I don't really take time to ask that many questions. It really goes back to my original point, do the best you can with what you have. I may not always get things right, but I do always try to get them right. The mother is just mad because 50/50 would end the free money. So she's not REALLY upset about the relationship with her daughter, just the money. It's moral and right to fight such a person, always will be. Money is meaningless.

I guess you and I are just built differently. I fight, and scorch earth until I am left alone in peace. 50/50 is reasonable and just. I'd side against him if his goal is 51/49 or higher.. but in this case he has the moral high ground. Especially dealing with an ex-wife who sounds like she's emotionally distant to the kid and cashing his checks.

Well lets take a step back and see what the complaint is, her (the child's) mother, is accusing him of being too much fun and too attentive a father. That's rare. If that's the worst that can be said then if he stops being that loving father to prevent the child from being embittered... Is to say the very least, unreasonable. I know there's two sides to every story, but if he is to he believed, and I'm going to assume he is since his only goal is to shoot for 50/50, (not 70/30 or even 51/49, but…

This one isn't on Dad. This is ALL contingent upon Mommy Dearest's behavior. If she doesn't act a fool, and block the 50/50, no embittered child occurs. If she does act a fool, then that's on her. A large part of being a man, especially today, is doing the best you can with what you have. And it sounds like this gentleman is executing that mandate with grace and concentrated skill.
