| -2 | Wise words from a woman on feminismThat's one of the last things the woman says is about how you can't be raped if your married. I'm disagreeing with something she said. | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 01:37 PM |
Wise words from a woman on feminismIt didn't really clarify that it just made a vague statement about believing rape doesn't happen in marriage. | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 01:36 PM
Wise words from a woman on feminismYou expressed my frustrations and beliefs perfectly. | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 05:10 AM
Wise words from a woman on feminismWell, it is weird to reddit stalk people. I don't feel the need to read through your comment history. This also has nothing to do with the topic which is the issue of spousal rape. You're merely re-directing the conversation to avoid the fact that I am not being a radical feminist because I believe that both men and women are capable of forcing the other to have sex and that neither is acceptable, even if the two are married. Being married does not mean handing over control of your body to anoth… | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 05:08 AM
Wise words from a woman on feminismAlso, you'll note that I never exclusively said husbands raping wives. It could be wives raping husbands. Both happen. | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 05:02 AM
Wise words from a woman on feminismWell, thanks for being a creep and reading my history. I'm more about egalitarianism of genders then anything else. I support men and women and I don't think it is ok to tell someone "they weren't raped" because the accuser was their husband or wife. No means no. Force is force. | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 05:01 AM
Wise words from a woman on feminismNo. Her husband used to beat her and her kids and on several occasions forced her to have sex. The fact that I had to justify her rape and say she wasn't just "claiming it" really makes me wonder what kind of people are on here. Are all men rapists? No. Are some? Yes. And the same goes for women. I didn't realize that to support men's rights I had to hate women and assume everything they did was to bring down men. Edit: Clarification | /r/MensRights | 13/02/13 04:50 AM
| -1 | Wise words from a woman on feminismThe thing that I would have to disagree about this is that it is possible for rape to occur within a marriage--it happened to my friend's mom. This is usually in cases of domestic violence. Just because someone is married doesn't mean their SO has control over their body and ability to consent. It is a gray area, though. | /r/MensRights | 12/02/13 11:55 PM |
Apparently the way to justify calling all MRA's violent and rape apologists is by making every man a straw man......The feminists I know believe that women are still not equal to men in many ways--and they are true in that sense. I have never heard a feminist say that women are the only ones who are oppressed. They do, in some situations, relate ways men are oppressed back to femininity but I don't view that as the same. It's usually in the sense that they believe it should ok for a man to act feminine, and that the reason it is not ok for men to be more feminine is because we, as a society, view being femini… | /r/MensRights | 06/02/13 09:43 PM
Apparently the way to justify calling all MRA's violent and rape apologists is by making every man a straw man......Do MRA's really oppose feminism? I feel like one side doesn't need to be oppressed for the other to have freedom, and that seems to be the sentiment of most of the people in this sub. Isn't equal treatment for everyone best for both women's AND men's rights? | /r/MensRights | 06/02/13 07:27 PM
..Seriously?If a person consents to sex or foreplay than it isn't rape. But someone forcibly touching a person's genitals is sexual assault. I would really appreciate if you would actually listen to my points instead of just pulling out the feminist parts to bash and ignoring the parts where I equate men and women as equals in this situation. If a man is drunk and a women takes advantage of that to have sex with him then I also consider that rape. As for people "preventing their own rapes." That is utter bu… | /r/MensRights | 03/02/13 10:46 PM
..Seriously?Ok you're getting a little paranoid, no offense. But I think you're assuming that I disagree with the way male victims of rape are treated. It isn't ok that the only domestic violence discussed is that of men against women. Women are just as able to commit acts of rape and violence against men and it isn't ok. That's why I sub to this subreddit because while I support women's rights I also support men's and don't think that men should be constantly shamed and guilted. I think the reason it is su… | /r/MensRights | 03/02/13 01:11 AM
..Seriously?I got my statistics about rape from a national crime survey not a feminist group. Unwanted sexual contact is rape...If a person has sex because they feel pressured to is also considered rape. If a person is drunk they can't legally make decisions mainly because when people are black out drunk they can't make that kind of decision. Those definitions apply to men too. I think the reason it appears that women are raped significantly more than men because there is a ton of underreporting for men due… | /r/MensRights | 03/02/13 12:39 AM
..Seriously?Downplaying female rape and domestic abuse is just as bad as downplaying male rape and domestic abuse. Yes, they both happen. However, it's a little overboard to call feminists liars about female rape. Female rape is a serious issue and it isn't something anyone is happy about. Being for men's rights doesn't mean you have to be against women. | /r/MensRights | 03/02/13 12:05 AM
..Seriously?Just as nonsensical that 1 in 3 women will be sexually assaulted in their life but that doesn't make it less true. While it isn't ok to paint all men as rapists and wife beaters, ignoring the facts and not allowing ads targeting the perpetrators of crime instead of victims does not help anyone. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 09:09 PM
..Seriously?I agree. There is way too much focus on the idea that only men beat women, not men, and that women don' beat anyone. Everyone is capable of abusing someone else. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 09:03 PM
..Seriously?Oh...I did miss that. Well, I feel like an asshole now. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 07:11 PM
..Seriously?Because deeming who is and is not a victim of domestic abuse when they are at a shelter is a really easy way for people who need help to be denied it? There is nothing sexist or wrong with having separate women's and men's shelters for domestic abuse. Not everything world needs to be gender-neutral. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 06:10 PM
..Seriously?No not physically but a huge aspect of domestic abuse is the psychological aspect. Many women deny that they are being abused because they are too afraid of their partner and believe that there is nothing they can do. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 05:55 PM
..Seriously?Women's shelters are a safe haven for women to get away from abusive partners. I know that, at least in my town, men are not allowed in the shelter to prevent abusive spouses from tracking down the women to the shelter and forcing them to go home. If a shelter was gender neutral it would be easier for men to get in and intimidate their partner into going home. The same can be said for men's shelters. They should be a place where men can escape their abusive partners without fear that a woman wil… | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 04:57 PM
Several people are emaling this to students at my College. Talk about total being hypocritical.I don't even understand what point they are trying to make. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 04:27 PM
..Seriously?I don't think having a gender-neutral shelter is a good idea at all. The point of women's shelters is that they are places where women can go to get away from their husband. Men aren't allowed in them because a lot of abusive spouses will try to track down their partners. If men are allowed it in it would be way too easy for a husband to track down his wife or vice versa. | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 04:05 PM
..Seriously?I took it as saying that statistically speaking 1 in 5 men beat their partners. It seemed to me like it was saying domestic abuse isn't ok and you shouldn't do it. I know it may seem like it is just male blaming but shouldn't these kind of things focus on stopping abusers from abusing rather than telling victims what do if they are abused? Isn't prevention better? However, I agree that they definitely need to discuss female on male abuse as well as male on female abuse. Both happen and both shou… | /r/MensRights | 02/02/13 03:58 PM
| 2 | Something quite bemusing happened after school today...The difference between you willing holding the door open for your wife out of love and a bus driver pushing men to the back of the line to let the women on first is very large. It is great that you do that for your wife, but you do all of those things for every woman in the world simply because she's a woman? Don't get me wrong, it is really nice when someone holds the door open for you. But it isn't the bus driver's job to teach men to respect women or tell them that they are less than women. | 2 | Article refers to men as just being "penises" in passing. Can you imagine backlash if they referred to women as "cunts"?You should do a screen shot of the article instead of linking to it.
