be! I'm really just speaking from personal experience. It would be interesting to see any actual study on the topic. My own fitness and that of my girlfriends goes through ups and downs but doesn't seem to correlate with men on their way in or out of our lives. However every guy friend goes to the gym alot more when they get out of relationships in order to hook the next one. And if they start hitting it harder than usual while in a relationship......it's because there is someone else 😅

I've found myself attracted to short men fairly frequently and upon reflection I've noticed the specific short men I've dated/slept with were alluring to me because they had a certain charisma and confidence that was way higher than the average man. Yes, all things being equal I am more attracted to the taller man. BUT I have still chosen short men over taller guys when the short guys have that unique charisma and genuine confidence. Maybe they cultivated that to compensate for being shorter tha…

I would slightly edit your statement to "height is the most influencing factor that a man can't change about his SMV." If a man is super short (and I hesitate to even try and define that...) then yeah maybe it is truly the biggest influencing factor. But if he's just under 6', while it obviously will still have an influence, it is not more significant than looks, charisma, money, etc. to the average woman.

Expecting man to pay always or most of the time is "reaping the benefits of gender", and I'd agree in this case that you don't get to complain about inequality. Expecting the man to pay on the first date is more of a cultural mating ritual/ ceremonial expression of his interest. It does not automatically mean you expect a financially unequal arrangement overall.

Politely declining friendship when rejected romantically: Reasonable! Acting like you are her friend for months without making your romantic intentions clear, then getting upset and cutting her off when she starts dating someone: Unreasonable! Lingering around after she's made it clear she doesn't want you romantically with the hopes she will change her mind and leading her to believe you are her friend when really you are just keeping her as a future option: Cruel
