One of my examples from the past: I have a mindset of giving in my part first as a goodwill in order to let my date/partner be more keen to keep her part of the compromise/promise. Then afterwards, I have to keep reminding them to keep their part, making me as if I was desperate for it. Doing this always annoys them and making a bad image of me out of the situation.

I learnt to choose my battles instead of trying my best to fight every battle i encounter. Generally just trying to practice the 48 laws of power after reading and understanding them to a certain level. I have come to aware that I've breaking the Briffault's law most part of my life and it has created a lot of disadvantageous/undesired situations for myself.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
