I stopped talking to 'friends' and 'family' that constantly negged my every action. I'm surrounded by much healthier people now.

Could be a cheating husband, with proof, it makes the divorce easier, right?

Super rare...but true. But most people aren't HV and will strive only to meet the bare minimum of civility.

My husband works hard at improving himself. We both came from abusive families so we both had to learn healthy behaviors and boundaries over the years via therapy and trial and error. Honestly, though... he started respecting me in direct measure to how much I respect myself. It is totally true that we teach other people how to treat us. If we treat ourselves with reverance and care we recieve the same treatment in return. It isn't just better treatment from my husband, either.... its everyone. …

We had a long talk where I explained they were important to me. They last about two weeks, then I get new roses and dry the old rose petals for my baths:)

Congratulations on providing a great example for your child!!! This sub actually saved my marriage. He picked up 50% of the chores, we hire a cleaning service (Except during COVID), and I finally get roses without begging or buying them myself. This sub helps me daily... in my case, I had to learn how to ask for what I need in life instead of going without.

Sounds like he needs therapy. She shouldn't have put up with his lack of basic courtesy because he clearly has some issue with holidays. It isn't her fault he has very clear empathy problem on holidays.

I'm a journalist, but I would write much more fiction if I had a club like this. Please count me in!

Mostly from family. I also used to model, however, to my estranged family I am a dead ringer for my abusive mother. It causes severe dysmorphia at times. Also, my grandmother, who has never been thin, kept harping on my weight since I no longer look like a teenager for her to dress up like a doll any longer. I am 38 and it's funny how one negative comment can erase a hundred positive ones in my psyche. I'm working on it.

This sub saved my marriage. It forced me to set boundaries with my husband that equally divided household labor and allowed for me to start a legitimate journalism career. The education on this sub applies not just to dating, but LIFE. When we fight for our own worth, everyone benefits.

Someone else in the thread posted...but here is the rundown: She saw the post, turned down his marriage proposal, and cooked nothing but casseroles for a month until she finally left. He was obtuse to the bitter end.

Any statement that starts with...: "But my ex..." The ex was already bright enough to dump his ass.

What an incredibly brave woman! I wonder if she has any idea how many internet strangers support her right now.
