Performing an unnecessary medical procedure on an infant is disgraceful. Agreed, but it can carry a life sentence which arguably is the more important thing here. It may not legally be considered rape but it IS.considered to be equally wrong and that is reflected in the maximum sentence.

Under this statute a woman can be sentenced to life for forcibly penetrating a man's anus with inanimate objects or her fingers and tongue against his will. It doesn't mention anything about forced enveloping, but then again I'm not sure if such a law exists in any country.

The Crown - yes. It is one of the most important institutions in the UK that is relevant both politically and historically. The people - yes. We don't want the death penalty on our books and that is OUR choice to collectively make. Wait until you find out that the death penalty doesn't work as a deterrent for violent criminals. Plenty of things wrong with our union of four nations but not executing members of the public isn't one of them.

Not just a year. In the case of knowingly making a false accusation and bringing a formal complaint to the police the accuser should face the same penalty that their victim would if found guilty. In terms of full blown rape this would mean a maximum of an 8 -12 year sentence in the UK depending on whether or not he / she plead guilty. Obviously this doesn't apply to genuine misunderstandings and those falsely implicated through circumstance.
