Ripley was a truly strong female character, and so were Sarah Conner, Selene, Jackie Brown, or Morticia Addams. The huge problem is still that mere accusations can already ruin your reputation. There don't even have to be police and/or lawyers involved. A public accusation is enough. Of course you can then sue that person, but how does this actually help you? The public awareness almost always remembers the accusation because that's "the spicy part" of the whole, sad story, but pays little to no attention to when the accuser is proven to be a liar.

If denying college men due process, evidence, and a fair impartial hearing results in less campus rape then... justified! Ideally, this would be automatic Then why isn't it? And I mean that regardless of the kind of accusation or who is involved. The way I see it, that girl committed an unlawful act by giving false testimony, and another unlawful act by willfully accusing a person she knew was innocent. For that alone she should be prosecuted regardless of whether or not the victim of these accusations sues her for repairs of whatever.

I'm not from the USA and don't know how the legal system works there, but shouldn't the accuser be automatically charged for lying in court or something like that, regardless of whether or not the wrongfully accused coach wants to sue her?
