In regards to students, the graph shows 41% female students, 21% male students.

If you can't find a citation for either then why is it a safe bet to assume it is referring to just US schools?

I'm going to need some kind of citation for that assumption.

The person said it mattered what mood she was in the next morning. I am just asking a simple question as to why there would be a reason for the girl to be in a certain mood the next morning. If a person is worried about a girl being in a particular mood the next morning, what reasons would she have to be in a particular mood. It is relevant to what the person said.

I am asking you to clarify a reason and at no point have I implied that anyone should be allowed to retroactively remove consent. I asked you why the woman would be upset the next morning. It is a simple question which warrants an answer that does not delve into whatever topics you claim I am referring to.

Stupid bullshit? You could just say you don't agree with it and leave it at that rather than go through the effort of insulting me.

I'd actually think educating youth about sexual relationships would work better if you started at high school. I no longer believe we can assume enough parents are educating their children about sex and consent. Also I would think it is time to using an education that is not based in heterosexuality, since people of all sexual orientations would benefit from learning about sex and consent. Provide examples of healthy sexual behaviors, healthy relationship behaviors. Provide examples of problemat…

No, didn't say that. You can read what you want to from what I've said but at no point is it implying that any blame resides solely on anyone nor am I saying any rules are fair or not fair. I'm saying we could try something else and see how that goes.

And there is a chance your hypothetical situation would not exist in the first place if people talked with one another a bit more before they engaged in any type of sexual activity. Clearly what people are doing right now is not working for everyone so it is logical to try alternatives every once in a while.

I am not talking about campus codes of conduct my original question was directed at the person not at the topic of this post. I can ask a commenter a question about what they said and I can have an opinion on what they said without ever having to make a statement or opinion on the topic of a post.
/r/MensRights31/05/14 11:17 PM

My questions were directed at the other person, not at the topic of this post. I fail to see how knowing the person you are having sex with on better terms is irrelevant to having sex with other people. You know the people you work with. You know the people you live with. You know the people you interact with on a daily basis. Why can't you know the people you sleep with a bit better? How is the idea of being an adult who actively engages in interacting with people a childish idea?

And getting to know people better could get rid of those reasons from ever occurring. Again, I say COULD.

I asked why the woman would be upset in the morning because the other person said "it's up to what kind of mood she's in the next morning, basically". I am not shifting blame because I am not even commenting on this policy or what you are referring to. I asked a simple question to a single person and then made a very generalized statement that in no way accuses anyone of anything. Everyone can benefit from getting to know people better. That's it. I am not turning anything into anyone's fault. I…

At least you had the decency to respond instead of just downvoting, albeit with a very vague response. Care to explain why you think that it would be irrelevant for people to put more time in getting to know their sexual partners before engaging in sexual relationships? I've noticed a trend on this subreddit that if you ask a question or suggest something that goes against the grain in the slightest it is pushed aside, ignored, ridiculed, insulted, talked down to or otherwise told to fuck off. I…

For what reason would the woman be in bad mood the next morning? Maybe people should put a little more time in getting to know their sexual partners before engaging in sexual relationships.

You can't decide for someone else what success looks like. But isn't that what commercial media does when it perpetuates and normalizes stereotypical representations of gender that ultimately limit the ways a person is able to live and express themselves?

I knit. I bake things. I am interested in gardening. I am cisgender male but I am not limited by the hegemonic social expectations of my gender. I can do whatever I want and however I want to just as long as I don't hurt myself or anyone. I confuse the hell out of people, that's about it.

Sex is not a physical need, Thank you. The influence of commercialized masculinity makes it seem like it is, but it is not. Far too many people value themselves based on whether or not they are having sex, and how much sex they are having.

Nothing I say will change your mind. It took me a full semester's worth of studies, readings and lectures to get to where I am. You believe what you want to believe, I'll believe what I want to believe. You're not actively interested in changing the way you view things so to try to teach you would be a waste of time. If you sincerely believe sexual and romantic relationships are part of being a happy person, you risk becoming an angry, upset person if you do not experience sexual or romantic rel…

I guess I should have specified. Asexuality is an umbrella term of sorts, specifically I identify as a gray asexual. So I know what it is like, and because I was sexually attracted to a woman, I know what heterosexual attraction can feel like. But asexuality is never really talked about so it is not surprising that you didn't understand me when I wasn't as clear as I could have been.

Is it possible that sentience just means we're a lot more clever at fulfilling our animal desires? Yes it is possible. Just like it is possible we are not entirely controlled by the same things that control our animal kingdom relatives. Who cares about insulting? Because you can be plenty civil and disagree with someone without insulting them. If you insult a person it really implies that you don't care about what they are saying or their feelings. what evidence do you have that it will be easy …

I only figured out I was asexual 6 months ago. I'm 26 and I haven't had sex. I lived my teenage and college years believing whole-heartedly that I was what you refer to as an involuntarily celibate male. So in terms of experiences, I was involuntarily celibate far longer than I've been asexual. So at the moment it does encompass it so please do not discredit the years of depression, anger, and suicidal thoughts I used to have when I thought I was involuntarily celibate. Ah looks like I hit the d…

Reproduction is a basic motivational force. Humans are not basic animals. The very fact we have sentience means we are not entirely controlled by the same things that control our animal kingdom relatives. To imply that we are controlled by our animalistic urge to reproduce limits humanity. Please don't imply that I am detached from reality because that is insulting. I think very differently from you but that doesn't mean I am detached from reality.

Um, no sorry you can't invalidate me so please do not use that kind of micro-aggression. I only recently figured out I was asexual as of 6 months ago. I did so after years of assuming I was heterosexual because as a male that was what I was "supposed" to be. So I know all about sexual frustration and the inability to "get some". I know all about depending on sex to validate my character. I know all about asking "why don't I have a girlfriend" and questioned what I was doing wrong to the point of…

Well I'm asexual so I've been having a great time with it actually. You can be plenty sociable with people of all genders without needing to sleep with them. Don't imply that living single is abnormal. Plenty of single people are perfectly happy the way they are.

I'm not even talking about that. I'm talking about your reply to the other person. You disagreed with them and insulted them. Just like you're insulting me for raising a point. What hope do you have of increasing communication on this sub if you are insulting people so freely? A lot of people do not speak up for fear of insults and harassment. There is no reason to insult a person because you disagree with them.

Gender identity is absolutely shaped by society, but it is not 100% controlled by social input. It's the whole nature vs nuture debate, and all that documentary does is highlight the fact that the debate shouldn't even exist at this point as the answer is decidedly "both." Valid.

Well seems your set in your opinion just as I am set in mine. I believe gender is most certainly a construct. Paraphrasing Butler, gender is a performance. You learn how to "do" your gender. Your gender is policed by others. The performance of gender existed before you did. This performance is controlled by social "norms", which change over the course of time. Color has no gender, smell has no gender, objects have no gender until we assign one to them. When I get a chance I'll look over this doc…

A person can be insane because of biological reasons and a person can be insane because of societal reasons. He can be mentally ill and he can be a misogynist. It does not have to be one or the other. Remove all influences of misogyny from his life. The media, the offhand comments that some members of MRA and PUA sites say, what he sees other men doing. Remove all instances of misogyny to the point that this guy was never given the impression that women owed sex to men, was never given the impre…

I'm saying everything has to be considered. It is not either or. He was misogynistic. He reportedly had some kind of mental "thing". Hopefully we'll get more information. And I would never assume just because something is derived from a biological reason automatically makes it more impacting than something derived from societal reasons. Society can do great job messing up someone's head too. I didn't insult you but you certainly came out swinging. I only posed a statement which paralleled yours,…

Just as blaming mental illness can be considered skewing the facts to look good as an agenda against anyone raising the misogyny issue.

Because you insult a man by calling him a woman. "Man up" = stop acting not like a man/stop acting like a woman. "Don't be a pussy" = Don't be a woman. "Grow a pair" = This implies having testicles/being a man is superior to not having testicles/being a woman. This is misogyny. Stay focused on me and not on what I remind you of, because at no point did I make any reference to war, victims, or politics. You are inventing a comparison where there is none.

So men are told to not be women because to be women is to be [insert adjective of choice]. Your examples are examples of misogyny.

Indeed. The victims are as such because his original plan failed. His initial goal was to kill as many women as possible, ergo, his initial goal was rooted in misogyny. Not saying anything about MRA or PUA or any of those communities. Just saying that his plan of action was rooted in misogyny.

It'd be easier to just explain what you actually mean instead of relying on the reader's ability to decipher what you are implying. That aside, the quotation's author has valid reasons to have a mistrust of men. The use of the word mistrust in this case is most likely meant to imply a lack of confidence. That does not mean the author assumes all men to be horrible, sexist monsters but rather the author has chosen to not automatically assume men to be of good character. However this does not mean…

You emphasize your desire to end generalized statements about men yet you make a generalized statement that you feel discriminated by all "feminists". All feminists do not act or think exactly the same nor do they all believe in the exact same goals or use the exact same methods to reach their goals.
